"Tourism governance in post-war transition: the case of Kosova" Shqiperim Reka A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of Sheffield Hallam University for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy February 2017 Abstract The aim of this research study was to examine tourism governance in post-war transition with specific reference to the influence of political, economic and social factors, institutional arrangements, collaboration and power relations. Within this context, a crucial objective was to assess the role of mindset. Reviewing the literature in relation to the key concepts, it was discovered that research tends to focus on political and economic transition, whereas the social dimension, despite its importance, is largely neglected. Similarly, tourism governance has been overlooked in studies of tourism in post-war transition. Furthermore, the literature on tourism governance rarely takes the issue of mindset into account. To address these gaps in knowledge, a qualitative research approach was applied to study tourism governance in post-war transitional Kosova. -

It places Roman decision-making and action within its proper context by emphasizing the role that Greek polities and Illyrian tribes played in both the outbreak and conclusion of the war. It argues that the primary motivation behind the Roman decision to declare war against the Ardiaei in 229 was to secure the very profitable trade routes linking Brundisium to the eastern shore of the Adriatic. It was in fact the failure of the major Greek powers to limit Ardiaean piracy that led directly to Roman intervention. In the earliest phase of trans-Adriatic engagement Rome was essentially uninterested in expansion or establishing a formal hegemony in the Greek East and maintained only very loose ties to the polities of the eastern Adriatic coast. -

TRUST, but VERIFY: WHY the BLOCKCHAIN NEEDS the LAW Kevin Werbach†
TRUST, BUT VERIFY: WHY THE BLOCKCHAIN NEEDS THE LAW Kevin Werbach† ABSTRACT The blockchain could be the most consequential development in information technology since the Internet. Created to support the Bitcoin digital currency, the blockchain is actually something deeper: a novel solution to the age-old human problem of trust. Its potential is extraordinary. Yet, this approach may not promote trust at all without effective governance. Wholly divorced from legal enforcement, blockchain-based systems may be counterproductive or even dangerous. And they are less insulated from the law’s reach than it seems. The central question is not how to regulate blockchains but how blockchains regulate. They may supplement, complement, or substitute for legal enforcement. Excessive or premature application of rigid legal obligations will stymie innovation and forego opportunities to leverage technology to achieve public policy objectives. Blockchain developers and legal institutions can work together. Each must recognize the unique affordances of the other system. Activation-Induced Deaminase and Its Splice Variants Associate with Trisomy 12 in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

Its aberrant expression and activity have been detected in lymphomas, leukemias, and solid tumors. In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) increased expression of alternatively spliced AID variants has been documented. We used real-time RT-PCR to quantify the expression of AID and its alternatively spliced transcripts (AIDΔE4a, AIDΔE4, AIDivs3, and AIDΔE3E4) in 149 CLL patients and correlated this expression to prognostic markers including recurrent chromosomal aberrations, the presence of complex karyotype, mutation status of the immunoglob- ulin heavy chain variable gene, and recurrent mutations. We report a previously unappreciated association between higher AID transcript levels and trisomy of chromosome 12. Functional analysis of AID splice variants revealed loss of their activity with respect to SHM, CSR, and induction of double-strand DNA breaks. In silico modeling provided insight into the molecular interactions and structural dynamics of wild-type AID and a shortened AID variant closely resembling AIDΔE4, confirming its loss-of-function phenotype. -

THE MINERALOGICAL MAGAZINE AND JOURNAL OF THE MINERALOGICAL SOCIETY. 1~o. 40. OCTOBER 1889. Vol. VIII. On the Meteorites which have been found iu the Desert of Atacama and its neighbourhood. By L. FLETCHER, M.A., F.R.S., Keeper of Minerals in the British Museum. (With a Map of the District, Plate X.) [Read March 12th and May 7th, ]889.J 1. THE immediate object of the present paper is to place on record J- the history and characters of several Atacama meteorites of which no description has yet been published; but incidentally it is con- venient at the same time to consider the relationship of these masses to others from the same region, which either have been already described, or at least are stated to be preserved in one or more of the known Meteo. rite-Collections. 2. The term " Desert of Atacama " is generally applied to that part of western South America which lies between the towns of Copiapo and Cobija, about 330 miles distant from each other, and which extends island as far as the Indian hamlet of Antofagasta, about 180 miles from 224 L. FLETCHER ON THE METEORITES OF ATACAMA. the coast. The Atacama meteorites preserved in the Collections have been found at several places widely separated throughout the Desert. 3. A critical examination of the descriptive literature, and a compari- son of the manuscript and printed meteorite-lists, which have been placed at my service, lead to the conclusion that all the meteoritic frag- ments from Atacama now preserved in the known Collections belong to one or other of at most thirteen meteorites, which, for reasons given below, are referred to in this paper under the following names :-- 1.
