The first tournament had the 60 and 65 teams at the Iowa Senior Open in Waterloo. The 60 team tried out some new play- ers and the 65 team welcomed both new and old teammates who aged up. The 65 team lost a versatile player for the year in Steve Favorite with torn rotator cuff on his non-throwing shoulder. The Steve Simmons Memorial tour- nament in Little Canada, Minn., had the 65, 70 and 75 teams competing, with new 70 managers Chuck Burczyk and Rick Roloff, who led the team in its first championship of the year. Four teams traveled to the Quad Cities Classic in Rock Island, Ill., in late June. The 60 and 65 teams started out with two wins before being eliminated, while the 70s continued its dominating play to cap- ture a tournament championship.
