DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL Hyderabad DIPSCOOP July, 2018 Vol. IX Issue 2 With the FIFA World Cup fever in the air, DIPSCOOP brings for you another month of achievements and awards galore. In the words of the football legend, Pele, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, sacrifice and most of all love of what you are doing or learning to do.” Let us have a glimpse of the DPS success stories for this month. X and XII Board Results The CBSE Board result for the year 2018-19 is yet another feather in the cap for DPS, Hyderabad. This year, too, the students have surpassed the expectations of the teachers and parents and outshone the previous years’ performances. School Toppers of Class X DIPSCOOP an e-magazine 1 School Toppers of Class XII DPS - A New Look Making the most of the summer vacation, DPS donned on a new look to welcome the students for the new session. Students as well as teachers were pleasantly surprised at the pristine floors, glossy walls and shiny furniture. Grade XI and XII received the much awaited air-conditioned classrooms to beat the summer heat and facilitate comfortable teaching learning. DIPSCOOP an e-magazine 2 Telangana Formation Day The Telangana Formation Day was marked by a splendid assembly presented by students of V on the 1st & 2nd of June 2018. The occasion was graced by the Principal and the Headmistresses. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag. Students then put up a very informative show where the audience was made aware of the various state symbols of Telangana. Students were fascinating to learn about the reason behind the state being named Telangana. Students from the middle school spoke about the history of Telangana. The long struggle for a separate state was the focal point. The inspiring narrative ended on an expectant note with a call for Bangaru Telangana. The colourful presentation concluded on a melodious note with an earthy folk song that had everyone’s foot tapping to the tune. The Celebrations did not end there. Various activities were conducted across the grades based on the culture of Telangana. These included the folk dances, the food, music, art and literature. What truly brought out the talent of the students and teachers alike was the poem recitation competition for which the ingenious canorous poems were composed by DPS students and teachers. The majestic Buddha statue I walked through the gusty streets of Hyderabad amidst the heart of the heart warming lake to smile over the Nawabs’ old, beautiful city to let its magnificence catch you At its heart, the high-tech buildings made me both happy and sad, Along the wondrous lake But its adaab still remained intact with integrity The road twists and turns with grafitti filled walls and smiling vendors I saw people sharing a warm embrace A glee in your heart slowly burns Bonding in an old tea shop over a cup of Iranian tea When the skies turn dark The essence of brotherhood spread a smile on There lights up the pious buddha statue my face his all knowing smile and half closed eyes Along with the aroma of biryani making me observes the dazzling streets, it can never get used to dangerously hungry There you can hear those muffled giggles Shopping from the streets of Charminaar, there you can see children running and playing To the markets of Laad Bazaar, there you can see those quaint conversations Sightseeing from the Chowmalla Palace, in all the footpaths and the parks around the lake, To the Golconda fort that remains artless winding. Gazing at ever-famous pearl market And when the air fill up with the smell of Hyderabadi while the Birla planetarium showed the planets, biryani and the people converse over the enlivening The Musical Clock at Salar Jung Museum strikes Irani tea twelve, And our cicerone has another story to tell Thats when you slowly realize, how beautiful it is to be a hyderbadi This is the city with a story to tell and how much more you have got to see. The longest day of the Northern hemisphere is celebrated as International Day of Yoga. This year the theme for the day was “ Yoga for peace”. Justifying the theme, the students of DPS, Hyderabad observed the day by conducting an assembly in which they shared the origin, types and benefits of yoga. They practiced meditation, asanaas and pranayam under the aegis of their teachers. The physical education teachers mentioned the benefit of each aasana and spread the message that with daily practice of yoga and meditation each one of us can become a positive, happy individual. Students realised that yoga is the key for a flexible body and calm mind. DIPSCOOP an e-magazine 8 Environment Day Connecting with nature means to connect with ourselves. If we do so, we nurture a better planet. - PM, Sri Narendra Modi On account of World Environment Day, celebrated on 5th June, every year, the students of class III observed a PAPERLESS & NO PLASTIC Day while the students of class IV observed a Don’t be Mean, Go Green Day. It was just another school day, but with a difference. The students did not carry any books to school. Parents were also requested to send metallic water bottle and lunch / pencil boxes in cloth or jute bags.
