Per lo scopo di questa ricerca, ho scelto di analizzare la funzione ricoperta dalla tradizione in seno a tre dibattiti di genere tutt’oggi aperti in Marocco: il ruolo della donna nello spazio pubblico; il rapporto della donna con la maternità e con la famiglia; la definizione delle identità di genere. Questo lavoro intende riflettere, pertanto, sulle prospettive di trasformazione dei rapporti di genere e dunque comprendere come da questi dibattiti possa derivare un’azione politica volta a garantire maggiore eguaglianza tra i sessi. La metodologia scelta è quella di esaminare il progetto di tre pensatori marocchini che hanno contributo, in modo incisivo, nel processo di ripensamento e rimodernamento del pensiero politico islamico in Marocco. L’obiettivo principale è quello di mostrare qual è il significato che ogni studioso attribuisce alle nozioni di tradizione e di patriarcato, e ricollocare tali pensieri nelle specifiche configurazioni sociali, politiche e culturali che interessano i rapporti di genere nel contesto marocchino. Tenterò di mostrare come diverse maniere di concepire la tradizione permettono di capire il patriarcato, inteso come un sistema che valorizza il dovere di obbedienza a tutti i livelli, dall’educazione alla famiglia, dove donne e bambini sono subordinati, e dal lavoro all’amministrazione, dove è indispensabile la sottomissione assoluta al vertice del sistema di classe gerarchico. Ho preferito, pertanto, un approccio alternativo che attribuisca un ruolo principale all’elaborazione delle realtà sociali e storiche esaminate come unità funzionali e che, nel loro insieme, concretizzano il sistema di funzionamento del discorso di genere. Questa scelta intende dunque ricostruire i dati più salienti sul dibattito pubblico sul genere e la sessualità in Marocco, sia a livello storico che teorico, 1 cercando di non lasciare inesplorata nessuna delle scienze umane applicabili: la sociologia, la psicoanalisi, l’etnologia, l’esegesi, la storia e la politica. Gli autori di riferimento sono Asma Lamrabet, Ghita El Khayat e Abdessamad Dialmy, tre tra i più rilevanti intellettuali, noti nella comunità scientifica internazionale, che si sono occupati di temi riguardanti il genere e la sessualità e che seguono varie scuole di pensiero di genere: dall’universalismo all’islamismo riformista, dal costruttivismo al differenzialismo. Tutti e tre gli autori sono molto presenti nel dibattito pubblico sul genere e sulla sessualità e i mezzi di diffusione del loro pensiero sono variegati: dalla pubblicazione di saggi e opere, alla docenza accademica; dalla costante partecipazione a convegni nazionali ed internazionali, alla partecipazione a ricerche qualitative e quantitative di carattere scientifico; dalla pubblicazione di opinioni personali sui propri profili Facebook alla pubblicazione di articoli e opinioni sui propri blog. Il loro pensiero nel dibattito intellettuale nazionale ed internazionale è puntualmente considerato e, nel contempo, contestato.     Women and Men in the Qur’ān “In the midst of media and academia dominated discourses about Muslim women’s discriminatory treatment, the present volume provides a scholarly inter- pretation of the Islamic primary sources to present women and also men as equal partners in the life dictated by modernist ideological expectations. Dr. Asma Lamrabet, without engaging in apologetics, has rendered a great service to women’s cause by responding to the systematic denigration of women’s stature and rights in Muslim sources, in order to reinstate the dignity and human worth of women in Islamic tradition. The classical exegetical materials are critically evaluated for their culturally biased position against women. The inclusive and even-handed approach to the question of gender discrimination in Muslim culture leaves the study free of the usual feminist polemics. Dr. Lamrabet’s approach allows the Islamic sources to speak for themselves about controversial treatment of the gender disparity. Moreover, the author commendably presents the contemporary lip-service treatment of wom- en’s rights undertaken by Muslim political and religious leadership. The problems with governance in the Muslim world have done very little in reorienting Muslim traditional attitudes to the questions of justice and equality to improve the lot of the women today. Opwis, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The examination of the works of some of the major reformist thinkers in the Maghrib region since the late nineteenth century reveals a tension between two attitudes, revivalism and reconstructionism. The study contends that Taha Abderrahmane and Mohammed Arkoun are in some ways the ultimate representatives of later more sophisticated revivalist and reconstructionist drives respectively. Abderrahmane seeks to ground a modern social and political system in renewed Islamic principles that he carefully elaborates to act as a corrective to what he presents as the failures of uncritically imported Western modernity and secularism. He keeps the Islamic at the forefront of an overarching system that replaces ʿalmāniyya (secularism) with i’timāniyya (entrusting). Arkoun, on the other hand, critiques the very foundations of “Islamic principles” and grounds modernity and secularism in a Muslim context through that very critique. He challenges the historical interpretations of Islam and calls for keeping a constant space open for the secular, as a way of combating the sacralization of human discourses, a process that serves the interest of some social groups at the expense of others.

Desde la Fundación Editorial El perro y la rana hemos tomado este nombre no solo como provocación para identificar esta colección, sino para exponer la variedad de manifestaciones de lo “femenino” que diariamente se confronta con la norma social del género, creando relaciones de opresión y discriminación. Nuestra propuesta es ampliar el tratamiento de los “asuntos de la mujer” para abordar lo más posible las luchas contra las situaciones de violencia y dominación-explotación, sobre todo lo que está fuera del modelo del hombre-blanco-heterosexual-burgués. De tal modo, esta colección apunta a las reflexiones en torno al reconocimiento de la diversidad de géneros, incluyendo los planteamientos de nuevas masculinidades, feminismo y sexo-género diversidad enfocados en las particularidades de cada frente, pero transversalizados todos por las luchas de clases. La colección DeGéneros en sus tres series: DeVelar, DeConstruir y DesAprender, tiene como intención seguir fortaleciendo las discusiones y aportes desde el Poder Popular ahí donde la construcción de un modelo antipatriarcal es posible gracias a la participación política y protagónica de los pueblos.
