The special exhibition shows Felix Wankel as a passionate “machine dreamer”, promoting the idea of the rotary piston engine with tireless commitment for 30 years. The central focus of the special exhibition is a giant walkthrough model visualising the principle of the rotary piston drive system for visitors in an impressive way. Another highlight is the prototype of an Audi 200 powered by a Wankel engine.

Dear visitors, dear NSU friends from all over the world,

The NSU brand stands for one of the most fascinating chapters of the history of technology and fascinates fans worldwide still today. With the first bicycles, with motorcycles and later on also with automobiles, the brand NSU started its success story and has made people mobile in many countries. At the beginning of the 20th century, everybody wanted to possess a two-wheeler from Neckarsulm—and in the committed fan community, this is still valid today. What is so special about the vehicles of the NSU brand that makes the eyes of classic-car fans sparkle with joy to the present day?

To fathom the myth of the brand, nearly no event is better suited than the traditional NSU meeting in Neckarsulm. No book and no photo could better convey the magic of the veterans of technology on two and four wheels than the lovingly restored and well-preserved originals themselves. And the 32nd International NSU Meeting offers again many beautiful examples to admire. Therefore, I am delighted that friends of the brand from all over world come back to the “birthplace” of their much loved bicycles and engines on the occasion of the 32nd International NSU Meeting. This gathering of classic vehicles an two or four wheels makes a chapter in the city‘s history come alive again in first-hand experience.

And still today, cars capable of inspiring customers all over the world are manufactured in Neckarsulm—the Audi AG‘s premium models. In that sense, Audi AG is fully in keeping with the tradition of its predecessor brand. And there is another historical constant. The city of Neckarsulm has always been a good host. Guests from near and far are always very welcome here. In this spirit, I warmly welcome all participants of the 32nd NSU Meeting in our city.

I would like to thank Natalie Scheerle-Walz, the director of the Zweirad- und NSU-Museum, and her team for the usual good preparation of the meeting, and I also thank the participating NSU Clubs and NSU-GmbH and Audi Tradition. Their participation helps make the NSU Meeting a great experience for the brand fans. I wish all participants of the meeting an unforgettable stay in Neckarsulm and many intensive “petrol talks” between classic vehicle fans. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Page 3 ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Message of Greeting Natalie Scheerle-Walz, Director of the Deutschen Zweirad- und NSU-Museums Neckarsulm

Dear participants of the 32nd International NSU Meeting, The Team of the Deutsches Zweirad- und NSU-Museum, the German Two-Wheeler and NSU Museum, is very happy to welcome you at this year‘s meeting in Neckarsulm

The enthusiasm for the company NSU and the products manufactured in Neckarsulm can be measured by the mere fact of more than 550 historical vehicles which will be in our city in the coming days. Participants from 18 nations have announced their presence at the meeting, and thus, we aren‘t only able to welcome NSU fans from Germany but also from the neighbouring Austria and from Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Denmark and Norway. Moreover, NSU enthusiasts from Ireland, England, Italy, Luxembourg, Greece, Israel, Spain and Portugal will be among us, as well as guests from Canada and the U.S.A.

Especially conceived for the occasion of the 32nd International NSU Meeting, we present a special exhibition under the title “Felix Wankel—Passionate Inventor” at the German Two-Wheeler and NSU Museum. This exhibition illustrates the full spectrum of applications of the rotary piston engine for land, sea and air systems. Two special highlights are to discover, a walkthrough Wankel engine and the rare prototype of an Audi 200 powered by a Wankel engine.

Additionally, we are able to show you the results of the first reconstruction works in the German Two-Wheeler and NSU Museum, the new cinema/forum and the new bicycle room. Experience the fascination of motorcycling in our film. A free entry pass for the Two-Wheeler Museum is included in your registration documents.

I would like to express my special thanks for the preparation work of the 32nd International NSU Meeting to all club representatives involved, to the representatives of Audi-Tradition, and to all departments involved of the city of Neckarsulm, all of them supporting with much eagerness and enthusiasm this event and making a decisive contribution to the success of the NSU Meeting.

We hope that here in Neckarsulm, at the cradle of the company NSU, you‘ll immerse yourself in the past with your historical vehicles, you‘ll have interesting “petrol talks“, you‘ll find good gastronomic offerings, and you‘ll enjoy the programme of supporting events.

My special greetings to all NSU fans, and I wish us all an exciting NSU Meeting 2012. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Page 4 ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Message of Greeting of Markus Trunzer and Ralph Plagmann, NSU GmbH and Audi Tradition

Dear friends of NSU,

While personal contact ist the basis of every community, it is unfortunately all too common that this aspect is pushed aside in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Therefore, it is good and important, that the International NSU Meeting offers a major opportunity to cultivate old and new contacts.

In this spirit, it has been a particular pleasure for us to prepare and to hold the 32nd International NSU Meeting together with old comrades and new friends. It is alrea- dy a long tradition to hold this Meeting at regular intervals in Neckarsulm, the birthplace of our brand.

A lot has been done and changed in the plant since NSU times. Today, one of the oldest automotive sites in the world has become one of the most modern plants in the automotive industry. All this derives directly from the roots of the former NSU plant. One thing has not changed over the decades: that is the enthusiasm for the products manufactured here. It is good to be able to experience this enthusiasm again at the Meeting, and to have the gathered NSU community at Neckarsulm. Particularly in times when the acronym “NSU” has been grossly misused, it has become important that we stand by our historical brand and that we convey a positive image to the public. To achieve this, the International NSU Meeting is offering a worthy and beautiful setting.

At this point, we would like to thank the city of Neckarsulm and the entire team of Frau Scheerle-Walz who made this Meeting possible as the organizer. A very special word of thanks goes to the voluntary co-organisers of the NSU-Prinz Club Schwaben e.V. and the NSU Fahrergemeinschaft Neckartal without whom the organisation wouldn‘t have been possible. Today, it can no longer be taken for granted that one dedicates his or her spare time to others in such a way.

We wish all the participants and visitors lots of fun and a great time in Neckarsulm, and we are looking forward to an enjoyable meeting and a reunion with old acquaintances and hopefully also many new friends of the NSU brand. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Page 5 –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

On 25 September 1981, enthusiastic NSU drivers in the Heilbronn area established the “Schwaben-Club”. The NSU-Prinz Club Schwaben e.V. is now 31 years old. In these 31 years, the membership of the club has grown to more than 250. Most members come from the Swabian and Bavarian area, but we are also proud to have members in foreign countries: in Austria, Luxembourg, Hungary, Italy, France, Spain, Cyprus, and even in Finland, U.S.A., Namibia and Australia.

The NSU-Prinz Club Schwaben stipulates in its Statutes: The purpose and aim of the Club is the founding of a community striving to preserve and maintain all products bearing the NSU brand name in an altruistic manner. Common events shall encourage the feeling of togetherness of the club members.

During these 31 years, many things have changed. While then the “Prinz” cars were still true “old and used vehicles“ (some considered them even being “consuming vehicles“), they have now become real classic cars. We look back wistfully to the times when the TT‘s were sold for a few hundred (DM, mind you), and the normal 1000 or 1200 C models changed ownership in return for a crate of beer.

We hope that the club will survive the next years, and that we‘ll be able to celebrate a double anniversary in Neckarsulm in 2031: 75 years Deutsches Zweirad- und NSU-Museum and 50 years NSU-Prinz Club Schwaben e.V. For further information about the club, see: www.nsu-prinz-club-schwaben.de ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Page 10 ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Audi Club International Deutschland

How a powerful community perceives itself The Audi club members are an alliance of friends, ambassadors and passionate representatives of the brand‘s interests. The club organisations of all founder brands united in the ACI are equal and acknowledged parts of the Audi world. The Audi Club International represents the interests of all clubs of the Audi, , DKW, Wanderer, Horch and NSU brands. Since the clubs were set up on their own initiative, they also have the irrefutable right to independence. Their union under the um- brella of the Audi Club International makes clubs and members legitimate links between AUDI AG and the public. The wide variety of brands in the AUDI AG Club Scene brings out differing characters and individual clubs, for which the sections provide a suitable environment in each case.

Auto Union This is the nucleus attracting friends of automobiles from the early Zwickau days of the Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer brands. Together they connect the 1932–1965 Auto Union, symbolized by the four rings, to post-war production at old and new sites.

NSU Chronologically, this innovative company represents the oldest brand under the roof of Audi Tradition. In 1955, NSU was the world‘s largest bike manufacturer with an excellent reputation soon also in the passenger car sector. The Club takes pride in representing all products bearing the NSU name, and keeping alive the history and importance of a formerly independent brand.

Audi Classic This is the home representing the interests of all owners of Audi cars from 1965 onward and older than twenty years. The clubs work to preserve and maintain the dwindling numbers of these cars. They support members in solving technical and historic problems, and are committed to supplying spare parts and restoring vehicles.

Audi Lifestyle The more recent past, from the 1980s to the current cars of the brand, is the theme of this Section. The original Quattro, the five-cylinder engine, successes at rallies, and enthusiasm about motor sports animate, motivate, and drive the growing membership of the Audi Lifestyle Clubs.
