Chapter 1 (pp. 7-40) provides the historical/cultural context and Chapter 2 (pp.41-93) discusses the notion of realism. Subsequent chapters analysing key films are indicated week-by-week. Also useful for reference are the brief 'A Standard Introduction to Neorealism' (pp. 409-413) and 'Historical Background for Neorealism' (pp. 414-416).
