Welcome/Apologies (as above). Chair Betty Wright opened the meeting which followed directly after the AGM. Item 3. Minutes of last meeting. The minutes of the April meeting were approved as a true and accurate record, proposed: Silvia Muras; seconded: Marion Turner. Item 4. Matters arising. (1) Highland Council and Climate change. The CC has asked THC to declare a Climate Emergency. A motion on this subject was carried and a committee is being formed within THC. CC will monitor with interest. A local group, Planet Sutherland, has been set up aiming to spread awareness and action. At the April CC meeting Cllr Currie spoke about THC’s Waste Management plans. It was agreed that the Waste Management Officer should be invited to the next CC meeting. A list of specific questions will be sent to him with the invitation to the August meeting. BW Action. (2) Recycling point. The bins are back in place. (3) Development at Port of Cromarty Firth. No reply as yet from Joanne Sutherland. Fears remain regarding the increase in traffic to and from Ardchronie Quarry though it is understood some of the required stone will be brought in by sea.

Creich CC is arranging a memorial plaque in respect for the work done on this project and others by the late Sandy Chalmers. (b) Bank of Scotland, Bonar Bridge. The CC has already written to the Bank to register dismay at the proposed reduction of hours at the local branch. Any further comments should be emailed to MT who will compose another letter of complaint. All individuals, groups and businesses are encouraged to write to oppose the cuts in service. AL stated that the job of Treasurer for the CC, and all other groups, will be nigh on impossible to conduct without the provision of the local branch.

    Do more cycling EIGHT CYCLE ROUTES AROUND dornoch cYcLe routeS Around dornoch route 1 Loch Fleet Distance: 12.5 miles Grade: Easy Description: Route 1 takes you past the fishing village of Embo and to Loch Fleet, an internationally-renowned nature reserve where you can see a range of ducks, seals and wading birds. Directions: Travel out of Dornoch on Station Road towards Embo. Continue on this road for 3 miles. Turn left and ride along the shores of Loch Fleet for 2 miles until you reach the junction with the A9. Turn around and follow the same route back into Dornoch. An alternative off-road section is indicated on the map, following the disused railway line. Follow this route over a staggered junction into Skelbo Street, then past the forest walk entrance. Turn left onto the A9 for 0.5 mile then left onto the B9168 (Poles Road) for 2 miles. Turn left onto Castle Street and back into Dornoch town centre. (Alternative route avoiding most of the A9 – turn left at the staggered junction to come out at the Trentham Hotel and Poles Road).
