D’var Torah : Rabbi Yosef Weinstock WEEKDAY DAILY MINYANIM Nov. 10-15 The Jewish month after has no Biblical nor rabbinic holidays contained therein. While most Minchah/Maariv: 5:20pm people refer to our current month as Cheshvan, according to most sources its proper name is Shacharit: Marcheshvan or M’rachsh’van. Marcheshvan is probably derived from its location in the calendar. Sun. 7:15, 8:00, 9:00am Sanctuary / 8:30am Beit Midrash In Akkadian (Babylonian/Assyrian), “w” (vav) and “m” (mem) sounds can interchange. Protests in Iraq and Pose a Challenge to Iran The day after anti-government protests erupted in Iraq, Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani flew into Baghdad late at night and took a helicopter to the heavily fortified Green Zone, where he surprised a group of top security officials by chairing a meeting in place of the prime minister. The arrival of Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force and the architect of its regional security apparatus, signaled Tehran’s concern over the protests, which had erupted across Iraq and Lebanon, and included calls for Iran to stop meddling in the country. An increasingly violent crackdown in Iraq and an attack by Hezbollah supporters on the main protest camp in Beirut have raised fears of a backlash by Iran and its allies. The protests threaten Iran’s regional influence. Iran is the leading sponsor of terrorism and the regime’s regional aggression and support for terrorism is a central obstacle to peace and stability in the .
