Report on Environmental, Social and Economic Impacts of Madan Bhandari Highway DECEMBER 17, 2019 NEFEJ Lalitpur Executive Summary The report of the eastern section of Madan Bhandari Highway was prepared on the basis of Hetauda-Sindhuli-Gaighat-Basaha-Chatara 371 km field study, discussion with the locals and the opinion of experts and reports. •During 2050's,Udaypur, Sindhuli and MakwanpurVillage Coordination Committee opened track and constructed 3 meters width road in their respective districts with an aim of linking inner Madhesh with their respective headquarters. In the background of the first Madhesh Movement, the road department started work on the concept of alternative roads. Initially, the double lane road was planned for an alternative highway of about 7 meters width. The construction of the four-lane highway under the plan of national pride began after the formation of a new government of the federal Nepal on the backdrop of the 2072 blockade and the Madhesh movement. The Construction of Highway was enunciated without the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment Report despite the fact that it required EIA before the implementation of the big physical plan of long-term importance. Only the paper works were done on the study and design of the alternative highway concept. The required reports and construction laws were abolished from the psychology that strong reporting like EIA could be a hindrance to the roads being constructed through sensitive terrain like Chure (Siwalik). • During the widening of the roads, 8 thousand 2 hundred and 55 different trees of community forest of Makwanpur, Sindhuli and Udaypur districtsare cut. -

Aims and Scope Armed Police Force Command and Staff College is established to enhance the professionalism of mid- level officers of Armed Police Force Nepal. Journal of APF Command and Staff College (JAPFSC) is an annual peer-reviewed journal launched by APF Command and Staff College, Kathmandu, Nepal since 2018. Journal is one of the most-important sources of producing and disseminating the knowledge to the related subjects. In order to be scientific, knowledge must be (1) systematic, (2) methodical,(3) general, and (4) critical. The journal will be an impetus for carrying recent theoretical, conceptual, methodological and new paradigms of security, development, and peace studies. The journal welcomes original, academic and research from multi- and interdisciplinary perspectives. Received 8 April, 2020; Accepted 19 August, 2020 Goat (Capra hircus) is one of the important sources of rural economy in Nepal. As various programs are aiming to enhance livelihood of rural denizens through goat promotion, it is therefore crucial to understand socio-economic determinants on decision to raise goats by rural households. So, this study was carried out in two, out of seven, local administrative units (Wards) of Marin rural municipality, Sindhuli using three stage sampling technique. A household survey using pretested questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample of 100 respondents of which 59% were females and 41% were males. Multiple linear regression analysis using Stata was performed to ascertain socio-economic determinants (sex, education, income, household size, farming experience (years), membership of saving and credit institution, off-farm activities involvement and land size) of goat raising. Results showed that household size had a positively significant relation (p<0.05) whereas farming experience (years) and off-farm activities involvement had a negatively significant relation (p<0.05) on goat raising. -

The main assumption in this article is that the more performance of local representatives as per their promise before elections under prevailing laws likely leads to more electoral accountability. To test this hypothesis, 455 questionnaires were collected from ordinary citizens and 28 interviews were taken with respective Rural Municipalities and Municipality’s chief, deputy chief, and an executive from Sindhuli and Surkhet district of Nepal. The result showed that the performance of Surkhet districts’ local governments have a better significant Keywords relationship with the electoral accountability index rather Sindhuli Election, electoral district. Despite this relationship, people were neither satisfied, nor accountability, unsatisfied with the performance of the local representatives. There performances, local bodies, are a lot of hindering factors associated with the performance of local Nepal representatives which include lack of financial
