BYARD ON TEAM’S BEST CAREER PACE IN 40 YEARS: Last week at Denver, Titans safety tallied his third interception of the season, which is tied for the NFL’s second-best total. Only New England safety Devin McCourty (four) has more through six weeks. The play also gave Byard 15 in his four-year career.

The former third-round pick reached his 15th interception in his 54th career game. No Titans/Oilers player has been on that pace since 1979, when safety reached his 15th interception in his 49th contest with the franchise.

Byard is the franchise’s eighth player—and its fifth safety—to post 15 interceptions in 54 or fewer games.

In addition to Byard, only five other active NFL players reached 15 interceptions in their first 54 games. Byard is the second safety, along with current safety Tashaun Gipson Sr., who took 53 games to accomplish the feat. The cornerbacks in the group are Baltimore’s (34), San Francisco’s Richard Sherman (38), the ’ Aqib Talib (40) and the ’ Trumaine Johnson (54).

KERN TIES NFL’S I-20 RECORD: Also last week at Denver, Titans recorded a total of nine punts for an average of 47.1 yards per . He placed eight of his punts inside the 20, which tied the NFL’s all-time single-game record.

The last time a player had eight punts inside the 20 in a game was Nov. 14, 1999, when Bryan Barker accomplished the feat for the against the . The original mark was set by Mark Royals of the on Nov. 6, 1994 at the Houston Oilers.

A player is credited with an inside-the-20 punt if the punt is returned and the return ends inside the 20, or the punt is not returned and the distance of the punt is measured to a point inside the 20 (and outside the end zone).

HENRY CAN JUMP TWO SPOTS, INTO TOP 10 ON FRANCHISE RUSHING LIST: Fourth-year running back enters this week’s contest against the Chargers with 614 career rushing attempts for 2,709 yards. With a minimum of 61 more rushing yards, he will leapfrog a pair of former players and vault into ninth place on the team’s all-time rushing list.

Henry’s 2,709 rushing yards currently rank 11th in franchise annals. He is 49 yards shy of passing former running back Chris Brown (2,757) for 10th place all-time for the club. Ninth on the list is Ronnie Coleman with 2,769 yards.

TITANS DEFENSE FORCING HIGH RATE OF THREE-AND-OUTS: Through six games this season, the Titans defense has been one of the NFL’s best units in forcing opposing offenses into three-and-out drives. In 75 total possessions by Titans opponents, 21 of them have ended with three-and-outs.

The Titans rank third in the NFL and second in the AFC in the category. Only the (36.7 percent) and (28.8) have fared better.
