You are responsible for booking your own hotel, guest house, or self- catering accommodation and arranging payment of your accommodation fee only, direct with the accommodation establishment of your choice

This document aims to provide you with some general advice and guidance about booking your overnight accommodation for your attendance on the York Summer Workshops.

The 4-star The Hilton York Hotel (York Summer Workshops venue) is located in the city centre of York (about a 15 minute walk from York Railway Station), and not on the University of York campus (which is a 20-minute drive away from the workshops venue).

Pages 3-9 of this document list a selection of hotel, guest house and self-catering accommodation in York, in ‘walking distance’ order (using approximate minutes) from the York Summer Workshops’ venue (The Hilton York Hotel), and a map shows their respective locations on page 10. Each accommodation entry includes useful information including:  full contact details including web site  details about WiFi access  approximate room rates per night (please check actual rates with the hotels)  a link to its review on the TripAdvisor accommodation reviewing web site

Please note that the accommodation listed on pages 3-8 is not endorsed by us, and that there are lots of other accommodation options in York city centre that are not listed here, but which you can access by visiting the selection of accommodation web sites we have listed below on page 2.

Useful points to note when booking your hotel accommodation:  Please check the accommodation rates for your preferred hotel, as one of the hotel booking web sites listed on the next page may offer cheaper rates at the same hotel.  If you require WiFi access please ensure you double-check with your chosen hotel that they do supply it to bedrooms (and any prices they may charge) before booking.  Please always indicate if you require “EN-SUITE” accommodation, as some of the smaller or older establishments may have some bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities.

The University of York offers a limited number of low cost en-suite bed and breakfast accommodation at Franklin House and hostel accommodation in Halifax College on its campus.
