on each of the nearly 1,500 ships around the world that carry the flag of The Ba- hamas. Over the years, Maritime Education for the Officer level has been simply too costly for Bahamians as this would have required study abroad. Hence, LJM- MA, a non-profit tertiary-level institution, the first of its kind in The Bahamas, was established and incorporated on December 13, 2011 in honour of the Presi- dent of The Campbell Group of Companies, Lowell J. Mortimer, O.D., OBE, the Institution’s major benefactor. LJM Maritime Academy will be “anchoring dreams and piloting careers” in this great industry.
