Photo: Retrofitted beneficiary house at Tamakoshi RM, Virkot village, Dolakha. # Sindhuli District • Skills for Safe Reconstruction Project (SSRP) of Swiss Contact in Sindhuli district has conducted 7 day's skills upgrading training on earthquake resilient timber frame building construction techniques to 120 construction carpenters involved in the reconstruction works. The training was conducted in Kamalamai Municipality and Marin Rural Municipality comprising of 80 and 60 trainees respectively. SSRP developed 7 days training curriculum for carpentry training that incorporated structural principles as specified for earthquake resiliency and further approved by CLPIU. The need of this training was identified by SSRP in collaboration with National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Sindhuli. It was realized that house owners were facing problems to build timber houses for shortage of skilled workers and there were number of noncompliance issues. 13 June 2019 Page 3 of 24 District Report Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform, Nepal Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform • SERVE project conducted by Mercy Corps Nepal has been providing Socio Technical Support to the vulnerable groups of the vulnerable list provided by NRA. Out of 119 vulnerable group beneficiaries, others except 35 have completed the construction of house before the introduction of the SERVE Project. SERVE has been providing STA to the 35 Households among which 33 have completed their houses and remaining two are in the roof band and intermediate band level respectively. The Solution to the landless issues has been provided via a meeting conducted in the presence of Member of Parliament (Haribol Gajurel and Ganesh Pahadi), CDO (Janardan Gautam), DCC Chief (Shankar Raj Barma Tiwari), DCO (Dik Bahadur Karki) and Act. GMALI Chief (Surya Prakash Bista). The program was organized by GMALI.
