To earn the respect of all individuals, including minority and disadvantaged persons, by maintaining a knowledgeable, responsive, well-trained and accountable work force that discharges their duties and responsibilities with evidence of fairness, tolerance and equality. To reduce the opportunity for the commission of crime by implementing effective crime prevention strategies, fully investigating crimes when they occur and expeditiously apprehending criminal offenders. To identify, address and resolve the root causes of community problems and concerns in concert with citizen groups and representatives through the use of community oriented policing strategies. 5 Chief’s Message Honorable Irvana Wilks, Mayor Board of Trustees and Mr. Michael Janonis, Village Manager On behalf of the members of the Police Department, I herein submit our 2010 Annual Report. This report provides summaries and highlights of the Police Department‘s activities during the past year. It also includes descriptions of the department‘s major programs, initiatives and accomplishments. The accomplishments realized by the department during 2010 were the result of an effective team effort put forth by a group of professional and committed law enforcement officers and support staff. I remain confident in the ability of this law enforcement agency to meet its mandate of safeguarding the community, by delivering a comprehensive array of law enforcement services and programs administered by a well-trained, courteous, culturally diverse and sensitive work force. The program, entitled “KICKIN’ IT WITH THE COPS” proved to be exceptionally well received by the community. The program came to fruition thanks to the support of several area businesses and the many volunteers, who not only helped run the event, but also served as role models for all the attendees.
