Scott Anderson 409-344-1124 A Message from our Worthy Grand Knight Dear Brother Knights, We are now in the midst of the 2021 Lenten season and our Parish just experienced a fantastic retreat series presented by the “Redemptorist Formation Community”. I thank all the Knights who volunteered to act as ushers for this series of services. If you missed it, you missed some great and heart-searching messages. Not to worry, though, all three services were live streamed to Facebook and YouTube and are available for viewing at your leisure. We have had an unfortunate turn of events in that the weather has left our church campus with no water. Since we need water at the cooking site and that water comes through connections in the Education building, we have had to cancel two fish fry events. Depending on when water returns, we may need to cancel more, but those cancellations will be made one at a time. Hopefully, we can all feast of fish in the next week or so. We are still working to restore our use of Saint John hall for our Council and Assembly meetings. Until then, however, we must be content with Zoom meetings. I encourage all Knights to set aside time to participate in the monthly meetings. There is no need for you to be in the San Antonio area to participate. The link can be accessed from anywhere in the United States. It is our sacred duty as Knights to attend as many meetings as possible in support of our Council and Assembly. I do realize that many are involved in other activities that conflict with the Council Meetings, but there are also many who could attend and do not. Our next Council meeting is an Officer Meeting on Wednesday evening, March 3 at 7PM. The officer meeting is open to anyone who wants to bring up new business. Details should all be worked out at the officers’ meetings and not at the council meetings. Meeting minutes will be sent out electronically in advance of the Council meeting. If you desire to attend the Officer’s meeting and are not an officer, email me or SK Joe Vocks and we will extend an invitation. Our next General Council Meeting will be March 10 at 7PM. I will be sending out invitations to all Council members this coming weekend. That email will be accompanied by a copy of the minutes from the February meeting. Looking forward to good times in 2021. Vivat Jesus Viva Cristo Rey In His Service, Tom, GK, SK Knights of Columbus Council 8521 February Activities Knight of the Month January 2021 Brother Eloy Uresti. I appreciate the recognition. I have never been able to write about me. My Brothers enjoy this newsletter. God Bless You and your Families. Brothers we are still in need of Prayer Warriors: The “Shield a Badge with a Prayer” program is designed to show support to local Law Enforcement Officers through daily prayer. The Texas State Council is promoting this program as a “Community” Activity” and encourages your Council or Assembly to start a “Shield a Badge with a Prayer” program. The goal of “Shield a Badge” is to have every officer “adopted” and to have a daily prayer said for that officer’s Safety, Good Judgment, and a Safe Return Home. The commitment is for ONE year. The officer’s name and badge number is given to the prayer sponsor. There are NO promises beyond a prayer every day (no personal contact, no phone calls, and no gifts.) Communication with the officer is limited to a card or note a few times a year letting them know you are praying for them. If an officer retires during the year, the prayer sponsor will be notified and a new officers name will be given. As new officers are hired, new prayer sponsors will be assigned. Contact: SK Tom Rosol,[email protected] or SK Mike Merta, [email protected] . Thank You Brothers (Volunteers) who participated in the Kitchen clean-up at St Joseph’s Catholic Church-Honey Creek for Feb. 9 2021, 1700hrs. At the Feb 28 -10 o’clock Mass, Father Francis made this announcement. Father Janak (Left) is the 1st cousin of our very own Brother/SK Ron Janak. God Bless your Family Ron! Remarks from Auxiliary Bishop-elect Michael Joseph Boulette January 23, 2017 Good Morning, y una vez mas, bienvenidos. A week ago Sunday evening I received an unexpected phone call from Archbishop Christophe Pierre, recently appointed apostolic nuncio to the United States, el embasador del Santo Padre Francisco. He asked in a most congenial way if I knew why he was calling me. I said I couldn’t think of anything terribly wrong I had done lately to make him call me, and he laughed! Then he told me that Holy Father Francis had appointed me as an auxiliary bishop to the archbishop of San Antonio. “Of course, you will accept?” he said — ?Por supuesto que usted aceptara?, dijo. Despues de haber hecho algunas preguntas, he summarized that my vocation would be to assist the ministry of my Archbishop, Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS, de pastorear a la Arquidiocesis de San Antonio. Su calido estimulo me motivo finalmente a pedirle to convey to the Holy Father that I accept this ministry in all humility counting on the grace of the Triune God, la presencia amorosa de nuestra Santisima Madre, especialmente bajo su advocacion de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, the strong protection of St. Joseph, Spouse of Mary, and the patronage of the Archangel Michael, cuyo nombre mismo afirma el culto de Dios Todopodoroso. I also came to accept Pope Francis’ call because of his moving description of the bishop’s ministry: proclamar la Palabra en cada occasion oportuna o inoportuna; seek grace for yourself and your people; cuidar amorasamente a los fieles, orando por ellos con las manos en alto como Moises; stay close to the flock so that you even smell like sheep; ensuciarse los zapatos con la tierra de sus vidas; love as a father and a brother, especially priests and deacons, the consecrated religious, and all who collaborate in ministry; mostrar especial cuidado por los pobres y los indefensos, the unborn, los migrantes, the imprisoned y los enfermos.

Knights of Columbus Council 8521 St Joseph Catholic Church - Honey Creek 25781 Hwy 46 West Spring Branch TX 78070-3613 KC Officers for 2019-2020 February 2020 Newsletter Grand Knight Hal B. Lane III The month of February is dedicated to the Holy Family. The special 830-980-6848 devotion which proposes the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Deputy Grand Knight as the model of virtue of all Christian households began in the 17th Tom Brod century. It started almost simultaneously in Canada and France: the 210-392-9839 Association of the Holy Family was founded in Montreal in 1663, and Financial Secretary Joe Vocks by the Daughters of the Holy Family in Paris in 1674. This devotion 830-885-4340 soon spread and in 1893 Leo XIII expressed his approval of a feast Chancellor under this title and himself composed part of the Office. On account Ricardo Garcia of the flight into Egypt this feast has been observed by the Copts from 210-843-7157 early times. The feast was welcomed by succeeding Pontiffs as an Treasurer Matt Wohlfeil efficacious means for bringing home to the Christian people the 830-388-6296 example of the Holy Family at Nazareth, and by the restoration of the Recorder true spirit of family life, stemming, in some measure, the evils of Paul Barton present-day society. 830-743-1677 In the words of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, "Nothing truly can be more Advocate Greg Canfield salutary or efficacious for Christian families to meditate upon than the 830-438-8266 example of this Holy Family, which embraces the perfection and Warden completeness of all domestic virtues."
