Play Synopses Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill by Jay Kettering In this dark comedy, we find Bill, a middle-aged man, sitting on a riverbank. Bill's plan is simple: first, catch one more beautiful trout from his favorite spot on the Blackfoot River; second, blow his brains out. But his plans are interrupted by a young stranger singing a familiar tune. As the two bond over beer and painkillers, an alluring creature emerges from the water . . . Can Bill find redemption in the wreckage of his own life? Maybe time will tell.

Muriel and Abby Find Irving by David Muschell Muriel and Abilene are best friends and both have gotten new jobs in the city. When they come home late one Friday night, there on Muriel's couch is the body of a man neither knows. What follows is a comedy of errors and a testing of their friendship. How did the body get there? Was he murdered? Muriel and Abby will let you know. More than a murder mystery/comedy, Muriel and Abby Find Irving examines friendship and reasons for living… and dying.

Partners by Michael Huth The dictionary has ten definitions for partner. This play explores some of these as they involve the characters differently. While the word implies sharing, the reality is somewhat different. Can you share and be selfish at the same time? Perhaps, but where will it leave you?

Roommates by Chuck Bona Two elderly women go out to their usual restaurant for lunch and get into an absurd discussion about cookies and fish sandwiches. Serendipity by Lynn-Steven Johanson When James is shown into the hospital's waiting room, he assumes he is there for a routine visit prior to do- nating an organ to his twin brother. But when Gisele enters, his day veers off in a direction he could not have imagined. She is also there for some preparatory work for her upcoming breast augmentation surgery. At first the seemingly bizarre young woman takes him aback. But as they wait to be called in for their respec- tive appointments, the two strike up a conversation and find they are mutually attracted to one another.

Where the Dust Doesn’t Sparkle by Judy DiVita Jim and Angie Love each other, but don’t see eye to eye on a life-changing decision. They try to convince each other of their way of thinking until some surprising news might turn everything around. It’s a light- hearted glimpse at one family’s leap from the 50’s culture and place they were comfortable with and knew well to another place and a new era.

Wrecking Ball by Therese Harrold A neighborhood grocery store owner, who is so much more than that faces the mortality embedded in the immortality of integrity, dedication, passion, charity and friendship as time marches on.

Cast Renata Allelujka (Shelly in Partners) has previously appeared in Women of Lockerbie, Directors' Workshop productions of Check, Please and Nobody Famous, the Summer Short Not Good Enough, and the mainstage holiday production The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. She has worked on TWS crews in hospitality, box office, costumes and properties. She has appeared on stage and backstage for several other west suburban theatre groups since returning to theatre in 2008 after a 29-year hiatus spent raising a family. She is looking forward to working in many more TWS productions and thanks all her family and friends for their support with making her a survivor. Thanks to Terry and the Partners cast for this enjoyable experience and Mike for putting his ideas together on paper. Enjoy yourself, Shelly.

Dave Bremer (Old Willie in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill and Eddie in Wrecking Ball) appeared recently in Slaughterhouse-Five and The Unexpected Guest. His favorite plays with TWS and at other venues have been The Drawer Boy, The Foreigner, Other People’s Money, All Because of Agatha, Lady Windermere’s Fan, Night Watch, Laura, Veronica’s Room, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, Endgame, Noises Off, and Twelfth Night. Dave, a Life member of TWS, is a past Chairman of the Board of Governors. He thanks his family and friends for their support and Linda, his bride of thirty-seven years, for still thinking that he is interesting enough to live with.

Carol Clarke (Edna in Roommates) was last seen on the TWS Mainstage in Waiting in the Wings. She also appeared in Cadillac, Advice and Consent, two Directors’ Workshop plays and four Holiday Shows. Carol was Hospitality Chair for 13 years, served on the Board of Governors, and was Group Sales Co-Chair. She has also worked on TWS crews for set painting, props, costumes and publicity. During the last few years Carol performed for Naples Players (Distracted), The Island Theatre Company in Marco Island (Bad Year for Tomatoes) and Let's Put on a Show Productions in Naples (The Lyons). Love to Michael and the twins.

Tristan Collins (Billy in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill and Dude in There will be Oranges) enjoys every second working with Theater of Western Springs. He recently appeared in several CTWS and HSR shows including The Starry Messenger, Sparrow, Smile, and Peter Pan and Wendy. He most recently appeared in The Man Who Came to Dinner and on the mainstage and A Brief Period of Time in the Directors’ Workshop. He's been in the Theater of Western Springs since he was in grade school and he wants to thank his mother for supporting him the entire way through.

Cast Kat Creedon (Muriel in Muriel and Abby Find Irving and Rita in Wrecking Ball ) is happy to be part of the TWS family via Studio 1 and 2 and a roll in A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur. She has a background in children’s theater in Sweden and experience from Radio theater and from an Independent Film. Many years of dance training and a dream of becoming a professional dancer guided her to become a Physical therapist and to move to Chicago. She is very happy to be back in the swing of performing arts.

Tim Feeney (Bill in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill and Irving in Muriel and Abby Find Irving) has been involved in community theatre since 1998. He appeared at TWS onstage in Is He Dead?, Moonlight and Magnolias, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Author's Voice (Directors' Workshop), , Around the World in 80 Days, Dearly Departed, and others. Backstage he has worked on props, painting, and set construction crews. He also directed a 2014 Summer Short and is now writing short plays in an honest effort to save the world. Tim is the author of There will be Oranges — see additional information on Tim in the Playwrights and Directors section.

Rich Kropp (Jam in Wrecking Ball and Steve in Partners) has appeared in many TWS productions since 2001, including Don’t Dress for Dinner, Unnecessary Farce, Slaughterhouse-Five, Dracula, The Melville Boys, Cadillac, Book of Days, , The Boys Next Door, Spinning Into Butter, Anna Karenina, Charley’s Aunt, and Tartuffe as well as the Directors’ Workshop productions The Query, Ready or Not It's Time to Get Started, Eddie Appleseed, Out of Gas, The Tender Offer, Heart Attack!, Band of Gold, She Drives Me Crazy, Once Upon a Time in the Suburbs, Entertaining Mr. Helms, and The Chore; and Holiday Specials James and the Giant Peach and A Christmas Carol.

Jason McCargo (James in Serendipity and Aaron in Partners) has appeared in TWS’s Picnic, Summer and Smoke, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Trip to Bountiful and most recently, The Man Who Came to Dinner. He also has appeared in many Directors’ Workshop producdtions since joining the theater. Backstage Jason has had the pleasure of working on several crews, including hospitality, set construction, properties and publicity. Cast Stacy McCargo (Mary in Wrecking Ball and Liz in Partners) is happy to be a part of the New Plays Workshop at TWS. Previous appearances include Nicky in Beautifully (world premier) Jessie Mae Watts in A Trip to Bountiful, Susie in Wit, and roles in several Directors’ Workshop productions, including Virus, Hold 'Em, A Tender Offer, and The Awards Dinner. She has lent a helping hand on various crews throughout the years, frequently serving as makeup designer, hospitality and properties chair.

Jennifer Jermano Miller (Angie in Where the Dust Doesn’t Sparkle and Billie in Partners) performed last on mainstage in Don’t Dress for Dinner and previously in Dracula, The Odd Couple (Female Version) and Hotel Paradiso. She most recently co- chaired paint and worked on the costume crew for A Christmas Story, and co-designed costumes for Willy Wonka and The Stinky Cheese Man. Working in all areas of TWS production, she recently served for two years as the Chair of the Board of Governors. Elsewhere, Jennifer raised over $11,000 by dancing a quick-step in a benefit for The South Bend Center for the Homeless. She serves on several not-for-profit boards and is Director of Advancement at St. John of the Cross Parish School.

Arlene Page (Nurse in Serendipity, Wanda in Roommates and Sister Camillus in Wrecking Ball) During her 20 years at TWS, she has had the opportunity to work on many crews, help out on events and work as a makeup designer, assistant stage manager, publicist and properties designer, most recently for Boy Meets Girl. As the other half of what has become known as the Page-Hannigan team she has co-designed props for Sylvia, Lady Windermere’s Fan, Sly Fox, , How the Other Half Loves and The Diary of Anne Frank. She has designed and chaired makeup most recently for The Unexpected Guest and The Lion in Winter. Front of house, Arlene frequently works hospitality and serves as house manager. She was most recently seen onstage as Sarita in Waiting in the Wings.

Gina Palmer (Chick in There will be Oranges and Abilene in Muriel and Abby Find Irving) has been seen in multiple stage productions throughout the West and Far West suburbs. . Cast Tammy White (Brooke in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill, Waitress in Roommates and and Dunham in Wrecking Ball) was most recently onstage as Suzette in Don’t Dress for Dinner. Behind the scenes, Tammy designed the lights for The Dinner Party. She holds a B.F.A. in Acting from Illinois State University and an M.A. in Communications from Governor's State University. Tammy has also trained with The , Steppenwolf and Second City. She has worked in network television and corporate video production and also has taught acting to kids and young adults. When not brewing for Starbucks she is a Ghost Host for Haunted Hometowns. This performance is dedicated to her loving family.

Mike Williams (Mr. Pink in There will be Oranges and Jim in Where the Dust Doesn’t Sparkle) appeared in Sense and Sensibility, Hotel Paradiso, Black Comedy, The Boys Next Door, Advise and Consent, Miracle on 34th Street, On Golden Pond, The General from America and The Cricket on the Hearth. He appeared in the Directors' Workshop productions Lead Me Into Dark, NOK and Miss You, and has worked on the properties and hospitality crews for many productions. Mike lives in Hinsdale with his spouse, Kathryn, and their four children.

Kelly Winters (Gisele in Serendipity and Rainbow in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill) is new to TWS, and is excited to be given the opportunity to perform in the New Plays Workshop. She has helped out with a few crews including properties, hospitality and box office. Kelly lives in Brookfield with her wonderful husband, Jonathan, and beautiful baby, Bernadette.

Playwrights and Directors Ed Barrow (Director – Wrecking Ball) edits the programs for TWS/CTWS and is a member of the Directors’ Workshop, where he has directed and stage managed many plays. He has served on the Board of Governors, Budget and Finance Committee, the Play Selection and Casting Committee and the Education Committee. As much fun as committees are, Ed has also been assistant director, stage manager, sound designer and dramaturg, and facilitated Jodie Brigg’s Theatre Appreciation Workshop. Among the many plays he presented to the Directors’ Workshop, Arcadia, Rashomon and Mirror of the Invisible World are his favorites.

Chuck Bona (Playwright Roommates) is a life member of TWS. He has written full length plays for the Theatre Shoppe in Chicago and for TWS. He is a graduate of Second City Improve and hsd acted briefly on the Second City stage and acted in several small Chicago theaters and numerous TWS plays.

Judy DiVita, (Playwright Where the Dust Doesn’t Sparkle) has a BA in Drama, and often directs in the Directors’ Workshop and elsewhere. She was spurred to begin to write short plays by the TWS Shorts for a Summer’s Evening in 2000. Some of her directing favorites are Design For Murder, Superior Donuts, , and The Music Man. She was last seen on stage at TWS last season. Some acting favorites are Necessary Targets and A Voice of My Own. A computer professional for 25 years, she is now an actor in her day job. Judy dedicates this production to her mom, Angela McCrea, who inspired her and loved seeing all of her shows.

Tim Feeney (Playwright There will be Oranges) has been involved in community theatre since 1998. He has worked in many onstage roles and also backstage on props, painting, and set construction crews. He also directed a 2014 Summer Short and is now writing short plays in an honest effort to save the world. Last year his plays Tracks and Believe It Or Not were produced in a new works playwright festival at the Premiere Theatre Company. Tim is also a seasoned actor and backstage hand. Tim is both Bill in Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill and Irving in Muriel and Abby Find Irving. For more on Tim’s acting and back stage credits, please see his acting bio in the Cast section. Playwrights and Directors Daina Giesler (Director – Muriel and Abby Find Irving) directed the Forum production of Medea, several Directors’ Workshop productions including Overruled, Sanctuaries and most recently Trifles and A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur. She appeared in Thirst and choreographed Dark Of The Moon, Midsummer Nights Dream and Babes In Toyland. In other venues Daina was Artistic Director for Theatre Charlotte in North Carolina, Oswego Playhouse in the Fox Valley, and Dainamite Studios in River Forest. She has taught theatre and directed at University of St. Francis in Joliet, University of North Carolina in Charlotte and Triton College in River Grove. She holds a Masters in Theatre from NYU and in Dance from Columbia College. Most recently Dania directed Shakespeare and Children's Theatre at the Prisco Center in Aurora. Therese Harrold (Playwright – Wrecking Ball), an active TWS member since 1988, last appeared in The Man Who Came to Dinner. Some of her favorite roles are Miss Marple in Agatha Christie's A Murder Is Announced, Miss Clavel in Madeline's Christmas for CTWS, Nell in Samuel Becket's Endgame, and her first role at TWS, Bessy Legg in Hogan's Goat. Terry was costume co-designer for Noises Off and enjoyed working on costumes, make-up crew and hospitality. Terry has been moderator of TWS Playwrights Group since 2012. As a student at large at Columbia College and in workshops at Chicago Dramatist this past year, she has taken courses in writing for the stage and television. She directed her full-length adult drama Heirs at Premiere Theatre /Prisco Community Center in Aurora in June of this year. Having retired from teaching Communication Arts at the secondary level, she now enjoys engaging primary grade students in writing stories and dramatic in Fox Valley Park District’s after school program. Terry is a Dramatist Guild member.

Michael Huth (Playwright – Partners) has been writing plays for over 10 years and has had five of his short plays performed. He is a member of TWS’ Directors’ Workshop and the Playwrights Group. At TWS, he has been Annual Set Construction Chair for 15 years. Mike designed sets for Time Stands Still, Picnic, Superior Donuts, The Trip to Bountiful, The Devil’s Disciple, George Washington Slept Here, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, The Enchanted April, Morning Star, and The Diary of Anne Frank. He was dramaturg for Time Stands Still, Boy Gets Girl, Ghost in the Machine, Mauritius, The Drawer Boy, Dinner with Friends and Cadillac. Mike has been Editor of the TWS Actives Newsletter for 12 years.

Lynn-Steven Johanson (Playwright Serendipity) holds a MFA degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and works at Western Illinois University. His plays have won numerous awards including the Nantucket Short Play Festival, the East Valley Children’s Theatre Playwriting Contest, the Snowdance Comedy Festival, the Old Opera House's New Voices Play Festival, the Pend Oreille Playhouse's One-Act Play Festival, and the Tallahassee Writers Association's Project Stagelight Award. His plays have been produced in New York, Los Angeles, and numerous cities throughout the United States as well as in Australia, India, and the United Kingdom. Playwrights and Directors Jay Kettering (Playwright Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill) Jay's recent productions include The Church of Pancakes, part three of his radio series Notes From The Huntley Project, produced by Montana Public Radio; Rock Talk, a ten-minute play produced by Third Ear Productions in Missoula; and Shootman, a short video broadcast on Missoula Community Access Television. Jay has also written three plays for Montana Repertory Theatre’s Educational Outreach Tour, including: Writing Wild: The Adventures of Jack London in 2011. Terry Kozlowski (Director – Partners) has been active at TWS for over 20 years. She has been Directors’ Workshop Chair, directed Wildwood Park (DW) and many other productions in Chicagoland and Atlanta. She has been seen at TWS in Book of Days, Twelve Angry Women, You Can't Take It With You and four Directors' Workshop scenes. Degreed in theatre, Terry worked behind the scenes and been onstage in leading Shakespeare and musical roles. She also serves on the Board of the Griffin Theatre Company in Chicago. She was featured on FoxNews, NBC, and in the Chicago Tribune as a Career Strategist and Job Interview expert.

David Muschell (Playwright Muriel and Abby Find Irving) has won awards and honors for his plays from MultiStages in New York City, Stage 3 Theatre Company, The Southern Playwrights Competition, The Southeast Playwrights Project, The BLT National New Play Competition, The Beverly Hills Theatre Guild, The Southern Playwrights Competition, and The Alleyway Theatre in Buffalo, New York. Thirteen of his plays have been published, including The Jesus Trip by Baker’s Plays of Boston (now owned by Samuel French), Mixed Emotions by The Dramatic Publishing Company, and Amelia, Once More by Pioneer Drama. His work has been produced throughout the US, and in Canada and Japan. He received his MFA in Playwriting from Goddard College.

Linda Roberts (Director – Serendipity) proud TWS Life Member, has served in every backstage capacity at TWS, directed more than two dozen Mainstage, Forum and Directors’ Workshop productions, and acted in independent films and 50+plays here and at other area theatres. She recently portrayed the Duchess of Berwick in Lady Windermere's Fan for Dead Writers and will soon play the mother-of-the-bride at Hammond’s Towle Theatre. She’s thrice been Annual Production Coordinator, twice a BOG member, a Long-Range Planning Committee member, and a Personnel Committee member and chair. Linda is Founding Artistic Director of Roberts Marionettes and is a member of Chicago's Jeff Awards Committee, for which she judges more than 150 plays each year. In her spare time she paints silk and designs earrings.

Playwrights and Directors Rick S. Snyder (Director – There Will be Oranges) has directed Directors’ Workshops productions including Instructions to the Audience, The Church of Satan, Coffee House, 30 minutes to Charlie and other one-act plays. Rick is a two-time graduate of Studio, once in the mid-80s and again in 2007. Since returning to TWS in 2007 from a that started in 1985, he appeared as Wesley in The Fifth of July and played various parts in Slaughterhouse-Five and in Taste of the Arts fundraising skits. He has also stage managed and acted in Directors’ Workshop productions and has assisted in many regular season productions with lights, sound and properties. He was Dramaturg for Don’t Dress for Dinner, Assistant Stage Manager for Moonlight and Magnolias and Co- Sound Designer for Waiting in the Wings. Rick came to TWS in 1967 through CTWS. CTWS High-school appearances included Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and Prospero in The Tempest. In 1972 he played Prince John in TWS’s Henry IV, Part I. He has chaired the TWS PMP (Publicity, Marketing and Promotions) Committee for 4 years. He wishes to thank three invaluable Director’s Assistants for their help with recent Directors’ Workshop productions: Jennifer Collins, Maggie Opal and Arlene Bibbs. Rick’s bio is really, really long because he helped edit this document. Professionally, he helps people get ready to enjoy their future.

Cal Turner (Director – Roommates and Where the Dust Doesn’t Sparkle) is a Life Member and Active Laureate of TWS. Cal was the guest director for the TWS shows The Melville Boys, The Enchanted April, , The Road To Mecca and Wenceslas Square. He has also directed for Grove Players and many plays for the Directors’ Workshop program here at TWS. He was last seen on stage in Is He Dead? Cal served has served as stage manager for many shows, most recently, Time Stand Still and designed the lights for countless shows, most recently, Don't Dress for Dinner.

Edward W. Wavak ( (Director – Flotsam Jetsam and Bill , Co-coordinator of the NPW and Chair of Directors’ Workshop) has directed numerous shows in the Directors’ Workshop program here at TWS including some new plays including Virtuoso in this year’s Shorts for a Summer’s Evening as well as classics like 27 Wagons Full of Cotton last January. Ed has directed the Mainstage production of The Unexpected Guest and TWS’ Forum production of Other Peoples Money and was the Assistant Director for Waiting in the Wings. Outside TWS, he directed for Circle Theatre in their then New Plays Festival. Ed has also served as stage manager on many shows most recently, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. He was last seen on stage in Is He Dead? Ah! Wilderness, Captive Audience Directors ( ’ Workshop), On Golden Pond, Dearly Departed and The Visit . Ed serves as Chair of the Directors’ Workshop program and the Education committee and has served as TWS Treasurer, production coordinator and as a member of the Board of Governors. Ed has written numerous short plays and has had four of them produced. He thanks Brian for being a great assistant and his parents for their never ending support of his pursuits.

Crew and Staff Dorothy Attermeyer (Director’s Assistant for Muriel and Abby Find Irving) last appeared on mainstage in Murder at the Vicarage and before that in Blue Yonder with Pattie Duke. She enjoyed playing the scatter-brained Miss Merton in Cat's Cradle and Juror No. 9 in Twelve Angry Women. Backstage, Dorothy has run lights and sound, occasionally working costumes and makeup. She serves frequently for Hospitality and Sandwich Sunday. Dorothy has performed with the Grove Players, Pendulum, Vortex, and Limelight theatres. Offstage, she has registered her doll museum as a charity in the State of Illinois — currently operated from her home, but she looking for a suitable venue for the museum.

Laura Byrd (Lighting Designer) is thrilled to make her lighting design debut on this exciting New Plays Festival. Going into her second year as an active member at The Theatre of Western Springs, she has appeared in a Director's Workshop and has been on several lighting and costume crews. When not at the theatre, Laura can be seen teaching history and science to middle and high schoolers. Much thanks to Brandon for all his support on this show! .

Brian Centers (Director’s Assistant for Flotsam, Jetsam and Bill) also was the Director’s Assistant for Ed for the Directors’ Workshop production of 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, was set painting co-chair for Beautifully and has worked on numerous backstage crews at TWS over the years, including properties and hospitality. He worked on properties and set painting crews for many shows and was properties designer for Pride and Prejudice and The Seagull. Brian is a former CTWS student and is glad to be of help in any capacity to such a wonderful family.

Jennifer Collins (Director’s Assistant for There Will Be Oranges) is a proud CTWS alumnus. She has appeared in The Memory Garden, Lives of the Great Waitresses, 30 Minutes to Charlie, No Skronking, The Whole Shebang, Waiting in the Wings and She’ll Never Tell. She is also involved with painting, props and hospitality crews. Jennifer is a pre-school teacher in Downers Grove and loves to incorporate creative dramatics in the classroom. She thanks her parents for exposing her to the best and worst of Chicago theatre, the Baker family for their loving patience, and her husband and five sons for their encouragement and her title, “Drama Queen!"

Crew and Staff Greg Kolack (NPW Co-coordinator and Directors’ Workshop Mentor) returns for his second year as TWS Artist in Residence. He has worked professionally in Chicago for the past 39 years, and is the recipient of 3 Jeff Citations and 3 After Dark Awards. At TWS, he has directed Is He Dead?, Becky’s New Car, Time Stands Still, Proof, Black Comedy, and Sylvia. Greg directed the critically acclaimed, Midwest Premiere of Columbinis at Raven Theatre, for which he received a Jeff Award for Outstanding Direction. He also directed The Exonerated at Raven, a hit production of The Odd Couple at Drury Lane Oakbrook, The Laramie Project / The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later at Redtwist Theatre, the Chicago premiere of Tim Robbins’ Embedded for Prop Thtr, and the world premiere of the critically acclaimed All through the Night at Bailiwick Repertory. Greg served as Co-Artistic Director of Circle Theatre in Forest Park for 7 years. His most notable Circle directing credits include the world premiere of The Crime of the Century by Rebecca Gilman (which he also conceived,) and A Piece of My Heart, both of which received Jeff Citations for his direction and for outstanding production. Greg has also directed and acted with theatres all over Chicago and the Midwest

Dennis Hudson (Director’s Assistant for Wrecking Ball) has served on the Board of Governors, is an Active Laureate and TWS Life Member. He currently is a member of the Play Selection and Casting Committee and has served on numerous other committees and in chairmanships over the years. Appearances on stage included Book of Days, Scrooge: The Musical, Around the World in 80 Days, Shadowlands, Moon Over Buffalo, A Small Family Business, Rumors, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Three Sisters, The Cherry Orchard, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Runner Stumbles, , , and Design for Murder. Dennis and daughter, Karla, cordially invite theatre-minded persons to join TWS and share the unique excitement of live theatre.

Maggie Opal (Stage Manager) is a TWS Life member who originally became an Active in 1976 when she served as Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for Spoon River Anthology and Lion In Winter. She rejoined TWS in 2010 after 14 years in Omaha and was glad to retake the TWS Studio classes! She enjoyed being an ASM for Don't Dress For Dinner last year and Assistant to the Director for four Directors’ Workshop productions. Maggie's other favorite theater jobs are working the light and sound crews. Maggie is an active Grove Player where she was Assistant Director /Stage Manager for The Children’s Hour last year. Other favorite stage managing engagements elsewhere include Sunday In the Park with George, Camelot, and . Maggie's favorite recent TWS stage roles were in such Directors’ Workshop one-acts as Connie in Bearclaw and a waitress in Lives of the Great Waitresses. Favorite roles elsewhere include Ethel in Moon Over Buffalo and many singing, dancing character roles in musicals.

Crew and Staff Thomas D. Schutt (Sound Designer) is a graduate of the Children's Theatre of Western Springs and High School Repertory program where he appeared in The Cricket on the Hearth, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and Hush: An Interview with America. More recently Tom has appeared on the mainstage in Design for Murder and in the Directors' Workshops productions of The Spot, While the Auto Waits and Coffee House. Backstage, Tom has worked as an Assistant Stage Manager for The Man Who Came to Dinner and as part of the props crew for Is He Dead. Carol Suda (Director’s Assistant for Serendipity) Carol was recently seen in Lead me into Dark a new play produced in the Directors’ Workshop ( DW). Her favorite roles are Edith in Blithe Spirit , Edna Louise in Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, and the court reporter in DW production Verbatim. She enjoyed dancing the minute in Pride and Prejudice. As a life member she performed many roles behind the scenes over the years - costumes, makeup, lights, assisting, stage managing even directing once. She wishes to thank her TWS family for the support, inspiration and challenges, which created for her memorable moments.

Eddie Sugarman (TWS Executive Artistic Director) Eddie Sugarman is the Executive Artistic Director of the Theatre of Western Springs. He has acted in, directed and produced a great many plays and musicals. He is an award-winning playwright, was a stuntman on Broadway and has had the pleasure of helping to lead several outstanding Chicago-area theaters. Eddie holds a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University and a BFA in Musical Theater from the University of Michigan. For two years, he was Managing Director of Berwyn’s 16th Street Theater, winner of the 2013 Broadway in Chicago Emerging Theatre Award. Prior to that, he worked in the marketing department of the Tony Award-winning Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. Before that, he produced 18 plays and musicals during his three seasons as Managing Director of the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center in Cicero. Eddie’s musical, Meet John Doe, (written with composer Andrew Gerle) enjoyed its world premiere at the historic Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C., won two Helen Hayes Awards and is licensed by the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization. He lives right here in Western Springs with his wonderful wife, Kara, and their very cool kids, Sam and Lucy. He is very happy to be making art in his hometown at TWS.
