Non-Equity Jeff Award Nominations Rescinded for The Hypocrites Additional Nominations Announced Saturday, April 25, 2015 - Chicago, IL. Early Friday, April 24, 2015, Sean Graney, who recently returned to Chicago to resume his post as Artistic Director of The Hypocrites, informed the Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee that he just learned the theater company had been operating under an Equity CAT-N contract for the duration of the 2014-2015 Non-Equity season. Over the past year, requests for judging its productions were made to the Non-Equity Wing without the committee having knowledge of the company’s Equity status. The Jeff Committee was aware that two of the productions had Equity performers (as indicated in the program); however, the committee has now confirmed that these were not guest contracts. As such, the company’s productions are not eligible for consideration in the Non- Equity Wing, and all related Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations have been rescinded. The productions in question will be shifted to the Equity Wing for awards consideration during its current season, which commenced on August 1, 2014 and will end on July 30, 2015. LIFELINE THEATRE ANNOUNCES SIX NEW ENSEMBLE MEMBERS CHICAGO – Lifeline Theatre is proud to announce six new members of its artistic ensemble: Bilal Dardai, Andrés Enriquez, Diane D. Fairchild, Anthony Kayer, Martel Manning, and Michael McKeogh. Lifeline’s ensemble determines the company’s artistic programming and provides leadership, support, and counsel in the play development process. Now in its 35th season, Lifeline Theatre is driven by a passion for story. Our ensemble process supports writers in the development of literary adaptations and new work, and our theatrical and educational programs foster a lifelong engagement with literature and the arts. A cultural anchor of Rogers Park, we are committed to deepening our connection to an ever-growing family of artists and audiences, both near and far. Lifeline Theatre – Big Stories, Up Close.     OCTOBER 2016 Welcome to October Sky! We can’t imagine a more perfect show to give our 2016–2017 Season a great launch (if you’ll pardon the pun). New musicals are, of course, one of The Old Globe’s specialties, and the upcoming season is filled with exactly the kind of work the Globe does best. In this very theatre, you’ll have a chance to see a revival of Steve Martin’s hilarious Picasso at the Lapin Agile; the exciting backstage drama Red Velvet; and the imaginative, fable- like musical The Old Man and The Old Moon. And of course, we’re bringing back The Grinch for its 19th year! Across the plaza in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, we hope you’ll join us for work by some of the most exciting voices in the American theatre today: award-winning actor/ songwriter Benjamin Scheuer (The Lion), Globe newcomer Nick Gandiello (The Blameless), the powerful and trenchant Dominique Morisseau (Skeleton Crew), and the ingenious Fiasco Theater, with their own particular spin on Molière’s classic The Imaginary Invalid.     Contact: Cassandra Kirkpatrick [email protected] (312) 957-0000 Chicago Philharmonic Performs Playful Soundtracks to Hilarious Silent Films in the North Shore Chicago, IL - (March 11 2019) Following critically acclaimed, sold-out performances with the Joffrey Ballet and English National Ballet, the Chicago Philharmonic returns to the North Shore to present another unforgettable multimedia production combining film and classical music. Featuring fresh new soundtracks by Tom Nazziola, a prolific composer and conductor best known for his work on film, television and musicals, Silent Sherlock will astound and entertain audiences at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie this March. Nazziola will lead the Chicago Philharmonic ensemble in three new film scores to accompany a live screening of movies from the golden age of silent film in the 1920s. Headlining the program is Sherlock Jr., starring perhaps the greatest comedic genius of the 20th century, Buster Keaton. Hilarious hijinks ensue as Keaton attempts to impress his sweetheart, solve a mystery, and save the day. Accompanying spectacular cinematography is a colorful palette of violin, piano, bass, and winds painted with Nazziola’s masterful hand. Silent Sherlock also features the short Sure-Locked Homes with legendary cartoon character Felix the Cat and Fadeaway, at the time a revolutionary blend of animation and live action, with vividly entertaining Koko the Clown. Devil has his 'Day' Signal Ensemble Theatre opens its season with the world premiere of "Devil's Day Off" by Jon Steinhagen ("Blizzard '67," "Dating Walter Dante"). Set during a record-breaking heat wave that is accompanied by massive power outages, "Devil's Day Off" chronicles the fear, humor and heroism of the event through multiple vignettes. Co-artistic director Ronan Mara directs the premiere, which features 13 actors playing 100 characters.
