Located in northern Passaic County New Jersey, the township is less than fifteen minutes from the Route 23/Rt 287 corridor, approximately 40 miles west of New York City and is in close proximity to the academic communities of Montclair State University, William Paterson University, Ramapo College, and several community colleges. The demographically diverse community, which includes professionals and executives, as well as small business owners and people working in the trades, has attracted families to the beautiful setting and excellent school system. West Milford High School focuses on a college preparatory curriculum, featuring 19 Honors, 5 Dual Enrollment and 21 Advanced Placement courses. Of the class of 2019, 78% went on to study at 4-year or 2-year colleges. Many of these students are in the first generation of their families to attend college. We also recognize that all of our students are unique individuals comprising a wide range of interests, abilities, and goals. Therefore, we are committed to providing an educational program suitable to the needs of every student. This commitment leads us to provide a challenging and comprehensive education in an orderly and safe environment which enriches the intellectual, cultural, and ethical lives of our students. We strive to produce lifelong learners dedicated to realizing their full potential. The West Milford educational experience nurtures their development as individuals who are confidant participants in the global community. ADMINISTRATION STUDENTS Matthew Strianse, Principal West Milford High School students are high achievers Nicholas Pollaro , Assistant Principal in a challenging scholastic environment. A high percentage John Shutte, Assistant Principal of students balance the core curriculum and elective courses with participation in one or more of the 23 varsity sports and dozens of student activities. GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT Karen Johnson, Supervisor of Guidance ext 7041 CURRICULUM Melissa Csengeto, ext 7045 West Milford High School requires students to complete a rigorous Monika Drucker, ext 7046 curriculum. The school day is 8 periods, including lunch and physical Donald Heaney, ext 7047 education. Students in grades 9-12 are required to carry a minimum of Dana Lambert, ext 7043 30 credits per year. In order to graduate students must earn 125 credits. 4 years of English 3 years of Mathematics FACULTY 3 years of Science West Milford High School’s faculty consists of 125 3 years of Social Studies 1 year of Foreign Language highly-qualified individuals, a majority of whom hold 4 years of Physical Education/Health advanced degrees. West Milford High School faculty 1 year of Visual or Performing Arts members are frequently recognized for their 1 year of Practical Art/Career Exploration achievements both in and out of the classroom. .5 year of Personal Finance CLASS RANK CLASS OF 2019 The grade point average is based upon 4.0 system with Class Size: 302 all subjects included. Junior and Senior year cumulative GPA and rank are indicated on the final transcript. Rank is Student Distinctions determined by a weighted GPA. Both Honor and AP level AP Scholars: 21 Scholars, 3 with Honors, courses receive an extra point. GPA and Rank are cumulative 16 with Distinction, 1 National after the 6th and 7th semester.
