YugBuild is the largest building exhibition in Southern Russia. YugBuild 2016 brought together 354 companies from 8 countries: Belarus, Germany, Spain, Italy, the UAE, Turkey, Finland and Russia. The exhibition was attended by 12,808 people. The exhibition space covered around 30,000 sqm (gross). EXHIBITION SECTORS 2016: . Building materials . Façades and roofing . Finishing materials . Building equipment, hardware and tools . Sanitary ware . Engineering equipment . Door and locks . Equipment and materials for landscaping . Flooring . International Days of Architecture festival . Lighting and electrics “To us, it is very important that in such a difficult economic period, YugBuild has brought together around 400 companies from 8 different countries in a new exhibition centre. It indicates that Southern Russia is experiencing huge popularity among industry professionals not only from the Krasnodar region but across our country. I hope that exhibiting companies find a great many partners and clients, and that participants of the business programme – round tables and discussion platforms – find solutions and offers that could enable working with the Administration of the Krasnodar region and municipalities to achieve high performance in the economy and the building and architecture industry.” Yuri Nikolaevich Gritsenko www.yugbuild.com 1-4 March 2016 POST SHOW REPORT MAIN EVENTS Architectural and town building conference: Aspects of architectural planning in historical city centres On 1 March, the architectural and town building conference Aspects of architectural planning in historical city centres brought together more than 140 industry professionals. Honoured guests and speakers included Yuri Rysin, Chief Architect of the Krasnodar Region; Igor Mazurok, Chief Architect of Krasnodar City; Vladimir Malyuk, Chair of the Board of the Krasnodar Regional Organisation of the Union of Architects of Russia; Yuri Vissarionov, Professor at МААМ; Yuri Vissarionov, Head of the creative workshop PTAM Vissarionov; Ilya Zalivukhin, Head of architectural and town planning company Yauzaproyekt; and Alexey Goryainov, Head of Arch Group. Leading architects and planners from Crimea also took part in the discussions. The conference participants discussed aspects of planning town building programmes taking into account heritage sites and historical city centres. A lot of time was given to developing the current master plan for Krasnodar, which should be approved in July 2016. Yuri Rysin, Chief Architect of the Krasnodar Region, proposed to include Ilya Zalivukhin in the working group to develop the master plan, as well as to focus on organising conferences on anti-crisis measures in architecture and town planning. Discussion panel: Complex urban development: how to find a balance between the interests of real-estate developers and residents On 1 March, issues of uniting the efforts of Krasnodar’s developers were addressed at the discussion panel Complex urban development: how to find a balance between the interests of real-estate developers and residents. At the event, the authorities from Krasnodar City and the Krasnodar region reported that all new development projects in the region should, from now on, be based on integrated reclamation of land. Such an approach requires contractors to fully landscape the area and build social infrastructure. According to Vice Governor Yuri Gritsenko, the pace of construction has been outpacing the city budget for decades. By coming together to create joint infrastructure and planning projects, developers will lose less land and can contribute to the high-quality development of the city. www.yugbuild.com 1-4 March 2016 POST SHOW REPORT International town planning conference: Architectural heritage: the past and the present The topic of preserving architectural heritage sites continued on 2 March at the international town planning conference Architectural heritage: the past and the present, organised by the Deparment of Architecture and Town Building of the Krasnodar Region, KNAUF and KrasnodarEXPO. Participants looked into issues of preserving historical architectural objects as part of modern town building, architectural and planning principles in conservation, developing historical and cultural conservation, as well as sharing international experience in using modern building materials in architecture and town planning. The Governor’s visit On 2 March, Veniamin Kondratyev, the Governor of the Krasnodar Region, attended YugBuild. The Head of the Region looked round the exhibition and spoke to manufacturers and suppliers of building equipment and materials, and met leading architects from the region. The meeting was attended by Vice Governor Yuri Gritsenko; Yuri Rysin, Director of the Department of Architecture and Town Building of the Krasnodar Region; and Viktor Churilov, Vice President, Russian Architects Union. The Governor confirmed that architects’ main challenge is bringing a stop to poorly considered designs and creating eye-catching structures and original landscaping solutions to please both residents and tourists. The most important thing, according to Veniamin Kondratyev, is to work on preserving historic and architectural monuments in the region’s towns and villages, and to introduce the principle of quarterly reconstruction and quality control in landscaping. www.yugbuild.com 1-4 March 2016 POST SHOW REPORT Announcing the results of the open architectural competition 2014- 2016 as part of the international Days of Architecture festival On 3 March, the results of the open architectural competition for the best architectural structure from 2014-2016 were announced as part of the international Days of Architecture festival. Summer 2017 Regional Development With AEB updates on: #investment climate in Russia, #localisation in the Russian regions, #discovering Krasnodar Region, #St. Petersburg investment legislation, #AEB news, #Committee activities, #member news, and #new members. | Introduction AEB Business Quarterly | Summer 2017 Dear readers, Welcome to the summer issue of the AEB Business Quarterly! The Association of European Businesses represents the interests of foreign investors in Russia and sup- ports foreign companies operating on the Russian market. Far more than 50% of foreign direct invest- ments originate from the European Union, so the country’s investment attractiveness is of vital impor- tance for the AEB. The AEB is focused on engaging with the Russian regions. We have two Regional Committees: the North-Western and the Southern ones with the offices in Saint Petersburg and Krasnodar correspondingly. They actively cooperate with the regional and local authorities and take part in the work of the investment councils of the governments of the Krasnodar and Leningrad regions, and the city of St. Petersburg. On 1 June 2017, the AEB signed an Agreement on Cooperation with Leningrad region within the framework of the St.Petersburg International Forum. The AEB regularly holds presentations of the investment potential of the regions in Moscow. Thus, recently we have hosted several events on the investment potential of the Altai and Sakhalin regions, the North Caucasus and the Chuvash Republic. The Association regularly organises business missions to the Russian regions and meetings with the regional governors, enabling companies to get acquainted with the investment opportunities of the given region as well as the terms of co- operation and development.

  • Russian Academy 2006.Pdf (5.402Mb)
The Russian Academy of Sciences, 2006 Update With an historical introduction by the President of the Academy Iuri S. Osipov From Yu.S. Osipov's book «Academy of Sciences in the History of the Russian State» Moscow, «NAUKA», 1999 The creation of the Academy of Sciences is directly connected with Peter the Great’s reformer activities aimed at strengthening the state, its economic and political independence. Peter the Great understood the importance of scientific thought, education and culture for the prosperity of the country. And he started acting “from above”. Under his project, the Academy was substantially different from all related foreign organizations. It was a state institution; while on a payroll, its members had to provide for the scientific and technical services of thee state. The Academy combined the functions of scientific research and training, having its own university and a high school. On December 27, 1725, the Academy celebrated its creation with a large public meeting. This was a solemn act of appearance of a new attribute of Russian state life. Academic Conference has become a body of collective discussion and estimation of research results. The scientists were not tied up by any dominating dogma, were free in their scientific research, and took an active part in the scientific opposition between the Cartesians and Newtonians. Possibilities to publish scientific works were practically unlimited. Physician Lavrentii Blumentrost was appointed first President of the Academy. Taking care of bringing the Academy’s activities to the world level, Peter the Great invited leading foreign scientists. Among the first were mathematicians Nikolas and Daniil Bornoulli, Christian Goldbach, physicist Georg Bulfinger, astronomer and geographer J.Delille, historian G.F.Miller.

Corruption, No Confidence, Poor Communication HOW GOVERNORS BEHAVING BADLY WILL IMPACT RUSSIA’S REGIONAL ELECTIONS PONARS Eurasia Policy Memo No. 664 July 2020 Emily Ferris1 Royal United Services Institute Russia’s regional administrations tend to be overlooked as a toothless part of the system, lacking any real responsibility or power. While Moscow has certainly curbed governors’ autonomy under President Vladimir Putin’s rule, several important events over the past few months, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and amendments to the constitution, have brought the importance of regional governors back to the fore. The recent detention of Sergei Furgal, governor of the Far Eastern region of Khabarovsk, on murder charges— immediately after his region failed to ensure desired support for the constitutional amendment—has also refocused public attention onto governors’ performances. The way in which these regional governors choose to counter the virus, as well as ensuring voter turnout for the constitutional vote, will likely provide an opportunity for governors flagging in the polls to improve their performance ratings. But governors responsible for political scandals, who struggle to stimulate the local economy, and fail to take responsibility for their own actions, might find themselves in trouble in the coming months. This memo unpacks some of the more recent governor scandals in further-flung regions such as the Arctic and Far East, to determine what this might mean for regional stability ahead of the imminent regional elections in September 2020, as well as the State Duma elections scheduled for 2021. Some governors might be able to redeem previously poor performances by guaranteeing strong public support for Putin during election processes, while those with strong track records may be dismissed if they are unable to do so.
