The Chinese Civil War (1927–37 and 1946–49)
13 CIVIL WAR CASE STUDY 2: THE CHINESE CIVIL WAR (1927–37 AND 1946–49) As you read this chapter you need to focus on the following essay questions: • Analyze the causes of the Chinese Civil War. • To what extent was the communist victory in China due to the use of guerrilla warfare? • In what ways was the Chinese Civil War a revolutionary war? For the first half of the 20th century, China faced political chaos. Following a revolution in 1911, which overthrew the Manchu dynasty, the new Republic failed to take hold and China continued to be exploited by foreign powers, lacking any strong central government. The Chinese Civil War was an attempt by two ideologically opposed forces – the nationalists and the communists – to see who would ultimately be able to restore order and regain central control over China. The struggle between these two forces, which officially started in 1927, was interrupted by the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese war in 1937, but started again in 1946 once the war with Japan was over. The results of this war were to have a major effect not just on China itself, but also on the international stage. Mao Zedong, the communist Timeline of events – 1911–27 victor of the Chinese Civil War. 1911 Double Tenth Revolution and establishment of the Chinese Republic 1912 Dr Sun Yixian becomes Provisional President of the Republic. Guomindang (GMD) formed and wins majority in parliament. Sun resigns and Yuan Shikai declared provisional president 1915 Japan’s Twenty-One Demands. However, the mechanisms of anti-inflammatory of baicalin in ulcerative colitis is not clear. Methods: Mice colitis models were established by dextran sodium sulfate, Mice administrated with baicalin (100 mg/kg) and mesalazine (100 mg/kg) twice daily by intragastric injection for 7 days after colitis induced were defined as treated group. Then the mice were sacrificed and the colon samples were collected. Toll-like receptor-2, 4, 9 were detected by immunohistochemistry. Signaling proteins such as TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB p65 were analyzed by western blotting. Cytokine’s mRNA include TNF-α, IL-6 IL-10 and IL-13 were measured by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. -

International Forum on Management, Education and Information Technology Application (IFMEITA 2016) Traffic Simulation of Hongqi Elevated Road in Yantai Feng Zhua, Chengxuan Caob State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing 100044, China. a15125815@ bjtu.edu.cn, [email protected] Keywords: Traffic simulation, Hongqi Elevated Road, VISSIM. Abstract. With the increasing number of vehicles in Yantai, the downtown traffic volume is increasing. Hongqi Road, the main road in Yantai exists the traffic congestion problems. Yantai Planning Bureau proposed to construct for viaduct this road. This design is mainly based on the planning and design of the elevated road in Yantai Hongqi Road (Hongqi Road intersection-Shanhai Road intersection). We used the VISSIM micro simulation system to carry out the simulation of the elevated road in Hongqi Road, and the stops and queue length are the evaluation indices for quantitative evaluation. Then through the evaluation indices and specific data obtained by simulation, we analyze the selection of the scheme and draw the final plan of the construction of the elevated road, which was provide a good reference for the planning and construction of Hongqi elevated road. Introduction The emergence of the viaduct is a very important detail in the course of the evolution of the city. It reflects the city's increasingly crowded trends and the city's displacement in space form (from a horizontal plane to a vertical section) [1]. After Hongqi elevated road built, this east-west freeway will remain basically smooth all the way, this will further widen the urban framework, improve the speed of vehicle driving and the traffic capacity of Hongqi road, guarantee the none-congestion of the backbone, increase the efficiency of the green time and reduce the traffic delay. -

Case of Langfang, Hebei Province, China
AN OVERVIEW OF APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF REMOTE SENSING IN COUNTRY-SCALE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: CASE OF LANGFANG, HEBEI PROVINCE, CHINA Guohong Li1,2, Yongtao Jin1,2, Qichao Zhao1,2, Longfang Duan1,2, Yancang Wang1,2 1North China Institute of Aerospace Engineering, No.133 Aimin Road, Guangyang District, Langfang, Hebei, China Email:[email protected] 2Collaborative Innovation Center of Aerospace Remote Sensing Information Processing and Application of Hebei Province, No.133 Aimin Road, Guangyang District, Langfang, Hebei, China Email:[email protected] KEY WORDS: GF series satellites, agriculture, forestry, industrialization model. ABSTRACT: In pace of the launch of the Chinese “GF series satellites”, China is able to receive superb high- resolution remotely sensed images with high spatial, temporal, and spectral resolution. The GF series satellites data have been playing an important role in various fields related to regional economic development, such as agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring, Urban/Rural Planning and so on. However, the applications of remote sensing at the country’s scale are still at the early-stage and difficult to popularize, due to some reasons involved data resources, technical matters, and the user’s cognition to remote sensing. In order to better serve the local economy and society using remote sensing technology, Collaborative Innovation Center of Aerospace Remote Sensing Information Processing and Application of Hebei Province (hereinafter referred to as the Center) has pioneered in applying space remote sensing technology to county-scale economic development in Langfang city, Hebei province, China since 2014. In the recent years, the Center has initially established a country-scale remote sensing service framework, developed a number of remote sensing thematic products providing information service for the Country Level Government, and applied the scientific researches to 11 countries.
