'Bachelor Pad 2' Recap Episode 2: Ames Brown
‘Bachelor Pad 2’ Recap Episode 2: Ames Brown Trumps them All By Lori Bizzoco Usually when a former Bachelor or Bachelorette leaves the show voluntarily, like two-time ‘Bachelor Pad’ contestant and swimsuit model, Gia Allemand did last night, it becomes the episode news headliner the next day. But last night’s storybook ending even knocked out coverage of the attention- seeking love triangle usually reserved for Jake Pavelka, Vienna Girardi and Kasey Kahl. It was a scene that leaves us understanding why even bad reality shows are beating out long- standing soap operas. You can’t make this stuff up! Last night there were two scenes that made single women everywhere believe in love again. First was the closing scene with Ivy-League, world-traveling, portfolio manager, Ames Brown. After he said a heartfelt good-bye to his newfound love and eliminated housemate, Jackie Gordon he turned around to head back towards the house. What happened next made hearts stop everywhere. Instead of continuing his walk toward the contestants, Ames slowly stopped, raised his hand and waved good-bye to them. Giving up the $250,000 prize, he sprinted back towards the limousine with Jackie inside. That fairy-tale exit trumped everything else on the show and gives romance fanatics a reason to believe that Mr. Right is a possibility, especially if you go after the awkwardly smart, rich guy wearing the hot pink pants. In Ames’ own words, “This is the happiest limo ride in Bachelor history.” The second love scene comes with ex’s, Michael Stagliano and children’s book author, Holly Durst. -

Bachelor Pad 2’
‘Bachelor Pad 2’ Contestant Kasey Kahl’s Surprising Engagement! By Emily Meyer For the ladies out there looking for a man who will guard and protect their heart, Kasey Kahl is officially off the market. The popular season six star of The Bachelorette proposed to his longtime girlfriend Amanda Waters this past weekend. As you would expect from the Bachelor Pad 2 alum, the engagement was over the top and cheesy. According to Wetpaint.com, the proposal took place in Las Vegas where Kahl got down on one knee after an elaborate show in front of friends and family. The reality star took to Twitter to announce the engagement and posted a photo of Water’s pretty new ring with the caption, “She said yes… #happiestdayofmylife #lovemyfamilyandfriends #nutriefam #holycrapimafiancee.” What are three fun and unique ways to propose? Cupid’s Advice: The story of you and your partner’s engagement will be a tale you will never forget. You’ll share the story with your friends, family, and kids (someday), so it’s no surprise that planning this important moment can be stressful. But don’t worry! Cupid has some easy and exciting ways to pop the question: 1. Use a “Marry Me” mug: If your partner loves their morning coffee or hot cocoa, this is a cute way to pop the question. Fill up a mug that has “Will you marry me?” printed on the bottom. When your sweetheart is done with their drink, drop to one knee, tell them to flip over the cup, and propose! Bachelor Nation(S): the Construction of Romantic Love and Audience Investment in the Bachelor/Ette in Australia and the United States
. Volume 15, Issue 2 November 2018 Bachelor Nation(s): The construction of romantic love and audience investment in The Bachelor/ette in Australia and the United States Jodi McAlister, Deakin University, Australia Abstract: The Bachelor/ette is a franchise with iterations in multiple major Anglophone countries. It began in the USA in 2002, but in the last five years, new versions of the franchise have emerged, including in Australia (2013-). While The Bachelor/ette is an instantly recognisable global franchise, local cultural priorities inflect both the show and the ways in which audiences react to it. This article examines this phenomenon in two territories: Australia and the United States. It will outline the diegetic differences between the two franchises, and use two key case studies to elucidate, explore, and explain some of these divergences. These two case studies – the failed romances of Bachelorette Georgia Love and runner-up Matty Johnson in The Bachelorette Australia in 2016, and Bachelorette Rachel Lindsey and runner-up Peter Kraus in the US version of The Bachelorette in 2017 – represent two instances in which audiences became deeply invested in particular love stories. Thus, I closely read both case studies with references to major recaps. By doing so, I seek to shed light on the divergent romantic cultures of the United States and Australia, and show that while there are numerous overlaps and commonalities in these cultures, there are also distinct national preferences and desires around romantic love. Keywords: romantic love; The Bachelor; The Bachelorette; reality television; recaps Introduction In 2016, after Bachelorette Georgia Love rejected Matty Johnson in favour of Lee Elliott in the finale of the second season of The Bachelorette Australia, the reaction of the audience was one of disbelief and heartbreak. -

It was the end of the pool season, but before the pool drained for the colder months, the Hinds pool committee thought it would be a fun thing to do for the dog owners in the community to let their pooches plunge in the pool. According to her owner, pool committee member Sarah Wakelin, Dottie had a great time at the pool although being a bulldog she sinks more than swims, but loved to splash around. The Hinds pool will go to the dogs again this Sunday – from 12 noon to 2pm. PHOTO LAURA BAGRIE Above – This pooch looks blissful as it enjoys a dip at the Hinds Community Pool. Thunder struck Firefighters were called to an area near Fairton after lightning splintered a tree, causing a nearby pump shed to fume. Fire and Emergency (Fenz) confirmed the strike caused smoking to the shed at a property near the intersection of Works Road and State Highway 1. A local farm manager said the strike splintered a tree, causing a current to travel to the shed about 40 metres away. Smoke could still be seen about 20 minutes later.
