Newcomb picked up his eighth victory of the season when the Statesmen 4/6/2012 @ University of North Alabama* W, 9-4 defeated West Georgia. In 81.1 innings, Newcomb has given up 24 earned runs, walked 17, and struck out 78. 4/6/2012 @ University of North Alabama* W, 9-7 • Colton Mitchell, a junior left-handed pitcher from Lake, Miss., pitched the first perfect game in Statesmen history in a 4-0 4/7/2012 @ University of North Alabama* L, 4-1 victory over New Orleans on Apr. 14. The no-hitter was the 11th in program history, as Mitchell sat down the 21 batters he 4/10/2012 @ Mississippi Valley State University L, 2-0 faced, striking out seven.
