Task background: This is a follow-up to an earlier CDMP task that imaged and digitized WMO- No. 47 editions and supplements for 1955-72, which were previously available only in paper form. Starting with the 1973 edition, the ship metadata contained in the publication were made available digitally by WMO, but not images of the printed material-which this task accomplishes A through 1998 (Table 1). The List is preceded by two summary tables showing the participation of various countries in the Wt40 Voluntary Observing Ship Scheme (table on page 11) and providing some statistical data (table on page 111) on upper-air observation equipment, telecommunication facilities and number of radio operators on board. For ease of consultation, an alphabetical index of ships' names has been added at the end of the List. The alphabetical index gives the country heading and the type of ship etation (selected, supplementary or auxiliary) under which a given ship appears in the International List. Full use has been made of electronic data-processing techniques in preparing the International List, the alphabetical index and the summary tables. INTRODUCTION Cette edition de la "Liste internationale de navires sblectionnes, supplementaires et auxiliaires" contient les renseignements, valables au ler janvier 1983 fournis par les pays Bnurneres dans le tableau A la page 11, conformement aux rbgles 2.3.8.1.5 et 2.3.13.1.6 qui figurent dans la partie 111 du Volume I du Manuel du systkme mondial d'observation. It could be shown that after 1730, trade levels began to expand significantly, probably matching or surpassing all growth rates realized during previous decades, if not centuries. Scotland underwent her own "commercial revolution", yet on terms decidedly different from England. Overseas trade levels tripled between 1700 and 1760. But trade levels remained small, both in comparison to England, as well as in relation to Scotland's national income. Trade was furthermore biased towards the importation and re-exportation of colonial foodstuffs, particularly tobacco. This peculiar Scottish trading pattern was conditioned by the structure of the domestic economy and the inclusion of Scottish ports and merchants into the English commercial empire (Navigation Acts). On the one hand, the Scottish manufacturing base was weak. The domestic economy neither exported particularly large amounts and shares of her production, nor was it heavily reliant upon imports from overseas.Accordingly, average imports of tobacco, sugar and rum from the Americas far outpacedyearly averagedomestic exports of linen, woollen, leather and other manufactures to that region.

Abstract The evolutionary history and taxonomy of worm-like snakes (scolecophidians) continues to be refined as new molec- ular data are gathered and analyzed. Here we present additional evidence on the phylogeny of these snakes, from morphological data and 489 new DNA sequences, and propose a new taxonomic framework for the family Typhlopi- dae. Of 257 named species of typhlopid snakes, 92 are now placed in molecular phylogenies along with 60 addition- al species yet to be described. Afrotyphlopinae subfam. nov. is distributed almost exclusively in sub-Saharan Africa and contains three genera: Afrotyphlops, Letheobia, and Rhinotyphlops. Asiatyphlopinae subfam. nov. is distributed in Asia, Australasia, and islands of the western and southern Pacific, and includes ten genera:Acutotyphlops, Anilios, Asiatyphlops gen.

Owners gain an ultimate profit from dismantlement. Most of the offshore platforms sent to be demolished since the beginning of the year are semi-submersible rigs. This type of rig weighs 10 to 15,000 t, i.e. a gain for the last owners of 2-4 million $ on the current purchase price from shipbreaking yards.
