Key Heritage Experience

Julie has many years of varied experience within the design and construction industry, with an extensive knowledge of historic landscape restoration projects as well as experience of various building project types in both the private and public sectors, including industrial, health, commercial and educational.

Projects have been both new build and refurbishment from inception to completion with contract values up to £60 million. Having qualified in both Architecture and Landscape Architecture Julie is experienced in both large scale corporate and small scale projects.

Before joining Lockhart Garratt in February 2020 Julie worked on a number of projects which used both her architectural and landscape experience. Recent design schemes for various clients included the following.

Proposed new South Cheshire Growth Village Housing scheme for Bloor Homes which involved a heritage sensitive site incorporating a listed Humphrey Repton landscape.

Work for Anglesey County Council Including the design of a new visitors centre and landscaped park at Breakwater Park AONB .

Napton Brickworks An environmental assessment and development of landscape proposals for the historic site to include a new lake and lakeside recreational facilities with holiday accommodation, conservation of native wildlife areas resulting from the sites history and landscape design for mixed work/live units within this canal side site.

Julie spent several years working as a landscape architect for Parklands Consortium, a small Historic Landscape practice specialising in Landscapes by Humphrey Repton and Capability Brown. During her time at Parklands Consortium Julie worked on the following projects.

Pavilion Gardens, A 4 year redevelopment of Pavilion Gardens at Buxton (designed by and Edward Milner), Heritage Lottery Funded on site restoration of public park including lake, promenade, bandstand, play area, adventure play area and general parkland.

Arnot Hill Park, Arnold Nottingham HLF design and construction of the restoration of early C20th public park including lake, play area, walled rose garden and general parkland.

Tatton Park for the National Trust (designed by Joseph Paxton and Edward Milner) Landscape assessment and strategic Masterplan development for whole site.

Early C20th Private domestic garden in Dorridge Design restoration and implementation of private garden.

Landscape assessment and strategic Masterplan development also for :  Hewell Grange near Bromsgrove (designed by Humphry Repton and Capability Brown);  Stoneleigh Abbey in Warwickshire (designed by Humphry Repton);  Attingham Park in Shropshire (designed by Humphry Repton); and  Catton Park, Norfolk. Humphrey Repton’s first major commission in 1788.
