Gelae californica sp. nov. from California, the U.S.A. is described, illustrated and compared to similar species. INTRODUCTION The phylogenetic and therefore also systematic position of the genus Gelae Miller et Wheeler, 2004, known to widely occur in the Northern and Central America, is rather unclear as the genus is similar to some species currently assigned to Anisotoma Panzer, 1797, to Palaearctic Agathidium Panzer, 1797 (subg. Neoceble Gozis, 1886), to some Nearctic Agathidium and also to the genus Liodopria Reitter, 1909. The genus Gelae can be differ from the other Agathidiini genera by the combination of the followig characters: 1. Antennae with 11 antennomeres; 2. antennal club 3-segmented; 3. supraocular carina absent or developed in traces anteriorly, never extending caudally behind eyes; 4. clypeus convex anteriorly; 5. clypeal line developed; 6. tempora not developed; 7. pronotum with distinct anterior and posterior angles in lateral view; 8. elytra without punctured rows or striae; 9. elytra with distinct lateral angle; 10. femoral lines on metaventrite not developed. Altogether eight species have been described or attributed to the genus up to now. The ninth species - Gelae californicum sp. nov. is described in this paper. We investigated the ‘performance’ of characters from external morphology and the other character systems and the effects of abundant missing entries by comparing the data decisiveness, retention and consistency indices of four different character partitions. The results indicate that the performances of the different partitions are not related to the proportions of missing entries, but instead are negatively correlated to their proportion of informative characters, suggesting that the morphological information in this group is subject to high levels of homoplasy. -

DORIA” Vol. 102 - 22 NOVEMBRE 2010 GENOVA 2010 1 FERNANDO ANGELINI * WORLD CATALOGUE OF THE TRIBE AGATHIDIINI (COLEOPTERA, LEIODIDAE, LEIODINAE) INTRODUCTION During the last 30 years, the tribe Agathidiini Westwood, 1838 has been the subject of many taxonomic studies and catalogues (by F. Angelini, J. Cooter, L. De Marzo, H. Hoshina, K. B. Miller, A. F. Newton, S. B. Peck, E. E. Perkovsky, M. Perreau, Z. Švec and Q. D. Wheeler) resulting in a moltiplication of the species number and in a better knowledge of the status and distribution of many taxa. New species have been mostly described from Indo-Malayan and Northern Neotropical Regions, less from Nearctics, Palearctics (especially Eastern Palearctics) and Afrotropics. Meanwhile, about 220 papers were published, of which over 110 including the description of more or less 760 new species and 7 new genera/subgenera, and 6 devoted to systematic revisions and geogra- phical catalogues (WHEELER 1979, ANGELINI 1995c and 2004, PER- REAU 2004, WHEELER & MILLER 2005, MILLER & WHEELER 2005b). Nowadays, in my opinion the knowledge of world Agathidiini is quite satisfactory. Furthermore, I presume that in future new spe- cies will be described mainly from Northern Neotropics, from some area of Indo-Malayan Region and from Easterner Palearctics, with a likely 10-15% increase to the present total number. Currently, I think that more studies are still necessary only for a better interpre- tation of Indo-Malayan and Eastern Palearctic species ascribed to the genus Anisotoma and Indo-Malayan species of the genera Cyr- toplastus and Stetholiodes. -

A la fecha, se han registrado un total de 704 especies descritas de Braconidae para el territorio mexicano pertenecientes a 318 géneros y 35 subfamilias.
