MEDIA INFORMATION May 16, 2017 Japan Race Promotion Inc. Round 2 : May 27 (Saturday) – May 28 (Sunday) 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series: OKAYAMA Japan Race Promotion, Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 2 of the 2017 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on May 27–28 at the OKAYAMA International Circuit (length = 3.703km) in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Round 2 will feature an irregular two-race format, with a qualifying session and championship race on Saturday (Race 1) and another qualifying session and championship race on Sunday (Race 2). The format will give spectators the chance to see a qualifying and a race on both days. Race 1 and Race 2 will also be run under different formats. Saturday, May 27 will feature an official qualifying based on a 20-minute timed format, followed by a championship race of 30 laps (111.09 km). Race 2 on May 28 (Sunday) will feature an official qualifying based on a knock-out format. Q1 will last for 20 minutes and determines positions 11-19, and Q2 will last for 10 minutes and determines positions 1-10. Race 2 will be 51 laps (188.85 km). Drivers will receive only half the normal points in each race due to the 2 race format for the weekend, but an extra point will be given to drivers who secure pole position for each race. The opening round of the season at Suzuka was a pole-to-win victory for Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM'S), who has been in excellent form since off-season testing. -

MEDIA INFORMATION July 8, 2016 Japan Race Promotion Inc. Round 3 : July 16 (Saturday) –July 17 (Sunday) 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship: Fuji Speedway Japan Race Promotion Inc. (President: Akira Kurashita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 3 of the 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, scheduled to take place on July 16–17 at the Fuji Speedway Racing Course (length = 4.563km) in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series is the only internationally accredited driver championship in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) from Japan and overseas* are competing to win this year’s series. * 12 drivers from Japan and seven from five other countries: UK (2), India (1), Germany (1), Brazil (1) and Belgium (2) Round 3 of the series will be run over 55 laps of the Fuji Speedway Racing Course (length = 4.563km) for a total distance of 250.965km. Round 2 of the 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series was held at Okayama International Circuit. Due to heavy rain, the race started behind the safety car, but with no prospect of any improvement in weather conditions, the track marshal red flagged the race at the end of the 8th lap, bringing the event to a premature close. Hiroaki Ishiura (P.MU/CERUMO • INGING), who started on pole, stayed in front to secure victory, followed by Koudai Tsukakoshi (REAL RACING) in second and Takuya Izawa (REAL RACING) in third. The race marked the first time REAL RACING has had two drivers on the podium. -

(President: Hiroshi Shirai, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) today announced details of Round 1 of the 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series, part of the “2016 NGK Spark Plugs Suzuka 2&4 Race” event, scheduled to take place on April 23–24 at the Suzuka Circuit (length = 5.807km) in Mie Prefecture, Japan. The 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series is the only internationally accredited driver championship in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) from Japan and overseas* are competing to win this year’s series. *12 drivers from Japan and seven from five other countries (UK, Germany, Belgium, Brazil and India). The opening round of the 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series will be run over 43 laps of the Suzuka Circuit (length = 5.807km) for a total distance of 249.701km, as part of the “2016 NGK Spark Plugs Suzuka 2&4 Race” event. The 2016 season promises to be exciting. The big draw this year is rising star and GP2 2015 champion Stoffel Vandoorne (DOCOMO TEAM DANDELION RACING). How will he perform in Japan after recently securing a point for his tenth place finish in the Bahrain Grand Prix. Many fans will of course also be watching to see if defending champion Hiroaki Ishiura (P.MU/CERUMO • INGING) can achieve a second successive championship victory. -

Still all is fixed and back up and Chopper’s Woodyard........38 running so no real damage done in the long run, other than this eBay Watch.......................46 Journal being perhaps a bit late this month, but at least you will have something to read instead of watching the usual Christmas TV rubbish or putting up with the in-laws? The 2016 Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship Series is the only internationally accredited driver championship in Asia, run over seven rounds and six circuits across Japan. A total of 11 teams (entrants) and 19 drivers (cars) from Japan and overseas* are competing to win this year’s series. * 12 drivers from Japan and seven from five other countries: UK (2), India (1), Germany (1), Brazil (1) and Belgium (2) Round 4 of the series will be run over 52 laps of the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (length = 4.801km) for a total distance of 249.652km. Round 3 at Fuji Speedway featured plenty of head-to-head driver action, but Joao Paulo de Oliveira (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL), who was forced to retire in Round 2 at Okayama International Circuit due to mechanical problems caused by heavy rain, ultimately emerged from the melee to take a hard-fought victory. Kazuki Nakajima (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S) secured his first points of the season with a second place finish, followed by promising rookie Yuhi Sekiguchi (ITOCHU ENEX TEAM IMPUL) in third. With all three drivers making their first appearance on the podium this season after languishing down the rankings, the battle for the top positions is now incredibly tight. -

Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. Some of the files include Ludvigsen’s consulting research and the records of his Ludvigsen Library. Scope and Content Note: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers are organized into eight series. The series largely reflects Ludvigsen’s original filing structure for paper and photographic materials. Series 1. Subject Files [11 filing cabinets and 18 record center cartons] The Subject Files contain documents compiled by Ludvigsen on a wide variety of automotive topics, and are in general alphabetical order. -

ENRESO WORLD - ILab Different Car Engine Types Istas René Graduated in Automotive Technologies 1-1-2019 1 4 - STROKE ENGINE A four-stroke (also four-cycle) engine is an internal combustion (IC) engine in which the piston completes four separate strokes while turning the crankshaft. A stroke refers to the full travel of the piston along the cylinder, in either direction. The four separate strokes are termed: 1. Intake: Also known as induction or suction. This stroke of the piston begins at top dead center (T.D.C.) and ends at bottom dead center (B.D.C.). In this stroke the intake valve must be in the open position while the piston pulls an air-fuel mixture into the cylinder by producing vacuum pressure into the cylinder through its downward motion. The piston is moving down as air is being sucked in by the downward motion against the piston. 2. Compression: This stroke begins at B.D.C, or just at the end of the suction stroke, and ends at T.D.C. In this stroke the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture in preparation for ignition during the power stroke (below). Both the intake and exhaust valves are closed during this stage. 3. Combustion: Also known as power or ignition. This is the start of the second revolution of the four stroke cycle. At this point the crankshaft has completed a full 360 degree revolution. While the piston is at T.D.C. (the end of the compression stroke) the compressed air-fuel mixture is ignited by a spark plug (in a gasoline engine) or by heat generated by high compression (diesel engines), forcefully returning the piston to B.D.C.
