Emma Mae Abbot Emma Mae Abbott, 83, died in Oct. 16, 2008. She lived in Prineville and was a resident of central Oregon since 1965. Memorial services will be private (family and close friends) at a later date.

The daughter of Alphonse and Agnes Bernard, she was born on July 12, 1925 in a little log cabin two miles east of Mackay, Idaho. She spent her childhood on the family ranch. She graduated from Mackay High School and immediately left Mackay to help in the war effort at Spokane Air Depot as a mechanic repairing B-24 airplanes as they returned from the war zone.

After WWII ended, she worked for private industries as a bookkeeper. She also worked in metals for Wah- Chang Corp., who at that time was building the inner fire walls of our missiles. She worked 12 years from the USDA Forest Service before retiring at the age of 65.

She enjoyed the outdorrs, especially the mountains, gardening, cooking and traveling. In addition to her three children, Linda Mae Bowen, Robert F. Barter and Paul A. Abbott, survivors include one sister, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Ronald Ahlberg July 21, 1955 ~ January 20, 2014 Ronald "Ronnybear" Ahlberg died from complications of muscular dystrophy on Jan. 20 at his home in The Dalles, Ore.

Ron was born in Straubing, Germany, on July 21, 1955, and immigrated to the United States in 1959 with his mother, Isolde (Rachny), and father, Albert Ahlberg. The family settled in Prineville, Ore. where Ron attended school and graduated from Crook County High School in 1973. Ron also attended Mt. Hood Community College and became the first in his family to receive a college diploma. He eventually settled in The Dalles, Ore., where he served his community as a member of the City Council, the School Board, and the Planning Commission.

Diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a child, Ron always pushed the limits of his body; he liked cars and motorcycles, he traveled throughout the United States, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and he even received an award for scuba diving. A musician in school band (saxophone), Ron developed a lifelong love for music, leading him to become a DJ and radio broadcaster for Central Oregon's KRCO while still in high school. In college he refined his broadcasting talent and also learned the art of multi-media communications. He was ultimately hired by his alma mater as a communications technician and he also did freelance work in broadcasting and media.

Following his retirement from full-time employment, Ron's skill in technology and communications found a new home with the Muscular Dystrophy Association as he divested himself of his time and talents each year to brighten the lives of hundreds of campers and their families at the MDA summer camps. Ron the techie would transform into "Ronnybear" the camp comedian and compassionate friend.

A caring husband, father, and friend, Ron is survived by his wife, Jill Knight-Ahlberg; his children, Mara R. Ahlberg, and Ezekiel T. Ahlberg; and his step-children, Amy Knight and Christopher Knight. He is also survived by his father, Albert & Clara Ahlberg, sister, Debbie (Lee) Ahlberg-Ziegler; brother, Tom (Jenice) Ahlberg; step-brother, Jerry (Justine) Hill; Step-sisters, Sherrie (Ron) Rhoden, and Sheila Small; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isolde (Rachny) Ahlberg. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There will be a viewing on Friday, Jan. 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave, The Dalles, Ore. Plans for a celebration of life service at Bethany Lutheran to be announced in the coming week.

A Graveside service and interment will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, at Juniper Haven Cemetery, 1555 N Main St, Prineville, Ore. A reception will follow at New Life Bible Chapel, 510 W. 4th Street.

Amos Harvey Adcock Amos Harvey Adcock who was a millwright most of his working life died Tuesday at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. He was 77.

He will be buried at Juniper Haven Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Leon Arrant of the First Church of God, of which Mr. Adcock was a member, will officiate. Mr. Adcock first came to Prineville in 1973 and lived here for five years until moving to Modesto, Calif. He returned to Prineville a year ago.

Earlier, he had lived in Chico, Calif, for some 26 years. He was a millwright for many years, but last worked as a Pinkerton guard for Pine Products Inc. in Prineville.

Mr. Adcock's hobbies included hunting fishing and woodworking. He was born March 31, 1907, in Prague, Okla. to Amos Harvey and Laura Helen (Hurley) Adcock. He spent his childhood in Oklahoma and Kansas, where he attended schools.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters and four sons; Rachel Fisher, Prineville; Gladys Albertson, Birmingham, Ala; Clara Hill, Prineville; Don C. Dickey, Hughson Calif; Harold Adcock, Fresno, Calif.; Leon Dickey, Trafford, Ala.; and Jess Adcock of Georgia. There are 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, six great-great- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

His parents, a brother, a sister and a son preceded him in death. The family suggested memorials as contributions to the Oregon Heart Association. 1500 SW 12th Ave., Portland 97201.

Friends may call at the Prineville Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Aden E. Appel from Thursday, August 17, 2000 Central Oregonian Alden "Al" E. Appel passed away at his home on Saturday, August 12. He was age 66. Mr. Appel was born on May 29, 1934, in Volga South Dakota, the son of Jack and Alma (Olson) Appel.

At the age of 17 he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the military he moved to Oregon City. He resided there untill moving to Alaska in the mid 1950s where he worked for the Railroad.

In the early 1960s he returned to Oregon and lived in several cities. He married Mabel Hubbard in 1964 in Portland. The couple resided on Sauvies Island in the early 1970s. He worked for Widing transportation untill his health forced him to retire. In 1981 he and his wife moved to Prineville.

Survivors include his daughters, Jean Anderson of Prineville, Penny Dunham of Oxford, Calif. and Jo Hurst of Prineville: his sons John Hamilton of Prineville, Robert L. Hamilton of Prineville, and Mile Hamilton of Prineville: his brother Bill Appel of St. Helens: His sisters Laourane Lawrence of Oregon City and Dee Connelly of Homer, Alaska: 16 grandchildren, and 6 great- grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993 and his sister, Joy Gibbs, in January of 2000. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the pioneer memorial Hospital Hospice , 1201 N. Elm, Prineville Oregon. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 18 at 7:00 PM at his residence, 12345 S. Davis Loop, Prineville. It will be officiated by reverend Roger Landers and Mike Hamilton. A time of Sharing will begin at 6:00 PM. at his home and will continue following the memorial service. Internment will be private.

Born to Bernard and Josie Atwood in Scofield in a logging camp in the foothills of the Oregon coast range, Vernon Atwood grew up in Washington County, moving to Walla Walla, Wash., for high school. After graduating, he joined the Air Force, eventually becoming a jet pilot flying the F-86 Sabrejet on the East German border.

He married Joanne Lawrence, from Walla Walla, Wash., and had two children, Marcelyn and Kent, who were born while Vern attended Washington State College in Pullman. He graduated in 1960.

Vern was hired by the First National Bank of Oregon and served as an agricultural field representative and a loan officer for Crook, Jefferson, Wheeler and Deschutes counties, assessing farm values. After a year as the executive secretary of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association in Prineville, he moved to Washington County. A lover of animals, Vern served in the Oregon State University Extension Service as a 4-H Extension agent for more than nine years. He took a sabbatical, completing a master's degree at Oregon State in 1974.

His love of flying didn't go unanswered. He joined the Air Force Reserves in Portland, flying the F-4 Phantom. Upon moving to Salem and leaving the Extension Service, he became a full-time technician with the Oregon Army National Guard Aviation, earning his helicopter wings and commanding the 1042D Aerial Surveillance Squadron. After his divorce, he moved to Prineville and completed a total of 22 years of military service, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Vern met and married Marilyn Hanson after returning to the place he always called home, Prineville. Marilyn and Vern were owners of Atwood & Atwood Real Estate before he accepted a position as a corporate jet co- pilot and property manager for Les Schwab Tires. Vern located and purchased new store sites throughout the western United States.

After officially retiring in 1993, he and Marilyn enjoyed winters in Arizona, watching OSU Beavers football, gardening, golfing and traveling around the Pacific Northwest.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; stepdaughter, Lisa Jackson, of Wenatchee, Wash.; stepson, Philip Hanson, of Boise, Idaho; son, Kent B. Atwood, of Clancy, Mont.; daughter, Marcelyn Atwood, of Alexandria, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held in late April 2017 in Prineville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the Ochocos or a charity of your choosing.

Filomeno (Phil) Baca Filomeno (Phil) Baca was born March 2, 1928 and entered into heaven with his entire family at his side November 5, 2008. Filomeno was born and raised in McNary, Arizona. He was a Korean Conflict Army veteran and after his honorable discharge worked in the lumber industry until his retirement. Filo and his family moved to Prineville, Oregon in 1973 where they raised their eight children. He loved snowmobiling in The Ochoco Mountains, dancing and spending time with his growing family. He was Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prineville before moving to Redmond in 2000. Filo was also a member of the American Legion.

Filo was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Beatrice, nine siblings and his oldest son, Isidro. He is survived by one brother Robert, his wife of 57 years Inez, his children Anita, Philip, Dodie, Michael, Laurence, David and Evelyn, 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Rosary vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday November 7, 2008 followed by funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 8, 2008 at St. Thomas Catholic Parish 1720 NW 19th Street, Redmond, Oregon. Frances Joyce Stearns Barney passed away Feb. 4, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce's family was her proudest accomplishment. She delighted in her four children, nine grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren. Joyce was born on April 18, 1924, in Prineville, Oregon to Harry & Crystal Stearns. Joyce's family operated a cattle ranch on the Upper Crooked River which was homesteaded by her grandparents, Sidney and Frances Stearns. She grew up on the ranch with her parents, sisters Shirley and Ann, two grandmothers, a number of uncles, twin aunts and cousins.

She attended Crook County High School, graduating in the Class of 1942. She also attended Oregon State College (now OSU) and because of her lifelong love of learning, at the age of 70, she went back to college and attended University of Oregon. Early in her life Joyce was raising four children on her own and worked various jobs to provide for her family.

She worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses, at a bank, Oregon Stationary and the Bureau of Land Management. Wen her father died, Joyce was tasked with overseeing the ranch, becoming broker at Timberline Taylor Real Estate in Bend and continuing to manage the family partnership until her late 80s. She enjoyed traveling the world. She was bitten by the travel bug after her first trip visiting her son, Steve, in Japan. She continued traveling both alone and with her sister Ann, who was a travel agent. She kept a world map on the wall in her house and put pins in all the places she visited, over 161 places both domestic and international. Often when her children had not known about her next adventure she would jokingly say "Oh didn't I tell you?" She loved to take classes to learn about world cultures by staying at Elderhostels, tents in the desert and with local families in whatever country she was visiting.

Joyce was an enthusiastic cross-country skier, she enjoyed downhill skiing, bicycling, hiking, bridge, church choir, opera, theater, symphonies, jazz festivals, sewing, pottery, painting, especially watercolors. She was physically active and worked out at her daughter Sharon's athletic club until after her 95th birthday. Her longtime family friend, Ethel Conway said of Joyce "she started out in the morning bursting with energy, she ran and skipped through the day until put to bed at night." She is survived by her four children, Steve and (Bonnie) Barney, Robyn Craig, Brian and (Laura) Barney, Sharon and (Jim) McPhetridge, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, her sister Ann Ramseyer- Kapelke, nieces, nephews and cousins who all feel blessed to have her as our Mother, Gram, GiGi and Auntie.

Our love, hopes and thoughts are with all those who had the good fortune of interacting with such a dynamic driving force within our family, community and the inspiration and grace she instilled within all those she touched. Truly a pioneer within the industry she chose and the family she loved. A Celebration of Life will be held Feb. 15, 2020 at Eastside Church, 3174 NE 3rd St., Prineville, at 2 o'clock p.m. followed by dessert and a time of fellowship. Bannon From Tuesday, September 5, 2000 Central Oregonian Agnes M. Bannon (UMHAUR) of Prineville, died on Sept. 1, 2000 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. She was 69 years old.

In 1949 she met and married Lawrence Bannon. After marrying, the couple continued to make their home in Prineville.

Mrs. Bannon worked a a meat wrapper for Scotty's Thriftway (currently Ochoco Thriftway) untill her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, toll painting, and dancing. She was an active member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary in Prineville where she was a trustee for the last three years. She was a nominated Mother of the Year in 1997 by the eagles Lodge. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Redmond, a member of the National Bowling Assoc., and an active League bowler at the Crooked River Lanes. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prineville.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of Prineville; sons, Tim Bannon of Prineville, Lance Bannon of Adams; daughters, Cindy Hart of Pendelton, Debbie Koroush of Corvallis; brother, John Umhaur of Bend; sisters Dorothy Hovde of Baudette, Minn., Charlotte Birkedahl of Tacoma, Wash., and six grandchildren A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prineville on Sept . 6 at 10 am. with a private internment following at Deschutes Memorial Gardens at a later date. Elizabeth Bellingham Elizabeth (Brace) Bellingham, 42, passed away October 18th, 2008 after losing her battle with breast cancer. An informal celebration of life will be held in Bend, Sunday November 2nd, 2008, at 12 PM, at Aspen Hall in Shevlin Park.

Liz was born in Newport, OR on April 6th 1966 to Ralph Brace and Barbara Jaamptghard. She was raised in Prineville where she graduated from Crook County High School in 1984, then moved to Portland where she lived for 20 years, before returning to Prineville in 2004.

After her return to central Oregon she began working for the company XL Management as the Accounts Receivable Manager. While working there she organized a "Cancer Sucks" team which participated in the Heaven Can Wait walk. She also organized the Chicks Against Cancer poker ride, displaying her love for horses and empathy for cancer patients and survivors.

She loved horseback riding and the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and photography. Liz was an immensely positive person who was overflowing with a passion for life. Liz will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. We look forward to seeing her in heaven, greeting us with her kindness and warm heart. We all love and will miss Liz tremendously.

She is survived by her boyfriend Shawn Anastasio, daughter Savanna Smith, son-in-law Jason Smith, one grandchild Ransom Smith, stepsister Jane Schaefer and many friends and family. Liz is preceded in death by her mother Barbara Jaamptghard and father Ralph Brace. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Redmond Humane Society.

Jeannette Bernhoft Central Oregonian unknown paper 2014 Jeannette Lynn Bernhoft a Sitka resident passed away October 2nd in Anchorage Alaska, due to a long term illness at the age of 48.

She was born May 3rd 1965 in Condon, Oregon. She was the daughter of Dan and Sharon Bell. She graduated from Crook County High School in 1983. In 1984 she married Sherman Locker. They resided in several locations until they moved to Sitka in 1991. Jeannette acquired a position at Public Assistance where she spent most of her working career. This continued even after she became ill, she selflessly continued to help others to receive services/assistance.

In 1995 she married Chip Korngiebel who served in the United States Coast Guard. Jeannette had her first child Hallie who was born in Sitka, Alaska in 1996. They were transferred to Hawaii where they had their second daughter Mollie in 1998. After Hawaii, they were stationed in Ilwaco, Washington for 3 years and then finally returned to Sitka in 2002.

In 2006 she married Dennis Bernhoft, where they continue to reside in Sitka. Jeannette became employed by the Center for Community and Dennis worked for SEARHC. When Jeannette became ill, Dennis stood by his wife, and very lovingly took care of her until the time of her death.

Jeannette’s childhood was spent in Fossil and Kinzua, Oregon and later moved to Prineville, Oregon. There she naturally enjoyed the outdoor life. She continued her passion of hiking and exploring the natural beauty of all that Sitka Alaska has to offer. Whenever you would come across Jeannette on a trail, you would for sure see her dog “Smokey”. He was always by her side until his passing. Jeannette gave her life to the Lord at an early age. Her faith in God was an inspiration to her family and friends. She understood the joy of simple things in life such as watching movies with her family, reading a good book, or having conservations with many of her good friends. Her girls were the center of her life.

Jeannette is survived by her husband Dennis Bernhoft, daughters Hallie and Mollie Bernhoft, parents Dan and Sharon Bell, brother John Bell, sister-in-law Terissia Bell, nephew Justin Bell, mother-in-law Doris Bernhoft, brother-in-law Mike Bernhoft, and two sister-in-laws, Margaret Shaffer and Ann Bernhoft, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces. Preceded in death by her nephew Nicholas Bell, and her beloved dog Smokey.

Bonnie Lee Blake Bonnie Lee Blake of Prineville died Fri. Sept 29, 2000 at her home, She was 69 years old She was born Dec., * 1930 in Kingman, Kans. to Jewell and Elizabeth (Sinnett) Warren. She was a 1948 graduate of Wellington High School. She married Richard Blake in 1947 in Wichita, Kan.

Mrs. Blake lived in several locations in Oregon including Sisters, John Day, Madras and Mollala. She finally settled in Prineville in 1985 where she also attended Central Oregon Community College. Her interests included oil painting, playing cards and putting puzzles together, raising birds and racing pigeons. She also enjoyed riding horses. She was a member of the Pigeon club of Redmond.

Mrs. Blake is survived by her sons Michael Blake of Ashland, Tom Blake of Eugene: daughter, Patricia Blake of Kuwait: sisters, Frances Warren and Jeannie Wahl, both of Wellington Kans. and Carolyn Ball of Wagoner, Okla.: seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Cremation will be held at the Prineville Heritage Crematory under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home. At her request no public service will be held. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Pioneer Memorial Hospice, 1201 N. Elm St. in Prineville. Arraignments are under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home.

Richard C. "Dick" Bigelow was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Portland, the eldest son of Clive M. and Laura (Strong) Bigelow, and a fourth-generation descendant of early Oregon pioneers Asa and Susannah (Johnson) Peterson. He passed quietly into the arms of Jesus his Savior Jan. 31, 2020, at the age of 92. Dick was raised and attended schools in what is now the Hawthorne area of Portland. He joined the Oregon State Guard at 16, where he excelled in marksmanship and joined the U.S. Army after graduating from Franklin High School in 1945. He was based in Seattle, where his duties included investigating courts- martial and escorting prisoners across the U.S.

After his discharge, he enrolled at Oregon State College (OSU), where he met Marilyn Ann McLain. They were married July 9, 1950, in Brownsville. Their first home was in Bend, where Mrs. Bigelow began her teaching career.

The couple lived and raised their four children in several communities throughout Oregon, including Wolf Creek, Burns, Garibaldi, Heppner and Pilot Rock; but, they loved Central Oregon and managed to spend much of their lives in Redmond, Terrebonne and Prineville. After Marilyn's death, Dick lived for a time in Pilot Rock and Ontario, then returned to Prineville, where he lived until moving to Awbrey Place in Bend in 2017 following a stroke.

Dick's working career began as an elevator boy for Mr. Fred Meyer. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service during his time at OSC as a wildland firefighter. He worked in the trucking industry as a driver and a terminal manager for several companies, including Safeway, Christensen Brothers, Bend Portland/Trans Western, Tillamook Creamery and JACO logging, where he also worked as a skidder operator. He also owned and operated a commercial fishing business. The entire family was involved in the construction of the Prineville First Baptist Church building in Prineville.

In the early 1970s, Dick felt God's call on his life to serve in church ministry and enrolled at Western Seminary in Portland. Following his Bible training, he sought out ways to serve the local church wherever he was. The family returned to Prineville, where he worked for Orlie Austin building houses. They then moved to Heppner, where he served as pastor of a small church in Lexington while working as a residential contractor. He then spent several years directing the Craftsmen for Christ arm of the Northwest Conservative Baptist Association, building and remodeling churches throughout Oregon and Washington. After retiring from Craftsmen, the Bigelows once again returned to Prineville, where Dick served as interim pastor at Paulina, in addition to the couple's involvement with FBC Prineville. In the late 90s, Dick & Marilyn moved to Pilot Rock, and he served in various preaching capacities at churches in Pendleton, Pilot Rock, Ontario, Ukiah and Weiser, Idaho. One of the chief highlights of his life was traveling to Russia, where he spent several weeks working with Russian pastors and getting to know some of the families there.

Over the decades of his life, he pursued interests in shooting, hunting, fishing, farming, cooking, water skiing, scuba diving, golf and flying. He also embraced Marilyn's love of horses, becoming part of both Redmond & Terrebonne Saddle Clubs, leading a 4-H Horse club and Drill Team, helping rancher friends and team roping with his friend, Everett Thornburgh.

Dick is survived by his four children, Elly (Rich) Reynolds of Prineville, Carol (Gary) Thompson of Oregon City, Clive (fiancée Caprice Plaep) of Powell Butte and Darryl (Claudia) of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kevin Bigelow; his wife, Marilyn; sister, Delores Dewey, and brother, Dr. Ron Bigelow.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, conducted at his request, by his grandchildren, Friday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. Public viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Prineville Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Paulina. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the American Cancer Society in Memory of Dick Bigelow. Donald H. Bird Donald H. Bird of Prineville died Tues., Dec. 12 , 2000 at his home. He was 80 Years Old. He was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Baker City to Howard and Ila (Smith) Bird. He was raised in Kinzua and graduated from Wheeler County High School in Fossil in 1938. Mr. Bird enlisted in the US army during WW2 and served in the South Pacific. He married his childhood sweetheart, Glennna M. Hoover in 1941. After the war he returned to Kinzua and worked in a mill untill 1959 when he moved to Wallowa and managed the Bates Sawmill untill 1964. He moved to Prineville from Idaho in 1976 where he worked for Hudspeth Sawmill and Clear Pine untill he retired in 1982.

Mr. Bird enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. He attended the Fossil Methodist Church and was a past member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his son Keith Bird of Lostine: brother Bud Bird of Pendelton: sister Beverly Turner of Palm Desert, CA, one grandson and one granddaughter. He was preceeded in death by his wife, parents and one son. Memorial contributions may be made in MR. Birds memory to the Fossil Methodist Church. Graveside services were held at the Fossil Cemetery on Dec. 15 . Cremation was held at the Prineville Heritage Crematory under the direction of the Prineville Funeral home.

Seth Leslie Blankenship June 13, 1980 - Dec. 29, 2000 Seth Leslie Blankenship of Powell Butte died Friday in a lumber truck accident. He was 20. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Powell Butte Christian Church. Vault Interment will follow at Powell Butte Cemetery. Pastor Chris Blair and Chris Yeager will officiate.

Mr. Blankenship was born June 13, 1980, in Bend, to Scott and Brenda (Peterson) Blankenship. He attended grammar school and middle school in Powell Butte and high school in Prineville. He graduated from Crook County High School in 1999. While in high school he was active in FFA; he earned the Green Hand, Chapter Farmer, State Farmer and American Farmer degrees. He received many proficiency awards while in FFA, including the Star Chapter Farmer Award.

After graduating from high school, Mr. Blankenship worked for Avila Farms in Powell Butte. He was a past member of FFA, Oregon Cattlemen's Association and past member and president of the Junior Hereford Association.

Mr. Blankenship enjoyed hunting, fishing, target practice, riding quads, showing cattle, having fun and spending time with his younger brother.

Survivors include his parents, Brenda Blankenship of Powell Butte and Scott Blankenship of Dayton; three brothers, Guy Wendt of Powell Butte and Ethon and Kyle Blankenship of Dayton; a stepsister, Ericka Wendt of San Diego; stepfather, J.R. Wendt of Powell Butte; maternal grandparents, State Rep. Lynn and Barbara Lundquist of Powell Butte; paternal grandparents, Dale and Shirley Blankenship of White Salmon, Wash.; great-grandmother, Hermena Lundquist of Newberg; and great-grandfather, Eugene Hill of Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by an uncle.

(Bill) Bond William K. (Bill) Bond of Prineville died Monday, September 11, 2000, of electrocution at his job site. Mr. Bond was born Aug 24, 1956 in Lebanon to Kenneth and Patricia (Long) Bond. He grew up in Lebabon and attended school there, graduating in 1974. He moved to Prineville in 1989 where he owned and operated the B. Bond Tree Service for many years.

He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and camping. He was an accomplished team roper and competed in may Central Oregon rodeos including the Paulina Rodeo where he won the champion header in the 1993 and 1997 rodeos. He owned and operated a cattle ranch east of Prineville where he raised longhorn cattle and quarter horses. He also enjoyed tinkering with farm equipment, fixing, selling and buying at the equipment and cattle auctions.

Survivors include his parents Ken and Pat Bond of Mitchell: brother, Steve Bond of Prineville: Sisters Stephanie Salvage of Lebanon, and Peggy Lindquist of Mitchell and fiance, Denise Green of Prineville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept, 17 at 1PM at the Prineville Community Church at 520 NE Elm. Pastor Curtis Hold of the Mitchell Assemble of God Church will officiate. Graveside services will be held at the Burnt Ranch Cemetery in Mitchell.

Jay Bohannon Jay Patrick "Pat" Bohannon, 74, of Mitchell, Oregon passed away October 12, 2008. A memorial service will be held at the Mitchell Community Center on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. "Pat" was born on May 21, 1934 to Garland E. Bohannon and Gussie Marie Fox in Moyer, Oklahoma. He attended Mitchell High School then attended Monmouth College. He joined the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1956. He was in the company that launched the first guided surface to air missiles in White Sands, New Mexico.

He then started logging for Hudspeth Pine in Oregon, Utah and Colorado for 8 years. After logging he then started a business with a couple of friends building house packages. In the spring of 1973 he moved back to Mitchell, where he was a rancher and worked for Fran Cherry. He later moved to Twickenham and ranched there and worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife during the summer months. "Pat" married Myrna Kathleen (Powell) Francis on June 27, 1957 in Long Creek,Ore. His hobbies were working cattle, chasing wild horses, braiding rawhide, reading, fishing, writing, beading and looking forward to calls from his friends and family.

"Pat" is survived by his wife Myrna Bohannon of Mitchell, Ore; Son Shawn Patrick Bohannon of Vancouver, WA; Sister Linda Keys of Mitchell, Ore; Nephews Pat Keys of Mitchell, Ore; Ronnie Keys of Prineville, Ore; two grand nephews; one grand niece and numerous in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Garland E. and Gussie M. (Fox) Bohannon.

Marvin H. Braxton passed away on Sept. 9, 2014. He was born on May 21, 1934. There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. to be held at the Prineville Eagles Lodge, 235 NE 4th St., Prineville. Warren Brown Warren was born April 19, 1925 in Bend as Warren Richardson Brown to Warren and Nona Brown of Prineville. He was immediately nicknamed "Buster" and was known as "Buster" all through his school years. After graduating from Crook County High School in 1943, he served in the Marine Corps on the USS Republic during WWII. After his service in the Marine Corps and one year attending the Unversity of Oregon, he began his career with the U.S. Geological Survey, Western Region. His working career for over 30 years was a cartographer everywhere west of the Mississippi River, north in the summer and south in the winter. He enjoyed boating and flying his own plane.

After retiring, he enjoyed several trips to Europe and numerous cruises flying his airplane. In 1988, he moved back to Prineville where he owned property at Powell Butte. After a series of strokes, he needed to be confined at Ochoco Care Center in February 2006, where he received excellent care. He died Nov. 16, 2008 after a massive blood clot.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Shirley Whiting of Prineville; Warren's sister Mollie Monahan of Milton Freewater, Ore.; her children, daughter Kay Monahan, son Tom Monahan, wife Teresa and daughter Tia; Warren's nephews Blue Andrews, wife Sandra and family; J.T. Monahan, wife Mary and family, all of Seattle.

Memorials may be made to the Crook County Historical Society of Prineville. Graveside service for an inurnment will be held Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, Ore., then to follow a memorial service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 695 W. 3rd St. Prineville, Ore. Officiating will be Pastor Barbara Punch. Prineville Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Prineville Community Church. Pastor Chris Cookston will officiate. Private graveside services will precede at Juniper Haven Cemetery.

Dottie was born the daughter of Lloyd and Genevieve (Johnston) Walker on Dec. 18,1934, in St. Francis, Kan. She moved to Prineville when she was 5 years old. She attended schools in Prineville and was a 1953 graduate of Crook County High School.

On Aug.11, 1956 in Prineville she married Richard Wayne Breese. She worked for over 29 years for the State of Oregon at the Prineville office of Adult and Family Services. She retired in the late 1990s. She was an active member of the Prineville Community Church where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed being part of the kitchen ministry. She was a volunteer at the Crook County Library for many years and just recently retired. She loved reading and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband in Sept. of 2009, her parents and one granddaughter. She is survived by her sons; Wayne and his wife Donna of Prineville, Jeff and his wife Shimry of Bend; one brother, Jim Walker of Prineville; one grandson, and four great grandchildren.

Jacqueline Capehart Jacqueline Mae "Jackie" Capehart a Prineville resident passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008. She was 82 years of age.

She attended home groups with Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and extended family.

Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, cooking and baking. She loved being with her children and grand kids. She was a very giving person.

Allen Eric Carlson Feb. 18, 1939 - Jan. 3, 2001 Allen Eric Carlson of Gilchrist died Wednesday of leukemia. He was 61. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Heritage Chapel at Prineville Funeral Home. Mr. Carlson was born Feb. 18, 1939, in St. Cloud, Minn. He moved to Prineville from Backus, Minn., in 1948. He graduated from Crook County High School in 1957. He worked at various sawmills in Central Oregon and was a head sawyer for Crown Pacific for 11 years. He retired in 1998. He married Bobbie J. Bennett on June 18, 1986, in Chemult.

They moved to Gilchrist in 1991. Mr. Carlson enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling throughout the West Coast and Alaska. He also enjoyed history, music, animals and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of Gilchrist; two sons, Danny and Steven, both of Redmond; three stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Cullum-Oshea of Grants Pass, Leslie LaKings of Newport and Bobbie LaKings of Crescent Lake Junction; two sisters, Evelyn Ellestad of Moses Lake, Wash., and Vivian Jamison of Oregon City; two brothers, Roy of Prineville and Gene of Shady Hills, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Virginia Carpenter A funeral was held on Nov. 4, 2008 in Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home for Virginia May Carpenter, who died Oct. 30 at age 89.

Virginia May Parker was born on Oct. 19,191, in Harvey, Iowa. She moved to Portland in the early 1940s. She and her husband owned Buena Vista Care Home in Oregon City. She moved to Prineville in 1976. In 1945, she married Napoleon "Ted" Carpenter; he died in 1986. Survivors include her daughters, Twyla Stephens and Sharon McKinney; two grandchildren, Matthew Stephens and LaVeda Stephens; and two great-grandchildren. Jeffrey Edward Carter from Tuesday, August 22 Central Oregonian Jeffery Edward Carter of Prineville died on Friday, Aug 18, 200. He was 19 years old. He was born on Feb. 21, 1981 to Tim and Diana (Monroe) Carter in Prineville. He attended Crook County Schools graduating in 1999. After graduation he worked for his father at Tim Carter Construction.

Mr. Carter greatly enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, camping and bull riding, riding four wheelers and motorcycles and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his sister, Amy. Survivors include his parents, Tim Carter and Diana Hamilton of Prineville; sister, Amy Carter of Prineville; brothers Ryan Carter of Chehalis, Wash.; grandfathers Ed Carter of Prineville and Ben Monroe of Lebanon: and girlfriend and son Laurie and Jonathan Simpson of Prineville. He was preceded in death by two grandmothers and one uncle.

Dale Craige Cartner Central Oregonian, Thursday, August 10, 2000 Dale Craige Cartner of Seneca died August 4, 200. He was 47 years old. Mr. Cartner was born April, 17 1953 in Florence. He attended school in Crook County, graduating in 1971.

He studied drafting for 2 years at COCC and worked as a carpenter. He lived in Prineville untill 1997 when he moved to Seneca, where he met and married Tammy. At the time of his death he was employed as a timber faller. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife Tammy Cartner of Seneca; a son , Dustin Cartner of Colorado; daughters, Tess Cartner of Prineville, Rheanna Cartner of Seneca; stepson Jeremy Rider Of Seneca; parents, Kim and Kate White of Madras; brothers, Bill Cartner of Portland, George Cartner of Portland, Duke White of Prineville; sister, Kody Parton of Madras; uncle, Al Osborn of Woodburn and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Amanda Chapman Amanda "Mandy" Mae Chapman a Prineville resident passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. She was 71 years old.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Prineville Funeral Home and graveside service to follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Prineville Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will follow the graveside to The Prineville Praise and Worship Center for a luncheon. Pastors Brad Witbracht and Richard Hargreaves will officiate. Amanda was born in London, Kentucky on September 28, 1937 to Ora (Fields) and Homer Broughton. Amanda moved to Prineville in 1960 from Ft. Knox, Kentucky. She worked for many years cleaning the offices of Consolidated Pine in Prineville. She enjoyed cooking, loved being a homemaker and raising her sons and grandchildren. Gardening raising flowers and moon lit nights. She had hummingbird feeders all around her house. She loved to watch her boys play ball. She loved the Mariners and enjoyed T.V. especially Wheel of Fortune and Deal Or No Deal. Her family remembers her as the perfect mother. She always cooked for all who came to her home. She was well known for her fried apple pie and watching the quail and deer from her back deck. She was a member and was very active in the Prineville Eagles Lodge.

She attended Prineville Praise and Worship Church in Prineville, Oregon. She is survived by her two sons, Michael and wife Mary Chapman and Roger and wife Susan Chapman and one brother, Robert Broughton of Frenchtown, Montana and one sister, Betty Adams of Prineville four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband "Gail" in 1988, three sisters, and her companion of 18 years, Tom Smith in 2000. Photo is Here Betty Jean Claypool passed away Feb. 7 in Prineville. A service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Betty was born in St. Helens on May 28, 1924, to parents Ernest Samuel Sr. and Florence Esther Engstrom. Betty's family moved to Prineville in 1940 before she was a sophomore at Crook County High School, from which she later graduated.

Betty met Lawrence Claypool, her future husband of 69-plus years, and were married June 6, 1942. Shortly after marrying, Lawrence left to attend basic training for the Seventh Army Air Corps. Betty followed Lawrence to different bases as he completed basic and advanced training. As a military wife, Betty stayed and helped out in boarding houses and always found employment as a telephone operator and/or secretary on the bases.

Soon afterward, Betty and Lawrence found they were pregnant with their first child. Betty returned to Prineville to live until Lawrence came back from serving in World War II. Son Robert "Bob" James was born in 1944; daughter, Helen Marie, was born in 1946; and daughter, Esther Jean, born in 1948. The family was complete.

In addition to being a loving wife and excellent mother, Betty worked over the years as a grade school cook, medical receptionist, and grade school secretary. She loved her home and family but enjoyed working in the public serving others. Betty was sweet, personable and outgoing with a continuous smile for everyone. While serving as the secretary at Crooked River Grade School, Betty was known to give out hugs to the students. Betty, along with Lawrence, was active in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, serving as a member f the Altar Guild and Vestry. A high point of her public service was the Crook County Historical Society, where she served as president.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Ann Gerke (Jerry); three previously mentioned children, Bob (Diane), Helen (Al) and Esther (Mike Gowrylow); five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; parents, Ernest, Sr. and Florence Engstrom; sisters, Mary Millsap, Maxine Robnett and Beryl Landers; and brother, Ernie Engstrom, Jr. Memorial contributions can be made to Partners in Care/Hospice.

Ardys Ruth Houston Close March 09, 2011 Ardys Ruth Houston Close, 77, passed away March 7, 2011 in Prineville. A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Prineville. Mardee Carter will officiate. Private graveside service was held at Juniper Haven Cemetery.

Ardys was born at home to Van and Helen (Bennett) Houston on May 8, 1933, in Prineville. She graduated from Crook County High School in 1951, valedictorian of her class. She then attended the University of Oregon as a music student. She later attended COCC. She married Dwight Robirds in 1958 and they were later divorced. She married Clarence (Corn) Close in 1979. He predeceased her in 2004.

Ardys was a bookkeeper and prepared taxes up until her death. She worked for Dick McRae, and later Jerry Blank, before opening her own office in 1974. She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary group, the Veteran's Auxiliary, and the Prineville Golf and Country Club. She was a member of the Crook County Historical Society, and in 2007 named Pioneer Queen, an honor of which she was very proud.

She is survived by daughters, Anita (Mark) Endresen of Silverton, Ore., and Linda (Kim) Christensen of Bend. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Keri Grimes of Bend, Jeremy Smalling and his wife Sarah of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kassie Dedmon and husband, Jerry of Bend, Aaron Post and wife, Merisa of Bend; and four great grandchildren; sister, Erma Henriksen, of Anchorage, Alaska and brother Glenn Houston, of New Plymouth, Idaho.

Edna W. Collins, a beloved mother passed away on Thursday, September 18th, 2014 surrounded by her children and family. A funeral service will be held at the Prineville Funeral Home Heritage Chapel on Saturday, September 27th at 4:00pm with a reception to follow.

Edna was born outside of Harpster, Idaho on November 16th, 1928. Her parents were Ludwig Konrad and Lottie (Ruff) Konrad. She attended school in Harpster and married Jim Collins. After 22 years, she divorced and moved to Prineville, Oregon where she lived for 50 years. She worked at the Crook County Nursing Home for 35 years until her retirement when the nursing home was shut down. . After her retirement, she volunteered at the Senior Center until a few years ago due to her Parkinson's disease. She loved her home and was always working in her yard. She loved to watch sports on television, especially the Oregon Trail Blazers. She had always enjoyed games and watching the deer and other critters in her yard. She so loved being with all of her friends.

She is survived by her son; Jesse (Beth) Collins; and daughters Connie (Bruce) McLeod, Karen (John) Teff, Joleen Evans, and Bonita (Gary) Chancellor; her brother Herman Konrad; 11 grandchildren, 12 ½ great- grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, a sister, a grandson Tyson Chancellor, and her special friend Don Cardin. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Tri-State Hospital in Clarkston, Idaho for their wonderful care and compassion.

Jerry A.L. Crafton, age 80, of Prineville, passed away on Dec. 11 surrounded by his family. Jerry was born Feb. 15, 1934 in Tigard, to Dale and Veta Crafton.

He is survived by his wife, Elva Crafton, of Prineville; five sons, Jerry D. and his wife Karma Crafton of Prineville, John L. and his wife Michelle Crafton of Prineville, Joe and his wife Linda Crafton of McMinnville, James D. and his wife Jill Crafton of Redmond, and Jason A. and his wife Niki Crafton of Prineville; one step-son, Jim Nelson and his wife Brenda of Crooked River Ranch; three step-daughters, Brenda Comini of Prineville, Linda Miller and her husband Nick of Bend, and Glenda Lantis and her husband Ward of Bend. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three brothers. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol June (Stout) Crafton, who passed away in 2008. His parents, Dale and Veta (Miller) Crafton; two sisters, Virginia Stevens and Juanita Giltner; and one brother, Clint Crafton.

Jerry was known by many and would often wear many different hats. Jerry was well known in the community for being a trusted realtor for many years. He also served as Crook County commissioner for multiple terms. He owned and operated a successful construction company in Redmond after many years as an insurance agent in Central Oregon. In his younger years he was also was known as quite the rancher. He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling. He had a great love for the outdoors and embraced every opportunity to spend time with loved ones in the woods. He always had a passion for flying and even earned his pilot’s license. His biggest “hobby” was helping people, you couldn’t stop him from trying to help.

He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, past Crook County commissioner, past member of the High Desert ESD and a member of the Board of Directors. He was also a current member of the Crook County Planning Commission.

A memorial service will be held at Eastside Church in Prineville, Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. and a gathering will be held immediately following with potluck in the reception hall at the church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday for Earl L. Crain, Gridley, who died Saturday at the Martinez Veteran's Administration Hospital after a lengthy illness. Crain, 86, was born in Prineville, Ore., on Aug. 31, 1892, the son of Prineville pioneers Francis and Nellie Crain. Early in life, Crain traveled with his father on covered freight wagons and also harvested hay with his father from what is now the bottom of Buck's Lake in Plumas County. He moved to Gridley in 1940 and operated a dairy ranch in the Manzanita area. In the late 1940's he and his family operated a prune, walnut and rice ranch. He married Cecile Fairlee in 1924. A veteran of World War I, Crain was a founder and past commander of the Warren H. McCutcheon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5731 in Gridley. He was also a member of the American Legion and World War I Barracks No. 1198, Gridley. Crain was also a member of the Pomona grange and the Gridley Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Cecile, of Gridley; two sons, Eston E. Crain of Selah, Wash., and Ralph O. Crain of Gridley; a daughter, Elizabeth Farr of Reno; two sisters, Bessie Houk of Portland, Ore., Minnie Gray of Beaverton, Ore., Maude Monical of Bend, Ore., and Charlotte Isham of Prineville, Ore.; a brother, Roy Crain of Prineville, Ore.; and nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. W. C. Jensen, a friend of Crain's will officiate at the funeral services held at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, The VFW Post No. 5731 will participate in the funeral and graveside services. Burial will be in Gridley-Biggs cemetery. Visitations can be made tomorrow between 9 a.m. And 5 p.m. And 7 and 9 p.m. Memorials to favorite charities have been suggested by the family.

Kay S. Curry Kay S. Curry of Powell Butte died on Sept. 3, 2000. She was 59 years old. She was born November 25, 1941, to William A. and Shirley (Porter) Mishey in Portland. She lived most of her life in the central Oregon area. She graduated from the Madras High school. In 1987 she married Ross Curry in Reno, Nevada.

Mrs. Curry enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Ross Curry of Powell Butte: son Eric Chamness of Eugene: stepson and daughter in law Daren and Pam Curry of Powell Butte: daughters, Susan Chamness of San Francisco, Calif., Teresa and Phil Flores of Kennewick, Wash.: brothers William and Elaine Mishey of Newport: father, William A. and Kay Mishey of Dufer: four grandchildren and her dog Goldie.

She was preceded in death by her mother. Services were scheduled for today at 11 AM at the Powell Butte Christian Church. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Deschutes Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

H. Glen Davison H. Glen Davison of Prineville died Thurs., Oct. 5 at his home. He was 82 years old. He was born to William and Susie (Hines) Davison on June 19, 1918, and raised in Kiowa, OK. where he graduated from high school. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Casa Grande, AZ in the 30s. He married Peggy Standerfer in 1939 and she preceded him in death in 1981. During WW2 he worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oakland, CA. He married Billie M. Whitehurst in 1982. Mr. Davison lived and worked in several locations in California and Washington untill 1985 when he moved to the Central Oregon area and Prineville in 1989. He was a member of the Prineville Church of Christ, the Good Sam Club, R.P.I Club and the Coast to Coast travel Club. He enjoyed traveling in his moterhome all across the US He also enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife Billie Davison of Prineville: daughter Glenda Gayle Morehouse of Garden Grove, CA.: sons Berry Ray Davison of Omaha, NE., James Norman Davison of Pacifica, CA., and Ben Jay Davison of LaGrande: stepdaughter Linda K Kentner of Prineville: stepson Rich Whitehurst of Prineville: brothers V.V. Jackie DeBoer passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at the age of 62. Jackie was born March 13, 1957 in Monticello, Utah to Loyd and Erdine Jones Burk. On November 13, 1976 she married the man that captured her heart, Craig Dean DeBoer. Jackie and Craig welcomed the birth of their much beloved son, Burke Dean DeBoer to the world on June 7, 1993. She was the youngest of 7 children and was always, and will always, be their "baby girl".

Jackie worked for many years as the office manager for Mr. John Kendall when he owned the radio station KRCO and continued handling much of his business affairs after he sold the station. Jackie loved photography and kept a pictorial journey of all our lives. She also enjoyed creating videos for and about all those she loved.

She loved her horses and had many favorites over the years. She and Craig eventually began their own "little cattle herd" and they raised and sold livestock for many years. She named all the livestock as they were bought and born and she had the "tongue in cheek" habit of naming one of them, at some time or another, after each one of her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Burke of Woodburn; her sisters, Suzie Curtis of Terrebonne, Anita Burk of Prineville, Ann Slavin of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Sandy (Bill) Reynvann of Prineville; her brother, Billy (Connie) Burk of Prineville; her sister-in-love, Carol (John) McGrath of Brandon, South Dakota. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. Jackie was proceeded in death by her father, Loyd Burk; father-in-love, Alvin DeBoer; her mother, Erdine Burk; her brother-in-love, Terry DeBoer; her mother-in-love, Esther Wrona; her husband, Craig DeBoer and her brother, Larry Burk.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Prineville, a repass will follow the memorial service at the same location. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Prineville branch of the St Charles Hospice Association. Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of her cremation and her remains will be combined with the love of her life, her husband, Craig DeBoer.

He was born on April 20, 1932. Services will be held at a later date. Blanche Donavan Blanche Donavan of Prineville died at the Ochoco Nursing Home on Oct. 5 2000. She was 73 years old. She was born in Klamath Falls and moved top Los Angeles when in her 30s and back to Klamath Falls in 70s. Mrs. Donavan moved to Redmond in 1995 to be near he daughter. Her main occupation was a bartender.

Survivors include her Daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Bob Sloan of Redmond: brother Cecil Low, JR. Of Klamath Falls: five grandchildren and eight great-grandchilden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Dale Donavan: daughter, Cecelia James, one grandchild, one great-grandchild and her parents. No formal services are to be held. Earl Doney Feb 2009 Central Oregonian - On line Earl Frederick Doney, a Prineville resident passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, he was 92 years of age.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 2:30 p.m at Prineville Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held Monday at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Pastor Galvez will officiate with military honors provided by the Crook County High School NJROTC. Cadets. Earl was born in Livingston, Minnesota on Jan. 13, 1917 to Mary (Benton) and Albert Doney. Mr. Doney moved to Prineville as a youth. He was raised and educated in Prineville and was a 1935 graduate of Crook County High School. Following high school he farmed in Crook Co. and worked in produce. He moved to Idaho for two years then returned to Prineville and worked for Pacific Fruit until he retired in 1981.

After he retired he worked at Pioneer Memorial Hospital as a maintenance technician. He also worked for Puckett Mint and Murphy Farms. On July 11, 1969 he was married to Celia Garcia in Mt. Home, Idaho. She preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1999. He enjoyed carpentry and the outdoors. He loved to read especially mysteries, suspense and history. He also enjoyed traveling around Oregon in his car.

He is survived by his daughters, Janie and her husband, Jesse Tapia of Redmond, Ore., Sally Cuellar of San Bruno, Calif., Maria Delaluz and her husband Robert Figuroa of Redmond, Ore., Inez Cuellar of Powell Butte, Ore., Molly Cuellar of San Antonio, Texas and sons, Jose Cuellar of Prineville, Ore., Juan Cuellar of Olympia, Wash., Cruz and wife Jody Cuellar of Fresno, Calif., Bassillo and his wife Delia Cuellar of Bremerton, Wash., Raymond and his wife Linda Cuellar of Prineville, Ore., Donald Holmes of Vancouver, Wash., Vern Orcutt & Linda Jackson of King, N.C, seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Fred in 2000 and one granddaughter, Jennifer in 2008.

Doris Donnelly Feb 2009 Central Oregonian - On line Doris M. Donnelly, former publisher of The Central Oregonian and an active member of the Prineville community, died Feb. 8, 2009. She was 90. She had lived the last 15 years in Hermiston and was a resident at the Regency Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the time of her death.

Mrs. Donnelly was born April 27,1918 in Portland, Ore., the daughter of Knute and Cecelia Qualley. She and her husband, Edward A. Donnelly, published newspapers in Lake Oswego and Milwaukie before purchasing Prineville’s weekly newspaper, the Central Oregonian & Tribune Publishing Co., in 1954. She served as the newspaper’s advertising manager while Ed focused on the production and business sides of the paper. They operated the Central Oregonian until Ed’s death in 1962 at which time Doris assumed the position of president of the company. She continued to operate the paper until she sold it to Dennis Smith and the Central Oregon Publishers in 1969. She was a long-time member of Eastern Star, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and other clubs and organizations.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Eunice Donnelly of Moscow, ID (formerly of Prineville); four grandchildren, Kelly Schwirse of Hermiston; Aaron Donnelly of Moscow, Ida.; and Didi Halstead and Tina Donnelly, both of western Oregon; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Norman Donnelly.

Ruby Drew Ruby M. Drew of Prineville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at the Carriage House in Prineville. She was 90 years old.

There will be a public viewing on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Prineville Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be at Juniper Haven Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005. Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate.

Ruby was born on May 12, 1915, in Prineville, Oregon, the daughter of Charles Clay and Mary Jane (Smith) Birdsong, pioneers of Crook County. She was raised and educated in Prineville, and graduated from Prineville High School in 1933.

Then she moved to the Mitchell area, and ranched for five years. She then went to a fishing resort on the Sacramento River for three years. After that, she lived in Los Angeles for four years, and then to Portland, where she started working in the credit department at Meier & Frank for 16 years. She returned to Prineville and has been here since 1977. Her hobbies included homemaking, gardening, reading history, cooking, and sewing.

She was a member of the Prineville Elks Lodge, Ladies of the Elks, and she was a volunteer of the Crook Co. Historical Society at Bowman Museum. She enjoyed music and played the guitar, banjo and fiddle. She is survived by her brother Charles Birdsong of Troutdale, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and three brothers. Funeral arrangements are by Prineville Funeral Home.

Irene Duckett (Doris Irene Talbott Duckett) passed away quietly on Jan. 21, 2020, in Reno, Nevada. Her proudest accomplishment in life was having been married to Jack Duckett for 64 years. Together they had a wonderful life. They were pleased that all five of their daughters graduated from college and became happy, independent women. They were also delighted with their 14 grandchildren, many of whom spent summers working with Irene and Jack at Duckett Welding in Prineville, Oregon. Irene was born in a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp in Glacier Park. Her Dad, Platt Talbott, managed CCC crews and her Mom, Alberta Holbrook Talbott, cooked and cleaned for those same crews. Irene spent her first few years in Riggins, Idaho, before the family moved to the Lower Imnaha River then on to the Wallowa Valley. She attended various grade schools in Wallowa County and graduated from Joseph High School in 1948. Her dad insisted that she work after graduation, so she worked at the bank in Enterprise for a year before marrying Jack and moving to Imnaha.

Before long, Irene and Jack left Wallowa County in search of adventures, which took them to Phoenix, Arizona, Honey Dew, California, Boise, Idaho, and Prineville, Oregon. Imnaha and Wallowa County would always be home to them and they returned there often to visit or live for short periods of time. Irene was always a hard worker. As a youngster she helped with the family ranch and produce gardens. She was cooking for harvest crews at the age of 12. She worked as a bookkeeper, a phone switchboard operator and helped at a gas station. She also worked as a school secretary.

As her daughters were growing up and moving out on their own, Irene began moving out on her own as well. She owned and operated The Fabric Shoppe and worked, for a time, as Certified Nurse's Aide before going to work full-time at Duckett Welding.

Irene was strong and determined. If you got cut, she would pour turpentine on the wound and send you back to work. If the cut was deep, she would use super glue to keep it closed and send you back to work. She was once cutting metal for a customer when the saw broke and fell on her leg. She was taken to the hospital, had the leg set, and went back to work. (The man she was cutting steel for at the time came back and purchased the saw at the machinery auction. He was so impressed by Irene's tenacity that he had to have the saw that broke her leg.)

After Jack passed away in May 2013, Irene lived with daughters in Oregon, Montana, and South Carolina before settling into a place of her own in a care facility in Nevada. There will be no service or memorial per Irene's wishes. Irene and Jack requested that their ashes be intermingled and that the daughters scatter the ashes at Imnaha where they would always be home.

Darlene Eakin Central Oregonian Darlene Eakin, mother, grandmother, friend, adventurer, and supporter of athletics, passed away Friday at her home in Bend, Oregon while listening to the Crook County Cowgirls play at the 4A state volleyball tournament. She was 67.

The cause of death was ovarian cancer, which she had battled for more than three years. Darlene was best known for her infectious smile and enthusiastic outlook on life. She had an unwavering desire to push those around her to be the best they could be. Darlene was born in Junction City, Oregon and graduated as the first female student body president of Junction City High School in 1956. She went on to Oregon State University and graduated with a physical education degree in 1960. She married Merle Eakin in 1960. They moved to Prineville, Oregon where she started her teaching career at Crook County High School.

From 1963 to 1975 she dedicated her energy to raising her three daughters Renae, Heidi, and Tonya. During this time you might find her waterskiing, snowskiing, camping, rodeoing, bowling or chasing cows and sheep. She continued her teaching career, since 1975, in Cove Oregon, La Grande, Oregon and the Department of Defense Dependent Schools of Japan and Korea. She was dedicated to 4-H and served as a club leader as well as the president of the Leaders Association in Union County. Her commitment toward athletics was evidenced by coaching volleyball and being a dedicated supporter of her daughters in volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She was most comfortable on a set of bleachers somewhere in the state visiting with other athletic enthusiasts. Darlene was a master of asking "20 questions" of a perfect stranger. She loved skiing and made sure that school vacations were spent skiing with family and friends somewhere in the northwest. She has been a season pass holder at Mt. Bachelor since 1962. Her quest for health fitness was apparent with 5K)s, walking Pilot Butte and working out along with eating carrots and apples. She participated in every Hot Shot Memorial run.

Darlene continued her "no fear" attitude as she traveled around the world running in hash events, playing golf, attending Olympic events, country dancing, scuba diving, skiing, and gambling. Climbing the Great Wall of China, Oregon)s South Sister, the Grand Canyon and Mt. Fuji were some of her memorable outings. Darlene retired from the Department of Defense in 1999 returning home to her mountains and her outdoor adventures in central Oregon. Her retirement included being a ski instructor at Mt. Bachelor, volunteering for Volunteers in Medicine, picking up garbage for the Adopt a Road program and attending reunions with her classmates. Her greatest thrill in retirement was being her grandchildren)s number one fan. Jessica and Zachary Lea, as well as Andrew and Kelsy Weber were the apples of her eyes.

She was saddened by the fact that she had to go before she could see them graduate from college. She loved animals and always made time to stop and pet a dog or cat. The last year was spent in the constant companionship of "Gyspy" her grey lap dog.

Darlene is survived by three daughters and their families: Renae, Terry, Andrew and Kelsy Weber of Vale, Heidi, Jessica and Zachary Lea of Prineville and Tonya and Mark Koopman of Bend, her brother, Rod Johnson and sister Doris Allison. Her celebration memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. at the Powell Butte Christian Church, 13720 SW Highway 126, Powell Butte, Oregon. Memorial contributions can be made to the Darlene Eakin Athletic Fund, Bank of the Cascades, 103 NW 3rd Street, Prineville, OR 97754. When finances are a hardship, this fund will assist children of all ages so they may have the opportunity to participate in athletics.

Glenna Valene Eggers From the central Oregonian Thursday, August 17, 2000 Glenna Valene Eggers of Prineville passed away on Tuesday, August 15. She was 64 years old. Mrs. Eggers was born on June 2, 1936, to parents Glenn and Ferne (Baxter) Peck in Albany. She attended school in Foster and graduated from high school in Sweet home. She then attended Cascade College in Portland for three years. After college worked for the state of Oregon for approximately 3 years. Then she moved to California for about to California for about two years, untill moving back to Sweet Home.

One May 2, 1963, Glenna married her husband Arnold Eggers in Foster. The couple moved to Prineville in 1975. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, bowling, fishing, and good conversation. She greatly loved her grandchildren and being with her family. and her dog Charlie. She was a member of the Prineville Bowling Association and ladies Bible group of our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold: her sons, Lee Eggers, Frank Eggers, Darien Eggers and George Bowles: her daughter, Rene Bell: her sisters, Nola Thrasher and Dairene Ferris: her brothers, Lonnie Peck, Larry Peck and Delvin Peck: 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one stepbrother.

Memorial may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17 from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. and Friday, August 18 from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Whispering Pines Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 695 W 3rd St. at 10 A.M. on Friday, August 18. Pastor Gene Bradbury will be officiating. Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in Charge of the arraignments. James Erro James Anthony Edward Erro died on October 10, 2008, he was 74 years old. Jim was born January 18, 1934 in San Diego, Calif. to Margaret and Augustine Erro. James married Rose (Shuell) Erro on January 14, 1956 in West Linn, Ore. They moved to Madras in 1980. James was a meat cutter since he was a teenager. He owned Double E Meat Corp. since 1984. He loved talking to people especially about God's Kingdom. He loved to bowl and was overjoyed when he found the time to golf. He is survived by his wife Rose Erro of Madras, his mother Margaret Erro of Veneta, two sisters June Siller of Eugene, and Margaret Brock of Prineville. He had many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Madras Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1545 SE Adams Dr., Madras Ore., 97741, on Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mother ~ Grandmother ~ Great-Grandmother ~Great-Great-Grandmother Marjorie Escover, 90 years young, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, in the loving home of her daughter, Barbara, and son-in-law, Terry Putnam, of Emmett, Idaho. She recently moved to Emmett, Idaho, from Prineville, Oregon, in September of last year to live with and be cared for by her daughter, Barbara.

She loved to sew, garden, paint and wallpaper her many residences. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and shopping local thrift stores for that special find. She thoroughly enjoyed working on her search word books, which she had in every room of the house, in every purse or tote or in the cars she rode in. She loved cats, whether they were hers, of which there were many, or yours. Many cats grew very fond of her, and she loved every minute with them. She loved flowers and anything with a floral pattern, and it showed throughout her many homes, she really, really loved to move and lived in many towns and states. She loved to dance.

She was a very charitable person to all her friends, neighbors and, of course, her family. She was a bit of a scrapper, keeping her younger siblings in line in the backwoods of Missouri, where they were all born.

She originally moved to Prineville in the mid-1970s and loved living there for over 40 years. In recent years she fought a brave battle with breast and lymphoma cancer, which she succumbed to and passed peacefully in her sleep.

She is survived by daughters, Gloria Jean Bleigh, Rita Joan Ormande, Brenda Louise Stinnett, Barbara June Putnam, Phyllis Ann Thomas, and her only son, Bryan Nicholas Herrera; as well as 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and June Wilson, and all of her siblings, George Wilson, Laverne Wilson-Barnes, Kenneth Wilson, Carl Wilson, Shirley Wilson-Staggs, Wanda Wilson, Wilma Wilson and Lawrence Wilson; as well as her youngest daughter, Teresa Lynn Wallace-Caporale, and a granddaughter, Carrie Lynn Lowman.

There will be a visitation at Prineville Funeral Home Feb. 14, 2020, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be on Feb. 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Prineville Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Her immediate family and closest friends will gather at the local Mazatlan Restaurant on Main Street at 2 p.m. Viola M. Feakes Feb. 6, 2001 Viola M. (Wilcoxen) Feakes of Prineville died Tuesday of natural causes. She was 84. No service will be held. Mrs. Feakes was born Nov. 28, 1916, in Joplin, Mo., to Frank and Georgia Wilcoxen. She grew up and attended school in Florence, then moved to Astoria, where she worked for a short time. She married Richard A. Feakes on Feb. 14, 1948, in Seaside. They moved to Jewell and then to Prineville in 1983. Survivors include her husband, Richard of Prineville; two sons, Larry of Prineville and Jerry of Portland; one brother, Homer Wilcoxen of Seaside; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter. Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Folston From Tuesday, September 5, 2000 Central Oregonian Ruth Folston of Prineville died on Wed., Aug 30 at her home. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Folston was born June 30, 1920, to William and Alira (Keys) Folston in Mitchell. She attended schools in Mitchell. She moved to Eugene in 1942 and to Portland in 1945. In 1975 she moved to Prineville where she lived untill 1978 when she moved to Lakeview. She moved back to Prineville in 1990. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Hobbies included embroidery, taking walks and socializing with friends. Lorraine was born July 24, 1936, to Tony and Margaret (Tosta) Mendes in Hollister, California. There will be a graveside service Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Lorraine was a loving wife to Frank for 63 years, mother, and grandmother. For 28 years, Lorraine drove school bus for the Eagle Point School District. When she retired, she spent all of her time gardening, camping, crocheting, hunting, and spending time with her son and grandchildren. Her summers were spent at the fair with grandchildren and driving the fair bus for RVTD. Lorraine loved telling stories from the old times sharing family photos and recipes with the grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Fortado, and his wife, Jeanne, of Philomath, Oregon; one sister, Nadine of Medford, Oregon; grandchildren, Ronald Fortado Jr. of Oregon City, Oregon, Dustin Fortado and his wife, Marissa, of Rush, Oregon, Savannah Fortado of Philomath, Oregon, Joli Hobbs of Medford, Oregon, and Sierra Fortado of Portland, Oregon. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Fortado, of 63 years; her parents, Tony and Margaret Mendes; her sister, Florian, and her brother, Sonny.

Kevin Frank Kevin E. Frank passed away at his home in Keizer on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. He was born on April 17, 1953. Kevin worked as a residential painter for most of his life. He lived in Prineville from 1972-1980. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Rickard Center in the First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 NE Market St., Salem, Ore. Hazel Webb Fulkerson Hazel Webb Fulkerson of Redmond died Thurs., Sept. 7, 2000. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Fulkerson was born in Leesburg, Fla., on March 17, 1902, to Thomas B. and Lora (Dunklin) Parker. She moved to California as a teenager and graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She retired as a supervisor from the Ventura County Tax Collectors Office. In 1996 she moved to Prineville to be close to family. She moved to Redmond in 1999. Mrs. Fulkerson enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Survivors include her son Eugene Webb of Redmond and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and two siblings. Graveside Services were scheduled for today in Redmond. Sharon Elaine Gatlin Sharon Elaine Gatlin of Prineville died on Mon. Oct 9, 2000 at her home due to cancer. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Gatlin was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Portland to Quintine and Irene (Rawson) Smart. She graduated from Franklin High School in Portland in 1961. After graduation, she attended Texas Christian University for a year. She then transferred to San Francisco State where she earned a bachelors degree in nursing. She met Bob Gatlin at Suttle Lake in the simmer of 1959. The couple later married in Portland in 1963. Having lived in Prineville for 21 years, she worked as a registered nurse for the health department and for the Crook County School District. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing and hand crafts. Survivors include her husband Bob Gatlin of Prineville: daughter, Cynthia Phothong of Boise, Ida. Three grandchildren: mother, Irene Smart of Portland: uncle, Bob Rawson of Portland and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were scheduled for today at 4 PM at the Heritage Chapel of the Prineville Funeral Home. Cremation will be held at the Prineville Heritage Crematory under the direction of the Prineville Funeral Home. Internment will follow at a later date at the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Velma Gilchrist Velma Gilchrist passed away November 5 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Born in Laurel County, Kentucky in 1918, Velma was one of ten children, in a family that included three set of twins. She moved to Prineville, Oregon in 1940 and soon after married Howard Gilchrist, a general contractor who built many homes, churches and commercial buildings in Central Oregon. She spent her life as a homemaker and avid gardener, tending to her home in Prineville for more than 50 years before moving to Lake Oswego to live with her daughter after Howard's death in 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie, two sisters, Bicky Kerth of London, Kentucky and Louise Parman of Melbourne, Florida, a brother, Don House of Corbin, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. At her request, no services will be held. The family asks that remembrances be made in Velma's honor to The Portland Memory Garden, a place of respite for those suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. After moving to Portland, Velma enjoyed spending time there tending the garden as a volunteer. Donations can be made out to the garden and sent to 9027 NW Bartholomew, Portland, OR 97229.

Robert Duane Godat Central Oregonian Tuesday, January 28, 2020 Photo is Here September 5, 1936 ~ January 25, 2020 Robert Duane Godat Robert passed peacefully Jan. 25, 2020 surrounded by a large party of extended family, laughing and sharing stories he would have loved. Robert was born in Howell County, Missouri, to Edna and Harold Godat on Sept. 5, 1936. There will be Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Viewing Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 from 4-6 p.m. in the Prineville Funeral Home Heritage Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prineville. Interment will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville. The family travelled to and settled in the Columbia River Gorge in the summer of 1952. Robert proclaimed the Gorge to be the most beautiful place he had ever laid eyes on. They settled in the small community of Bridal Veil, Oregon. A young Robert worked as a hand on a local dairy farm, for the railroad, historic Multnomah Falls Lodge and the Bridal Veil Lumber Mill. He met and married his wife Lola Bixler in nearby Corbett, Oregon, where they made their home. A week before the wedding, Robert was laid off. Family expected them to postpone the wedding but they said they would live off their love. And live on love they did. They would celebrate 61 years of marriage in March. Together they raised Robert's younger brothers and sisters and their own five children in a very loud home with much love and laughter. With their doors always open to any family in need, a spare could usually be seen in the mix. Robert went to work in the maintenance department of the Corbett School District. He retired after 30 years of service in 1990. He and Lola then relocated to their second home in Prineville, Oregon. Robert loved sports. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball when his kids were young. As they grew and participated in other sports, he could be heard above the noisy crowd cheering them on. His hobbies included hunting trips with family, fishing and gardening, often with kids and grandkids, teaching them all the ins and outs. He always had a project rebuilding or fixing something. It made him so happy to pass those skills on.Robert loved collecting antique tools and farm implements. He spent many years perfecting the hunt and dickering on prices. Robert was most happy when surrounded by his family. He had a great sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. He was a great storyteller and would create vivid images of family past through those stories. It was important to Robert for his children to understand where the family came from and the values they stood for. Surviving him are his much-loved wife, Lola Bixler Godat; siblings, Linda Robison, Harold Godat, Sue Godat and Richard Godat; his children, Wade Godat, Brian Godat, Denise Godat Smith, Robert K. Godat and Trudy Godat; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Stephan Godat and Curtis Godat.

She was 78 years old. Mom was a faithful, loving mother of four, Denise, Victor, Susan, and Tina; grandmother of 10, step- grandmother of two, and great grandmother of seven. She had five siblings, Calvin, Janet, Norman, Ernie, and Eugene Morris. Momma was the sole provider for her children. She worked long hours trying her best to keep a roof over our heads, a meal on the table, and clothes on our backs. She fell in love with the Lord in the later part of her life and He became the Savior who wrapped her up in His arms and brought her peace from her toiling. She was a faithful friend to so many in her senior’s church group for years, enjoying many luncheons and birthday get-togethers, and mom was excited for every minute she spent with them. Momma enjoyed cooking shows, the arts (she loved collecting leaves from the yard and creating picture frame art), fixing things (which included her cars which broke down), and gardening. Mom enjoyed the simple things in life; the cat, which drank from her fountain in the morning, the leaves on the trees, the flowers which bloomed, and the snow which fell. Momma always spent long hours encouraging us on our journey in this life and giving us every ounce of advice she could give. She will be greatly missed yet we will hold her so closely in our hearts and, until we meet again momma, you have a mansion in glory awaiting lots of knick-knacks. We love you mom. A private family gathering will be held at a later date at the Oregon Coast.

Magdelena (Madeline) Lena Golwick Magdelena (Madeline) Lena Golwick of Prineville died Aug, 28, 2000 at Ochoco care Center. She was 84 years old. She was born in Summit, NJ, to Robert Theodore and Wilhemine (Sellmann) Miklaw on March 2, 1916. She married William Adam Golwick (previously know as Wasili Adam Skuropadski) in 1934. Mrs. Golwick moved from Ledgewood, NJ to Roseburg in 1975 and settled in Prineville in 1978. She attended several local churches and was a member of the Prineville Foursquare Church for many years. She later attended the Gethsemane Outreach Center and was a member of the Prineville Praise and Worship. Survivors include her sister, Barbara Hess of Stroudsburg, PA.: three daughters, Janet Lecher of Mayville, Tenn., Jo Ann Crisp of Dallas, Ore. and Francis Pradmore of Prineville: many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Henry David Green Henry "Bud" David Green of Prineville died at his home on Sat., Feb. 24, 2001. He was 77 years old. He was born on April 13, 1923, in Lake Halle, Wisconsin to George and Irene Preston Green. After attending school, he worked with his father cutting pulp in Wisconsin. He enlisted in the US Army in 1943 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. While in the Philippines with the 32nd Infantry Red Arrow Division he received a bronze star. He moved to Prineville in 1947 and worked for Alexander Yawkey Sawmill until 1948. He married Clara Young in Prineville in 1948. He worked for Ochoco Lumber and Red Lefley Logging until 1976 when he retired and they moved to Spray. In 1996 they moved back to Prineville to be near family. He enjoyed elk hunting, gardening, fishing, camping, watching the Blazers and spending time with family. Mr. Green is survived by his wife Clara of Prineville; children, Sherry and Billy Williams of Prineville, Janie and Don Hibbert of Prineville, Zeb and Kenny Jacobson of Post, Rocky and Gayle Green of Prineville, Rene and Dennis Helms of Prineville, Tuck and Tracy Green of Prineville, Susan McReynolds of Prineville; foster children, Robert Wells, Justin and Travis Marshall, and more; brother-in-law Robert Marsh of Grants Pass; grandchildren, Shiela Burkhart, Mike Williams, Diana Miller-Hudson, Don Hibbert Jr., Zion Jacobson, Janice Marcy, Shelley Fields, Dawn Williams, Shawn Holcomb, Quentin Helms, Jessica Green and Dustin Weatherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. Private cremation will be held. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Sat., March 3 upstairs at the Veterans Club, 405 N. Main St.. Marina Ynez Green Dec. 14, 1917 Feb. 6, 2001 Marina Ynez Green of Prineville died Tuesday. She was 83. Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 150 E. First St. in Prineville. Mrs. Green was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Manuel and Carmelita (Hames) Rios. She attended and graduated high school in Santa Barbara. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper in Santa Barbara for several years. She married John Green on Nov. 24, 1938, in Santa Barbara. They moved to Los Angeles in 1966, where she continued her bookkeeping career. She returned to Santa Barbara in 1973, then moved to John Day in 1975 until 1990 and to Prineville in 1997. Mrs. Green enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, cooking, going to the beach and being with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Patrice Merwin of Prineville and Denise Catherina of Las Vegas; one brother, Anthony Rios of Santa Barbara; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Gerald Evan Grissom Central Oregonian Monday, February 17, 2020 Photo is Here May 10, 1937 - February 14, 2020 Gerald Evan Grissom, known to all as Jerry, peacefully passed away in his home on Feb. 14, 2020, after 82 years of a life well lived. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bessie Grissom of Louisiana; brother, Sonny Grissom; three sisters, Faye Appling, Wanda Jennison and Sue Posey; and his sons, Rodney Grissom and Brian Grissom. Jerry was born May 10, 1937, in Bend, Oregon, graduating from Bend High School class of 1956. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy prior to his graduation, proudly serving on three naval ships, the USS F.D. Roosevelt (CVA-42), USS Ranger (CVA-61) and USS Zalima (AF-49) before being honorably discharged in November 1960. He returned to Bend after his military experience, living in Hillsboro, Oregon, and Wasilla, Alaska, before moving back to Central Oregon and settling down in Prineville with his wife, Pat. There they lived for 22 years before his passing. Jerry was a proud member of the Band of Brothers of Prineville and enjoyed wearing his organizational hat and jacket everywhere he traveled inside and outside of Oregon. He never met anyone that he didn't know and quickly made friends everywhere he went. Jerry was an accomplished heavy equipment operator, as well as a much-appreciated DIY mechanic and craftsman willing to help anyone that needed it. He is survived by his spouse of nearly 42 years, Patsy Grissom; sons, Robert Haldy, Terry Haldy and Ross Haldy; and daughter, Jerris Grissom; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing for neighbors and friends will be done at the Prineville Funeral Home from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, with a light reception following at their home. A post-cremation memorial will be conducted at the Willamette National Cemetery located at 11800 SE Mount Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, OR 97086 at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020.

Fern Lillian Gust from Tuesday, August 22 Central Oregonian Fern Lillian Gust of Dexter died on Friday, August 18. She was 82 years old. Mrs. Gust was born in Amery, Wis. on August 30, 1917, the daughter of Eddie and Petra Johnson. One June 5, 1938, she married Lorne Gust in Amery, Wis.. She spent her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and fishing. She was involved in a variety of church activities at the New Life Lutheran Church in Florence. Prior to living in Dexter she was a long time Central Oregon resident having made her home in the Florence area. Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis McAdoo of Veneta, Beverly Hunt of Florence and Barbara Gust of Creswell; her sons, Orville Gust of Forest Grove, Robert Gust of Yreka, Cal.. and Roy Gust of Corvallis; her brother Perry Johnson of Dresser, Wis.; her sisters, Elsie Anderson of Maplewood, Minn., Ilene of Minneapolis and Joyce Olson of New Richmond , Wis.; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999. Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of choice. The funeral was held Saturday, August 19 at the Musgrove Family Mortuary. A committal followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Margaret G. Hackleman Margaret G. Hackleman died Oct. 17 , 2000 at a care facility in Bend. She was 94 years old. She was born Dec. 16, 1905 to James and Mary Coffelt. Mrs. Hackleman attended school in Crook County, graduating in 1924. She later taught school in Barnes for several years. She married Frank Hackleman in 1928. She and her husband owned a ranch in Prineville which she sold prior to moving to Terrebone in 1973. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Crook County Cattlewomen of Prineville. She is survived by daughters, Betty Wilson of MT, LaVonne Ritches of Burns: sisters, Hazel Spence and Marie Cordin of Sutherlin: seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband and two brothers. Graveside services were scheduled for Sat. Oct, 21 at 11 AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Bend. Janet Colleen Halsey anet Colleen Halsey died Oct. 6, 2000 in Redmond of natural causes. She was 64 years old. She was born Aug. 15, 1936 in Portland. She attended first through 10th grade in Fossil, then moved to Prineville where she graduated from Crook County High School and where she met her husband, Kenneth. She worked at the rook County Nursing Home as a Nurses aid untill 1984 and moved to the Dalles a year later. In 1986 she moved back to Redmond. Mrs. Halsey enjoyed canning food, camping and spending time with her animals. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. She is survived by son Philip Halsey of Redmond: granddaughter Dawsena Halsey of Prineville: brothers, Ronnie Gabrielson Salem, Bobbie Gabrielson of Idaho, Donnie Gabrielson of Portland: and sister, Darlene Thompson of Klamath Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth. Services are scheduled for Sat., Oct. 14 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Redmond beginning at 2PM . Kenneth George Halsey From Tuesday, September 5, 2000 Central Oregonian Kenneth George Halsey of Redmond died of natural causes on Tues., Aug. 29 2000. He was 63 years old Mr. Halsey was born Feb. 9 1937 in Union, to Harry and Hazel (Henley) Halsey. When he was 6 years old the family moved to Crook County where he graduated from High school. He married Janet Beeson in 1960 and the couple later moved to Redmond in 1986. Mr. Halsey worked at Wagner's Supermarket in Prineville and in Redmond. He was self employed and owned his own business, K&H and son Janitorial Service, which he operated untill recently. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness faith. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife Janet of Redmond; son Phillip Halsey of Redmond; brothers, Steve and Jim Halsey of Prineville, Bill Halsey of LaGrande and Jack Halsey of Pendelton. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Redmond. Mrs. Hamilton was born to Thad and Edith Fern Compelube in McCallister, Okla., on March 15, 1932. Mrs. Hamilton was employed as a maid in hotels. She enjoyed Indian artwork, flowers, cooking and collecting family pictures. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret DeGarlais of Prineville; two sons, Norman Zaack of Fresno, Calif., and Gene Zack of Prineville; her mother, Edith DeGarlais of Prineville; one brother, Frank Compelube of Fresno; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Janice (Caudle) Hamre Former Prineville resident, Mary Janice (Caudle) Hamre died on Tues., Feb. 20 in Randle, Washington. She was 64 years old. She was born Sept. 4, 1936 in Fort Smith, Ark. to Don and Opal (Hight) Caudle. The family moved to Prineville where she attended schools, graduating from Crook County High in 1954. She married Burch Allen Hamre in 1959 and they moved to Randle, Wash. in 1965. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 14 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and puzzles and attending sporting events to watch her grandchildren play. Survivors include her daughter Kim Toups of Randle; sons, Randy of Chehalis and Allan of Randle; brother, Richard Caudle of Prineville and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.

Freddie Richard 'Rick' Hanes Created on Thursday, 28 August 2014 13:42 Central Oregonian February 4, 1959 ~ August 16, 2014 Freddie Richard “Rick” Hanes, 55, a resident of Prineville, passed away on Aug. 16, in Prineville. Mr. Hanes was born Feb. 4, 1959, to Chester and Fern (Grantham) Hanes in Prineville. Rick grew up and spent his childhood in Prineville, graduating from Crook County High School in 1977. He met and married Rebecca D. (Hayes) Hanes in 1983 and they had two children while living in Prineville. He worked for Hudspeth Pine Logging from 1977 until 1980. He then went to work for B&S Logging from 1981 until 2011. He recently went back to work for Kriege Logging. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, movies, but most of all spending time with his family and his grandsons, Hunter and Finn. Rick is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hanes; daughter, Angie (Hanes) Friesen and son-in-law Michael Friesen; son, Wade Hanes both of Prineville; two grandchildren, Hunter and Finn Friesen; brother, LeRoy Hanes, Dean Hanes both of Prineville, and Larry Hanes of Falcon, Colo.; sister, Ruby Williams of Prineville; eight nieces, five nephews, and numerous grandnieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and two nephews. Velma June Hanson Velma June Hanson of Prineville died at St. Charles Medical Center on Oct. 6, 2000. She was 71 years old. She was born on June 5, 1929, to Alfred and Hattie Best in Dear Park, WA. She attended school in Dayville and Klamath Falls. Following High School she married Fred Hanson on May 9, 1948. The couple moved to Fox Valley where they owned and operated a cattle ranch untill 1960 when they purchased a ranch in Mitchell. They also owned ranches in Unity and John Day. The family moved to Prineville in 1985 while continuing ti run their ranches. Mrs. Hanson enjoyed ceramics, flower gardening, reading, crocheting, driving through the forest and spending time with family. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Prineville and was active in the Mitchell Assembly of God Church previously. Survivors include her husband Fred Hanson of Prineville: sons Wayne and Brenda Lee Hanson of Prineville, Jeff and Brenda Kay Hanson of Buhl ID.: daughters, Marla and Bill Nash of Beaverton and Sue and Don Page of Prineville: brother Carroll and Pat Best of Spanaway, WA : mother Hattie Williams of Prineville: 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces , nephew, aunts and uncles. Thomas Dow Harsch Thomas Dow Harsch of Arizona died during the week of October 9, 2000, he was 33 years old. He was born on June 12, 1967, to Kenneth and Dolly (Riddle) Harsch in San Bernidino CA. He attended Indio High School in California. After graduating from high school he spent 10 years in the Unites States Army receiving and Honorable Discharge in 1995 and attaining the rank of Corporal. After military service, he worked with his brothers as a carpenter. He lived in Eugene, Phoenix, AZ. And most currently in Prineville. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his brothers Mike and Danielle Harsch of Prineville, Gary and Jocelyne Harsch of Blaine, WA: sister, DeeDee and d John Paul Brownlow of FT Worth, TX and nephew Max Harsche of Prineville. Eldon was born on Dec. 16, 1930 in North Bend. Eldon and his father Adolphus Hayes were well known farmers in Central Oregon who grew and shipped the first strawberries via plane to Hawaii in 1943. Eldon was 13 years of age at this time. Eldon Continued to work and receive his education at Lone Pine Grade School and Crook County High School. After marrying “The love of his life”, in 1949, Bonnie Lou Davis, the two continued to farm in Central Oregon. In 1952 Eldon worked for Hudspeth Land & Livestock as a ranch foreman in farm management. In 1959 Eldon purchased Hayes Texaco in Prineville and owned and operated it until 1967, when he went to work for Boston Cattle Company, which was the largest land holding company at that time. Boston utilized Eldon’s keen skills in farming and ranching consisting of the restructuring the Allen Creek reservoir and developing Big Summit Prairie. In 1982 Eldon worked for Brooks Resources and ended his working career with Interior Elevators, Madras in 1985. Eldon’s greatest passion was spending time hunting, fishing and being outdoors with his family. Eldon is still listed in the Boone and Crocket record book for an outstanding Antelope score. Other achievements Eldon pursued were Chairman of the Democratic Committee in Central Oregon in 1960, President of the 4H Leader’s Association as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Vocational Agriculture Department in Crook County. Eldon is survived by his wife of 65 years Bonnie Hayes; son, Dennis Hayes; daughter In law, Angie Hayes; daughter, Sharon Apperson; son In law, Bill Apperson; as well as four grandchildren, Kevin, Cory, Lyndsay, and Ali; eight great grand Children, Allexa, Brandon, Chase, Baylee, Dylan, Logyn, Peyton, and Hudson. Additional survivors are brother, Jerry Hayes; sisters, Kate Howe, Jean Endicott, Marlene Evans, Nancy Reynolds, and Susan Chapman; and many brother and sister in laws. Eldon will be greatly missed by his family and who are grateful for the values and love he shared. Graveside services will be held at Juniper Haven Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28. She was the youngest of three girls and spent her childhood in Sweet Home where she graduated from High School in 1971. She attended Lassen Community College in Susanville, Calif., where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business. She spent over 30 years as a Real Estate Broker in Central Oregon, developed commercial property, and had various entrepreneurial endeavors, including Body and Soul Spa in Prineville. She married Chuck Fitzimons and together had one son, Tyler Fitzsimons. She later married Greg Heyne and had another son, Marshall Heyne. She was a companion to Bump Stafford for nearly 15 years. She was well known and liked by everyone who knew her; she was generous and giving person that helped many people who were less fortunate than she. She will be remembered for her selflessness, friendly smile, and love of others. She is survived by her sons, Tyler Fitzsimons and Marshall Heyne; grandson, Coleman Heyne; sisters, Kelly Horton and Connie Robinson; and brother-in-law, Pat Horton. A private celebration of life for the family will be held at a future date.

Ann Hoberg Ann Margaret (Jochumsen) Hoberg passed away October 19, 2008 in Prineville, Oregon. She was 73 years old. Ann's hobbies consisted of gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting, cross stitching and reading. Ann loved her cats and most of all loved spending time with her family. Ann was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Redmond, Oregon and a member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary in Prineville, Oregon. She is survived by her husband Paul Hoberg of Prineville, Oregon; son James C. Wright of Franklin Park, IL.; daughter Cindy (Bryan) Scholz of Terrebonne, Oregon; her grandchildren Dan Scholz; Grant Scholz and Samantha Scholz of Terrebonne, Oregon. Richard Ernest Holgate Richard E. Holgate passed away on December 10, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Idaho Falls, Idaho at the age of 78 years. He was born on November 28, 1930 in Terrebonne, Oregon at home to Norman Ray Holgate and Lucille Margaret Wilson. He was the fifth of seven children. He married Darlene Charmene Chadwick in Big Piney, Wyoming on June 29, 1956. They had three children; Robert, Danny and Georgie. Richard served in the United States Air Force on a refueling aircraft during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masonic Lodge. He was active in the Shriners, and Commandry. Dick was a fishing enthusiast and enjoyed traveling during the winter months to the desert southwest. In his earlier days, he raced snowmobiles. He referred to his loved ones and close friends as "Fella". It was a loving habit which was returned by his family. While living near Yuma, Arizona, he learned the craft of creating hanging baskets from the dried roots of the desert evening primrose. He is survived by two sons, Robert and Danny, daughter-in-law Julie, grandsons Jared and Bryan, and close companion, Donna. Richard was preceded in death by a son, Georgie Lee, his wife, Darlene, brothers Fred, Walt and Bobby, and a sister, Patricia. The funeral service was held in Big Piney, Wyoming at the Community Congregational Church. A graveyard service with Honor Guard provided by the local VFW chapter followed the funeral at Plainview Cemetery.

Mildred Ernestine (Jones) Hoskinson Aug. 4, 1901 - Jan. 9, 2001 Mildred Ernestine (Jones) Hoskinson of Prineville died Tuesday of natural causes. She was 99. Viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Prineville Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Juniper Haven Cemetery with the memorial service to follow at Prineville Funeral Home Heritage Chapel. Mrs. Hoskinson was born Aug. 4, 1901, in Ticonic, Iowa. She married Wilbert J. Hoskinson on March 8, 1922, in Clearwater, Neb. He died in 1956. They moved to Prineville in 1941 from Albion, Neb. Mrs. Hoskinson worked for the Old Ochoco Inn and also as a dispatcher at the Prineville Police Department. She retired in the early 1970s. She was an active member of the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekah Lodge in Prineville. Mrs. Hoskinson was an avid seamstress and enjoyed cooking. Survivors include five daughters, Vera Schnoor and Shirley Searey, both of Prineville, Mildred "Millie" Moeller of Albany, Jeral "Jerry" Bateman of Bend, and Jeaneane Wachs of Edmonds, Wash.; three sons, Boyd and Ronald, both of Prineville, and Wilburt "Billy" of Mollala; sister, Hilda Jones of Clearwater, Neb.; 33 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, three daughters, two grandchildren, parents, three brothers and three sisters. Photo is Here Donald Guy Houk was born in Redmond, Oregon, Deschutes County, Sept. 27, 1932, and passed away on Jan. 18, 2020. He was one of five children born to Bessie Elnorna Compton Houk, who was the daughter of Central Oregon's first sawmill operator, William Compton, and Nellie (Kinder) Crain Compton. Donald's maternal grandparents were early Oregon pioneers who later operated one of the first sawmills in Central Oregon. Donald Houk's father, Jacob Guy Houk of Lamonta, Oregon, married Donald's mother Bessie Elnora Compton Houk in 1917, which united another longtime Oregon pioneer family whose arrival in Oregon Territory preceded Oregon's statehood in 1859. Don had a passion for genealogy with over five decades of devoted research, which included thousands of hours adding continued branches to his lines. His work has been beneficial to family, friends and hundreds of historians. Mr. Houk's great-great-great-grandfather, Richard Miller of Silverton, Oregon, signed the Oregon Territory's Provisional Constitution. Donald was known for his love for his family and friends, that infectious smile, generosity, his kind and compassionate spirit, and kindness to everyone he encountered, as he never met a stranger. Donald moved to Tokyo in 1977 while transferring from Union Pacific Railroad to K Line America, where he was still employed. Donald was a lifetime member of Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers, Kiwanis Club, The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan (FCCJ), American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, avid involvement with Bowman Museum and numerous genealogy clubs. In his earlier years, he and his mother, Bessie, hosted several foreign exchange students from Germany and Mexico. He is survived by his adopted family in Tokyo, Sachiko Sano; grandson, Yuki Sano; granddaughter, Saori and her husband, Satoshi; and great-granddaughter, Sayuka, "His Little Princess"; several nieces and nephews, Gary Houk of Huntsville, Alabama; Belinda Houk Raymond of Huntsville, Alabama; Tom Partin of Portland, Oregon; Joyce Partin Houston of New Plymouth, Idaho; Karen Farquhar Gowdy of Redmond, Oregon; Linda Farquhar Minckler of Missoula, Montana; Mike Farquhar of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Guy and Bessie Elnora Compton Houk; adopted son, Ikko Sano; an infant bother, William Darrell Houk; sister, Irene May Houk Partin; brother, Leonard Brambal Houk; and sister, Patsy Lee Houk Farquhar. Reda Hughbanks Reda Ann Hughbanks, a Prineville resident died, of cancer at her home on Mill Creek, on Monday, October 24, 2005. She was 65 years old. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2005 at noon, at the First Baptist Church in Prineville, burial will be at 3 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Reverend Dale Smith will be officiating. Mrs. Hughbanks was born on July 29, 1940 in Prineville, Oregon, the daughter of Tom and Loereda (Boyd) Scott. She was raised and educated in Prineville, graduating from Crook County High School in 1958. She attended college in San Francisco, California and later became a dental assistant. She spent 20 years assisting different dentists, including working in the Oregon State Penitentiary dental section. In 1978 she married Charles Hughbanks in Salem, Oregon and they worked together in the insurance industry in Oregon, Wyoming and most recently Las Cruces, New Mexico. She moved back to Prineville in 2002 when her husband retired and together they purchased property on Mill Creek, east of Prineville. Mrs. Hughbanks was an avid golfer and is the past president of the Oakway Women)s Golf Association of Eugene, Oregon and a former officer for the New Mexico State Golf Course Women)s Association, Las Cruses, New Mexico. Mrs. Hughbanks enjoyed music and singing. She had many opportunities to share her Christian testimony in solo tributes in many different settings. She served as the director for church choirs and directed numerous cantatas and musicals. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Prineville, Ore. She enjoyed all of nature and loved to hunt and fish. Crafts and collecting of antiques were things she liked to do. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and a brother, Benny. Survivors include her husband, brother John Scott of Baker City, three children, Richard and his wife Eva Cadwallader, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shawna and her husband Bob Berry of Loon Lake, Washington, Keith and his wife Delores Cadwallader of Phoenix, Oregon, step-children Sabrina Tooley and her husband Jeff of Salem, Oregon, Shannon Ramsey of Salem, Oregon, and Charles Hughbanks of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Shelley Grimmett and her husband Bill of Salem, and Steven Hughbanks of Seattle, Washington, as well as 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be private and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Hubbard was born on March 6, 1937, in Birmingham, Ala., to Albert and Doris (Smith) Hubbard. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was married to Pauline Pratton on Oct. 24, 1964, in Concord, Calif. Mr. Hubbard worked as a meat cutter, retiring from Safeway in 1992. He belonged to the New Life Bible Chapel and loved to build things. He had lived in the Prineville area for 30 years. Survivors include: his wife, Pauline "Polly" Hubbard; son Timothy Roberts of Prineville; daughters Susan Hamon of Prineville, Teresa Podzemny of Amarillo and Kristion Hubbard, also of Amarillo, Texas; sister Gertrude Jones of Birmingham; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two step-sons. Deschutes Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.

Dr. E.O. Hyde Oldest Crook County Man Dead at Age 84 President at Annual Old Timers Banquest Day Previous. But a day after he had presided at the seventh annual banquet of the Crook County Old Timers club, of which he was president, Dr. E.O. Hyde, 84, pioneer central Oregon physician, died, Monday noon, at his home in Prineville. Death due to a heart attack, came suddenly to Dr. Hyde. But a few minutes before the attack he had been down town and had made purchases in local stores. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 p.m., from the Community Church. Dr. Hyde was born in Massachutsetts in August, 1984, and at the time of his death was the oldest man in Crook County and by virtue of hthis distinction he was elected president of the Old Timers club. On October 16, 1873 at Thamworth Iron Works, a small town in New Hampshire he claimed Miss Elizabeth Evans as his bride and on May 9 of the following year they came to Oregon, making their home at Albany. In 1877, having been admitted to the practice of medicine, he came to Prineville and spent a year in the practice of his profession. It was a wide-open frontier western town and in a big wooden building he found an office on what is now Third street. Above the office was a vast room that bore the imposing title of hotel. In it were 70 or more beds, one of which was assigned to the young doctor. He passed through many experiences typical of the frontier. One evening there was an altercation in the street. Darlene L. Jackson Darlene L. Jackson Of Powell Butte died Tues., Sept. 12 at Central Oregon District Hospital in Redmond. She was 77 years old. She Was born Aug. 12 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ault Lee and Hester Ellen (Byers) Moore, Sr. In 1941 she married Birt W. Jackson in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They lived for many years in Salem where she owned and operated "Dolly's Cut and Curl" beauty shop. In 1980 she and her husband moved to Powell Butte. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Survivors include her husband Birt of Powell Butte: daughters, Barbara Lannigan of Devine, Texas and Katheryn Borden of Bend: siblings, Helen Minyard of Salem, Ault Lee MooreJr., Sandy, Charles Eugene Moore of South Carolina, Edward Dwayne Moore of Salem, Gerald Theodore Moore of Silverton and Sharon Ellen Taylor of Salem: nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Ham was born in Richmond, Wheeler County, Oregon on September 17, 1922 to Caroline (Stout) and Martin Jackson. Ham married Treace Standifer in 1943 then later Divorced then he married Autumn Stace in 1992 in Mitchell, OR. and later divorced. He served in the U.S. Air Force in WWII as a navigator on B-24 liberators and flew 35 missions from England to Europe (Germany & France) with the 8th Air Force 453rd Bomb Group. Mr. Jackson was a Realtor and was a Broker/Owner for 30+ years of The Land Mart in Prineville, OR. and was an Associate Broker at Real Estate Of Oregon in Redmond retiring in 1995. Ham attended Oregon Agriculturel College (OSU) from 1940-1942 and Studied Civil Engineering . He also studied Business at Central Oregon Community College, General Education And Pilot Training at Utah State College and Navigation at the U.S. Army Air Cadet Corps. He enjoyed hunting on his ranch in Mitchell, The "Jackson Cattle- Ranch". He was appointed to Oregon Real Estate Board: The Metropolitan Land Use Committee, County Land Use Zoning: Central Oregon Board Of Realtors and was the General Manager of H & R Motors in Prineville and was a Squadron Navigator with the Eighth Air Force. Ham was a member of the Highland Baptist Church in Redmond, OR. He is survived by two sons, Gary and wife, Ann Jackson of Durango, Colorado and Monty and wife, Kathy Jackson of Santa Clara, California one sister, Dr. Elizabeth Carroll PhD of Mitchell, Oregon four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Melton Jackson Melton Jackson passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at his home in Mitchell, Ore. He was 76 years old. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 1 p.m. at his residence in Mitchell, Ore. Melton was born on November 2, 1928 to Sam and Polly (King) Jackson in Coleman County, Texas. He married Lois McKinney on June 14, 1975 in Bend, Ore. He attended school in Sonara, Texas. He then attended college at The Baptist Seminary in Riverside, Calif. Mr. Jackson did electrical work in Texas and Riverside, Calif., for 12 years. He was an electrical contractor in Texas, California and Bend, Ore., until his retirement in 1997. He trained and bred Morgan horses and did garden and orchard work. He has lived in Spray, Ore., since 1989. He loved his family, land and his animals. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, horses, music, "big oranges" and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Lois Jackson of Spray, Ore., daughters, Rickie Jo Joen and Jennifer Elaine Jackson of Bend, Ore., Cynthia Diane Jackson of Kona, Hawaii and son Melton (Jack) Jackson of Umatilla, Ore., step-daughter, Lori Cloninger Sweeney of Portland, Ore., and Tracie Bullis of Philipsburg, Pa., sisters Lela Hamner, Velma Mielke and Loreen Mulanox of San Angelo, Texas, and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mary Matheny Jahns From Tuesday, September 5, 2000 Central Oregonian Mary Matheny Jahns of Prineville died at her home on Fri., Sept 1, 2000. She was 83 years old. She was born Oct. 18, 1916 to Samual and Sally (Schaeffer) Matheny in Alpena, Mich. She graduated from high school in Tyler, Texas and entered nursing school shortly thereafter. She joined the Us Army in 1942 and continued her nursing education untill separating in 196. In 1948 she married Homer Jahns in Portland. The couple then moved to Prineville. Mrs. Jahns was a nurse for Dr. Wood and Dr. "A." Adkins for many years. She also served as a county health nurse before retiring. She enjoyed quilting and won several awards in the county and state fairs. She also won a high acclaim award in Portland. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and was a 4-h leader. Survivors include her son, William Jahns of Prineville and one daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. A private cremation was arranged by Whispering Pines Funeral Home. Charles Jeppsen Tues, Nov 30, 1982 Central Oregonian Prineville, OR Two Thanksgiving visitors died Thursday in a one-car crash off Lower Crooked River Road, according to Crook County sheriff's deputies. Deputies say Charles Boyde Jeppsen, 29, of West Covina, Calif., and Richard Myles Jeppson, 38, of Aumsville, OR., were visiting Charles' parents, Delwin and Maryann Jeppsen of Prineville, just before the 5:21 pm crash that took their lives. They were traveling west on the highway about five and a half miles west of town when their 1980 Chevrolet Camero plunged 45 feet down an embankment, according to deputies. Deputies say the car went around a curve and "at a high rate of speed the vehicle left the roadway ad became airborne." The car sailed in the air 70 feet before knocking out the top of a large juniper tree and eventually resting upright down the embankment, deputies say. Both men, the younger of which was driving, were thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies believe Richard was the uncle of Charles Jeppsen. The accident was reported by passing motorists who also witnessed the crash, deputies say. Obituary Charles Boyde Jeppsen Charles Boyde Jeppsen, a former resident of Prineville, died November 25 in an automobile accident on Lower Crooked River Road west of Prineville. He was 29. Funeral services were held yesterday (Monday) at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Prineville Funeral Home. Officiating at the services was Chaplain Elmer Banks of the American Legion. Private burial followed at the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Mr. Jeppsen was born August 21, 1953 in Astoria, the son of Delwin and Maryann Jeppsen. He attended Prineville schools and moved to Fairbanks Ala., during his junior year in high school, graduating from Lathrop High School at Fairbanks. He lived in Alaska for 10 ears prior to his move to California three years ago. On August 17, 1980, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Davis in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a resident of Azusa, Calif. Mr. Jeppsen was employed as a sand and gravel salesman for the past three years with the Paul Hurns Construction Company of California. His interests included boxing, wrestling, water and snow skiing, motorcycle riding and car racing. Survivors include: his wife, Patricia A. Jeppson of Azusa, Calif.; his parents, Delwin and Maryann Jeppsen of Prineville; a son Colin Jeppsen of Fairbanks, Alaska; a sister, Catherine Hurns of Glendora, Calif.; and a nephew, Stephen Hurns, also of Glendora. He also leaves numerous cousins. The Prineville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ernestine Jordan from Tuesday, August 22 Central Oregonian Prineville resident Ernestine Jordan died Sat., Aug. 19 at her daughters home in Prineville. She was 88 years old. She was born Sept, 8. 1911 to Ernest and Ivy (McKown) Seay in Oak Creek, Texas. She married Russell M. Jordan in 1928. The couple moved to Redmond from Bayard, New Mexico in 1945 and to Prineville from Lompoc, Calif. in 1971. She was an active member of the Prineville First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for most of her adult life. She was an avid Gardener who particularly enjoyed raising flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Merle and Don Childress of Prineville; son and daughter-in- law Russell and Marlene Jordan of Grass Valley, Calif.; sister, Cora Johnson of Fremont, Calif., six grandchildren two step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four siblings. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Prineville First Babtist Church with internment following at the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Pioneer Memorial Hospice, 1201 N. Elm, in Prineville or to the child Evangelism Fellowship in care of the Prineville First Baptist Church, 450 SE Fairview in Prineville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Prineville Funeral Home.

J William Jordan Central Oregonian Thursday, February 20, 2020 Photo is Here August 3, 1923 ~ February 15, 2020 J William Jordan passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at the age of 96. J was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Toppenish, Washington. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1940s while living in Medford, Oregon. He later joined the Navy June 29, 1942. After being discharged from the Navy in 1945, he came to Prineville to rejoin his family, and there he met Audrey Fay LeBlue. They were married May 26, 1946. Fay passed away in 2004, just short of their 60th wedding anniversary. J is survived by his daughters, JoAnne Perry and Darlene Anderson; four grandchildren and three great- granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one sister, Golda Rawlings, of Estacada, Oregon. J was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillie Jordan; four brothers and one sister; he also lost his two sons-in-law, Clinton Perry and Howard Anderson. J was a WW2 veteran and a member of the VFW and the Band of Brothers of Prineville. He was also a very active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Prineville and to the Band of Brothers, also of Prineville. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery with Military Honors. Following the graveside service, there will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Prineville, followed by a lunch reception.

Nola Kaufman Nola Amy Kaufman a Prineville resident passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at St. Charles Medical Center due to injuries in an auto accident. She was 81 years old. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, S.E. 2nd & Idlewood, Prineville, Oregon. Bishop John A. Morgan will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Nola was born in Rosemead, California on January 13, 1927 to Harry and Amy (Mader) Pierce. She graduated from Berkley High School and attended college for a short while. Nola married Ernest Kaufman on December 23, 1981 in Molalla, OR. She moved to Prineville in 1993 from Philomath, Oregon. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Montgomery Ward, Gerber Baby Foods, and several C.P.A. offices, U.S. Forest Service and The Boys and Girls Club. She was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Prineville 2nd ward in and worked in the family history center one day a week, taught relief society and always backed cookies for all to enjoy. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in various leagues, reading, crafts and crocheting, sewing, knitting making things out of basically nothing. She especially loved fishing. She will always be remembered as someone who saw the good in everyone and would always help anyone in need. She is survived by her children, daughter Maureen "Mo" and husband Curt Workman of Prineville, sons Steven and wife Elaine Noonan of Omaha, Neb. and Mark and wife Janie Noonan of Salem. OR. and Kent and wife Jewell Noonan of Ashland, OR., brothers Pete Pierce of Covina, CA. and Jim Pierce of Mt. Ranch, CA., sister Doris Hostetler of Hesperia, Ca. eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernie in 3-15-2008 and three brothers, and an infant son Michael. Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home. William D. (Duffy) Keller William D. (Duffy) Keller, a past Prineville resident, died at his Portland home of Pancreatic Cancer. He was 52 years old. He was born July 36, 1948, in San Francisco to William T. Keller and Mary Jean Dalashmutt. He moved to Prineville where he attended elementary through high school. He married his first whiff wile still in high school in Crook County. Mr. Keller enlisted in the Us marines in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1974. He worked odd jobs in Prineville prior to enlisting in the service. After he was discharged he attended COCC and went into the mechanics trade and after a couple years he started his own business. In 1992 he and his first wife divorced, and in 1994 he married Debra Collions. He moved to Portland where he worked in maintenance at the Columbia River Yacht Club untill the time of his death. His hobbies included camping, fishing, going to Detroit Lake and spending time with family. He is survived by his children, Nikki Keller of Prineville, Kristi Keller of Redmond, Kori of Portland: his first wife: two stepsons Ty Hutchinson of Portland and Justin Rule of Bend: mother, Mary Jean Wisdom: two brothers, Richard and Mike: sister, Sharon: six grandchildren, Justin, Kenny, Andrea, Marial, Brandon and Brianna. He Was preceded in death by his father, step father and daughter. Memorial services were held on Dec. 15 at deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend. Mary was a homemaker all of her life. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Prineville. Mary is survived by daughter Sharon Buckner of Union; son Michael Ladd of Mission, Texas; son Christopher Ladd of Surprise, Ariz; daughter Rebecca Bourland of Eorla, Ariz; son Philip Ladd of Redmond; daughter Debra Reyvanne of Battle Mountain, Nev; and daughter Miriam Nunez of Gresham. Also, 28 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Lloyd Eugene Lewis Nov. 28, 1915 - Jan. 30, 2001 Lloyd Eugene Lewis of Prineville died Monday of natural causes. He was 85. A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Prineville Community Church. A private burial will be at the Juniper Haven Cemetery. Mr. Lewis was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Percy, Ill., and moved out to the West in 1933 with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He married Shirley (Reed) Lewis March 17, 1939. She passed away in 1992. Mr. Lewis attended the Oregon Normal School and University of Oregon. He was a teacher and principal at Crook County Schools for 36 years and superintendent of schools for four years. He retired in 1980. Mr. Lewis was a member of the Prineville Community Church and served in several civic clubs. He was a charter member of the Prineville Kiwanis and helped start the club in 1947. He received the George F. Hixon Award in 1996 and the Cecil Sly Award in 1999. He was serving on the board for Crook County Cemetery Board at the time of his death. He enjoyed wood cutting, playing pinochle and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Marcia Rawls of Prineville; son, Robin of Chandler, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prineville Kiwanis Club or Ass. Scholarship Fund c/o Crook County High School. Evelyn Love Evelyn M. Love a Prineville resident passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008. She was 77 years old. Funeral Services will be held at Prineville Funeral Home, 199 N.E. 10th Street on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Del Towell will officiate. Burial will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Evelyn was born in Howard Ridge, Missouri on March 24, 1931 to Lou-Vinna (Carrol) and Terry Smith. She married John D. Love in Albany, Oregon on June 21, 1952. Evelyn was raised in Oklahoma and moved to California then to Oregon when she was 8 years old. She settled in Stayton, Or. After her marriage they lived in Bremerton, Washington where her husband served in the U.S. Navy. They lived in West Stayton, Turner, Aumsville then moved to Sunriver for 27 years. She moved to Prineville in 2005. Evelyn loved to fish with her husband also boating, camping and anything outdoors. She loved gardening and raised flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed westerns, traveling to the coast and south to Arizona and all over Oregon. She is survived by her husband, John D. Love of Prineville and three children, Annette M. Love of Sunriver, Amie M. and husband Jason Hamilton of LaPine and Juston Love of Portland, brother William Smith of LaPine, sister Dorothy Davenport of Turner, OR. Three grand children, three great grand children, three great great grand children, also by nine nieces and eleven nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother one sister and her parents. Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
