Soap Box Run Sunday evening 26th August and all day Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2018 Diversions to bus services

Bank Holiday Monday 27th August is the third annual Micklegate Run soap box event, in the heart of city centre. Micklegate, Bridge Street, Ouse Bridge and Low will all be closed for the event, with no access through these roads or Rougier Street or . Our buses will divert: -on the evening of Sunday 26th August during set up for the event. -all day on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August while the event takes place.

Diversions will be as follows. Delays are likely on all services (including those running normal route) due to increased traffic around the closed roads. Roads will close at 18:10 on Sunday 26th, any bus which will not make it through the closure in time will divert, this includes buses which will need to start the diversion prior to 18:10.

Route 1 Wigginton – Chapelfields – will be able to follow its normal route throughout. Route 2 Rawcliffe Bar Park & Ride – will be able to follow its normal route throughout. Route 3 Askham Bar Park & Ride – Sunday 26th August: will follow its normal route up to and including the 18:05 departure from Tower Street back to Askham Bar Park & Ride.

The additional Summer late night Shakespeare Theatre buses will then divert as follows: From Askham Bar Park & Ride, normal route to , then right onto Nunnery Lane (not serving the Rail Station into town), left Bishopgate Street, over Skeldergate Bridge to Tower Street as normal. From Tower Street bus stop, towards Askham Bar Park & Ride via , , , Loop, Skeldergate Bridge, Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane, Queen Street, Station Road, then turn around to resume normal route from the Rail Station bus stop. Delays will be caused by the length of this diversion.

Monday 27th August, all day: buses from the park and ride car park will terminate at the Railway Station. From the city centre back to the park and ride site, they will start at the Railway Station. We will not be able to serve the bus stops at Rougier Street, Micklegate or Tower Street all day – the Railway Station or Blossom Street will be the nearest alternative stops.

Route 4 Acomb – York – will be diverted on Sunday 26th August from 18:10 until the end of service, and then all day on Monday 27th August. Buses from Acomb will terminate at Station Road, stop CE. Buses will start from Station Road back towards Acomb. We will be unable to serve Rougier Street, Micklegate, Low Ousegate or Clifford Street bus stops while the roads are closed. Please use Station Road or Blossom Street stops instead to board this service.

Routes 5/5A Strensall – Acomb – will be able to follow their normal routes throughout. Route 6 Clifton Moor – University – will be diverted on Sunday 26th August from 18:10 until the end of service, and then all day on Monday 27th August. Buses towards Clifton Moor will run normal route to The Stonebow, then divert via Piccadilly, Fishergate loop, Skeldergate Bridge, Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane, Queen Street and past the Railway Station to resume normal route at Station Avenue. Services towards the University of York will run normal route across Bridge, and then instead of turning left onto Rougier Street, will go straight on to Station Road. They will then divert via the Railway Station, Queen Street, Nunnery Lane, Bishopgate Street, Skeldergate Bridge and Piccadilly, resuming normal route at The Stonebow. Buses will be unable to serve bus stops at Low Ousegate, Micklegate or Rougier Street during the closures. We will stop at all the bus stops on the diversion route to pick up and set down everyone instead. Please signal clearly to the driver if you wish to board at one of the alternative stops. Delays are expected due to the length of the diversion on this service.

Route 7 Designer Outlet Park & Ride – Sunday 26th August: buses will follow normal route, except the very last journey from the Designer Outlet to the city centre (18:20), which will terminate at Clifford Street and not serve the Rail Station. Bank Holiday Monday 27th August, all day: From the Designer Outlet, buses will run normal route to Fishergate. The bus stop on Fishergate will be the closest stop for Clifford Street and that side of the city centre. Buses will then divert from Fishergate via Skeldergate Bridge, Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane and Queen Street to the Railway Station, not serving Clifford Street or Rougier Street. Towards the Designer Outlet, buses will start at the Railway Station and then operate normal route.

Route 8 Grimston Bar Park & Ride – will be able to follow its normal route throughout. Route 9 Monks Cross Park & Ride – Sunday 26th August: buses will follow normal route. Bank Holiday Monday 27th August, all day: towards the city centre, buses will operate normal route to The Stonebow, then, after Coppergate, turn left and terminate on Clifford Street bus stop TG. Towards Monks Cross: buses will start from Clifford Street bus stop TG, and then run via Tower Street and Piccadilly, resuming normal route on The Stonebow. The bus stops at Rougier Street and Micklegate won’t be served, please use Clifford Street stop TG instead.

Route 10 Poppleton – Stamford Bridge – will be diverted on Sunday 26th August from 18:10 until the end of service, and then all day on Monday 27th August. Buses towards Poppleton will run from Piccadilly and then divert via , The Stonebow, , Jewbury, Lord Mayor’s Walk, , Theatre Royal and Lendal Bridge to Station Road, then continue as normal along Leeman Road. Buses towards Stamford Bridge will run from Leeman Road and serve the stop on Station Avenue (for Rougier Street). Buses will then divert via Lendal Bridge, Theatre Royal, Gillygate, Lord Mayor’s Walk, , Foss Bank, Peasholme Green, The Stonebow and Pavement to normal route at Piccadilly. While the roads are closed, bus stops at Rougier Street, Micklegate and Low Ousegate will be not be served. Buses will serve all stops on the diversion route – please use these stops as alternatives, and signal clearly to the driver if you wish to board at any of these stops. Please expect delays to service 10 due to the length of the diversion it has to take and the likely congestion on Lord Mayor’s Walk.

Routes 11 and 12/14 – these services will be unaffected as they will not be running on Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday. Please see details of Sunday and Bank Holiday service 500 for Bishopthorpe and Woodthorpe below. Route 59 Poppleton Bar Park & Ride – Sunday 26th August: will follow normal route. Bank Holiday Monday 27th August, all day: buses from Poppleton Bar Park & Ride will terminate at Station Road, and start from Station Road stop CD back to the Park & Ride car park. They will not be able to serve Rougier Street, Micklegate or Clifford Street while the roads are closed. Station Road or Blossom Street will be the closest alternative stops.

Route 66 York – University – will be diverted on Sunday 26th August from 18:10 until the end of service, and then all day on Monday 27th August. From the University, buses will run normal route to Fishergate. The bus stop on Fishergate will be the closest stop for Clifford Street and that side of the city centre. Buses will then divert from Fishergate via Skeldergate Bridge, Bishopgate Street, Nunnery Lane and Queen Street to the Railway Station, not serving Clifford Street, Low Ousegate or Rougier Street. Towards the University, buses will start at the Railway Station and then operate normal route.

Route 66A York – University – will be able to follow its normal route throughout. Route 500 Woodthorpe – York – Sunday 26th August: the bus will run to its normal route and times, until the very last (17:50) journey from Woodthorpe to the city centre. On Bank Holiday Monday 27th August, the service will divert all day. Buses towards the city centre will divert after South Bank via Scarcroft Road, Blossom Street, Queen Street and the Railway Station to terminate at Station Road. Buses towards Woodthorpe, buses will start at Station Road, then run as normal from the Railway Station. Clifford Street, Low Ousegate and Rougier Street will not be able to be served.
