Explanation of the Icon on the front cover written by Mairin "Be who God meant you to be and Wilson, parishioner. you will set the world on Fire." St. Catherine of Siena

Christ in Glory is an icon of Christ seated on a throne as the ruler of the world. His feet rest on a low stool. He is holding the in his left hand and his right hand is raised in the gesture of blessing. He is surrounded by the symbols of the evangelists Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, who all gaze in his direction. The first line of each of their books is depicted across the pages. Behind his head is a crossed halo with the Greek symbols meaning “He who is.” On either side of Christ are the letters IC XC. IC XC is an ancient Greek . IC XC is simply the first and last letter of each individual word. A bar is depicted over each to signify that it is an abbreviation. Enclosing Christ is a halo called a mandorla, from the Italian word for almond. Mandorla are often painted in concentric patterns of color which grow darker as they come closer to the center. It is significant that in this icon Christ’s hand breaches the mandorla to come into the world to be with humanity, fully God and fully human.
