Integrated watershed modeling of mountainous landscapes: Assessing the environmental performance of an intensive farming system in South Korea. Submitted to Bayreuth Graduate School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (BayNAT) Submitted by Ganga Ram Maharjan born 20 April 1982 in Chapagaun, Lalitpur, Nepal Bayreuth, August 2015 This doctoral thesis was prepared at the Department of Soil Physics, University of Bayreuth, between April 2012 and August 2015 under supervision of Prof. Dr. Bernd Huwe, Prof. Dr. John Tenhunen, and Prof. Dr. Seong Joon Kim Date of submission: 26 August 2015 Date of defense: 04 December 2015 Acting director: Prof. Dr. Stephan Kuemmel Doctoral committee: (1) Prof. Dr. Bernd Huwe (1st reviewer) (2) Prof. Dr. Martin Volk (2nd reviewer) (2) Prof. Dr. Thomas Koellner (chairman) (4) Dr. Christina Bogner Abstract The agricultural production to secure food for overgrowing world's population and the reduction of associated detrimental effects on the environment are of global concern. Intensive farming systems coupled with a high amounts of fertilizer applied to secure an increasing crop yield have a negative effects on the global environment. The nonpoint source pollution, such as sediments and nutrients from the intensive farming systems and point source pollution from industry are of major threat to the global environment. The point source pollutions from the industries are discernible, which can be fed into wastewater treatment plants before bringing back to the environmental system. Nonpoint source pollutions come from many diffuse sources (surface runoff, atmospheric deposition, precipitation, and seepage) and are more difficult to handle compared to point source pollution.

As of November, the market share for Korean films in the domestic market stood at 55 percent, which indicates that the yearly market share of Korean films will be over 50 percent for the third year in a row. In the international arena as well, Korean films were invited to major international film festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, and San Sebastian and received a warm reception from critics and audiences. It is often said that the current prosperity of Korean cinema is due to the strong commitment and policies introduced by the KIM Dae-joong government in 1999 to promote Korean films.

STUDIA ORIENTALNE 2021, nr 2 (20) ISSN 2299-1999 https://doi.org/10.15804/so2021209 Haesung Lee1 Joseon Literati’s Righteous Principles (Yiriron) as a Moral Practice in the Political Realities – Its Meaning and Limitation in a Historical Context Introduction:Dohak – the Joseon Neo-Confucianism Neo-Confucianism flourished as a central ideology and absolute social order during the Joseon dynasty (朝鮮 1392–1910). “Neo-Confucianism” is a gen- eral term commonly applied to the revival of the various strands of Confucian philosophy during the Chinese Sòng dynasty (宋 960–1280 C.E.), re-exam- ined and reconstructed by Zhu Xi (朱熹, 1130–1200 AD.) It provided Koreans with philosophical speculation, moral and social norms, and a most strongly functional lifestyle. However, the terms of Joseon Neo-Confucianism con- note some specific characteristics, compared to classic Confucianism and the Chinese version of “Neo-Confucianism”2. The term of Dohak (道學 Chin. Dàoxué) – Dao (Way) Learning – already existed in classical Confucian context. However, in Korea, it is generally called Dohak (道學), which concerns Neo-Confucianism of the Joseon dynasty in a holistic scale. Thus, a proper understanding of the term Dohak is essential to comprehend the essence and particular characteristics of Korean Neo-Con- fucianism. Among the similar terms which refer to Neo-Confucianism, such as Jujahak (朱子學 Chin. Zhūzǐxué: Zhu Xi’s Science) and Jeongjuhak (程朱學 1 University of Wrocław, Poland, ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5185-3586, e-mail: [email protected]. 2 The Korean Neo-Confucianism 1) was condensed rather into an anthropological, centripetal, and inward way such as the “Four-Seven” theory and Human Nature; 2) pursued to seek religious an ethical legitimacy under the name of Confucian teaching, even beyond logical rationality; 3) put much more emphasis on Righteousness and Fidelity in a macroscale; 4) clarified the Righteousness as a theoretic speculation on moral propriety.

Ttongsul From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Ttongsul, or feces wine, is a Korean traditional wine made from feces, Ttongsul particularly that of humans. Hangul Ttongsul was first widely Hanja introduced to the public by Vice Japan’s Yuka Uchida in 2013. She Revised Romanization Ddongsul found Dr. Lee Chang Soo who McCune–Reischauer Ttongsul makes this Korean traditional wine.[1][2] Contents 1 Production 2 Origin 3 Books referring to ttongsul 4 References 5 External links Production Ttongsul may be produced in either of two ways. The more time- consuming involves submerging a bamboo stick in a chamber-pot which contains feces and alcohol. It is left there for several months as it ferments, and the ttongsul is extracted from the bamboo.[3][4] A more rapid method, which may produce less favorable results, simply involves mixing alcohol and feces directly for several days.[5][6] Origin Medicinal compounds produced from feces have a long history in China[7] and Korea. As long ago as the Tang Dynasty, chicken manure was used this way. In Japan, equine feces have been believed to have medicinal efficacy and have been traditionally used as therapy of choice since Sengoku period. Equine feces is said to be especially effective in treating gunshot wounds by direct application to the area, or consumption by mouth or in aqueous mixture.[8][9] Recently, it is permitted to be on the market for Heo Jun "Dongui bogam ()" state prototype.[10][11] Other types of (1613) feces were historically used in medicines, including those of flying squirrels, bats, hare, sparrows [12] and silkworms.
