MAGAZINE (850) 222 -3222 | myafchome.org 27 of 34 Macy's Shop For A Cause Benefits the AFC Foundation, Inc. Colleges Stepping Up! By Barbara Cohen Pippin

This past year, several colleges stepped up to work with charities throughout Florida. In July, the Association of Florida Colleges Foundation Inc. announced its support of the AFC Retirees Committee and its participation in the ‘Macy’s Shop For A Cause’. The money would be used to provide charitable and educational financial support to members of the Association of Florida Colleges. The AFC is pleased to report that its first ‘Macy’s Shop For A Cause’ fundraising initiative was a great success, raising $1,500 in a few short weeks.

The first to respond to the call for volunteers were retirees: Nancy Buhl of Palm Beach State College, John and Dolores Teter of St. Petersburg College, Gerri Singleton of Santa Fe College, Lafran Redding of Hillsborough Community College, and Erin McColskey of Palm Beach State College. All set to work selling tickets on behalf of their respective colleges.

Unfortunately, time did not allow for a personal thank you during the AFC Annual Meeting and Conference to those who coordinated the event, but if it had, Dana Livesay and Kimberly Baker of Hillsborough Community College would have been at the top of the list for taking the idea from the AFC newsletter blast and putting it into action. They were later joined by Daniella Pierre and Victoria Hernandez of Miami Dade College, Kim Van Vliet of St. Johns River State College, Tracy Glidden of Eastern Florida State College, and Amy English of Florida SouthWestern State College, Susan Taylor of North Florida Community College, Mary Heikkinen of Lake-Sumter State College, Mercedes Clements and Sharon Ielfield of Daytona State College, Evan Berry of Indian River State College, Barbara Wells of St. Petersburg College, Tom Mason of Santa Fe College, Robin Robinson and Tracy Porter of Polk State College, and Jessie Clayton, Randey Burnett, and Scott Balog of Tallahassee Community College.

To all those who contributed their time and resources to make this event a great success, we can’t thank you enough!
