The interested unemployed youths/applicants may submit the duly filled up forms on or before 14th September’2020 in the office of the District Planning Officer, West Siang District, Aalo during office hours. The candidates have to appear before the District Level Screening Committee (DLSC) with Power Point Presentation (PPT) of their project proposals. The candidates should be a Residents of West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh and above the age of eighteen years having passed the final examination of Xth Standard. (Marjum Karga) DPO, for Deputy Commissioner West Siang District, Aalo Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY) Salient features: (a) To encourage unemployed youth and entrepreneurship and to gain access to low cost capital for entrepreneurship. (b) Provision of 40% front ended capital investment subsidy to the beneficiaries has been made who wish to set up small and medium enterprises with a loan from Rs.10.00 lakhs upto Rs. 50.00 lakhs of the project cost. (c) The loan component would be 30% to 50% of the project cost. The cost of land and building shall be excluded from the project cost. (d) Entrepreneurs would be required to contribute at least 10% to 30% of the project cost as their contribution. Preference will be given to those who contribute a greater proportion. (e) Women entrepreneurs will be additionally eligible for 5% interest subsidy annually provided the entrepreneur does not become Non-Performing Asset (NPA). Following Sectors covered under this scheme (i) Food- Processing units in Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors include packaging, cold chain, cold storage, milk processing etc. (ii) Eco- Tourism including Home Stays and Tour operators. (iii) Traditional Textile Weaving for Modernization of Traditional Looms and purchase of new looms to starts a new weaving units. (iv) To set up small scale manufacturing units/ bamboo processing units/service centres/diagnostic. Preference to be given to those unemployed youths having Degree/Diploma holders in Tourism & Hospitality, ITI or any other technical Degree/Diploma related to Fabrication, IT, Mobile repairing, Motor Garage etc. Preference will also be given to private Doctors for opening of Medical clinic and Diagnostic centers in Border CD, blocks. However, the clinical fees shall be fixed at reasonable rate. The objectives of the Centre include the creation of high-quality research infrastructure for students, researchers and faculty members, in addition to sponsoring and coordinating research on various developmental issues having policy implications at the regional and national level. Publishing working/policy papers on the research outcome of the Centre, monographs and edited volumes are the key activities of the Centre. The present working paper by Prof. Amitava Mitra, titled, ‘Challenges of Development in the Border Areas of Arunachal Pradesh: An Empirical Study’, is an output of a research project. It is sixth in the series of working paper published by the Centre for Development Studies. The working paper has explored the wide ranging inter-district disparities in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, in terms of availability of infrastructural facilities that are crucial for improving the economic condition of people in the state. The districts of the northern and eastern international border areas, with high mountains are less well serviced than the districts in the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh.

Ethnically, the Digaru Mishmi tribe (inhabitants) of the district adopted the traditional way of consuming these rich ethnobotanical resources to fulfill their daily nutrition & health care. These plants have traditionally occupied an important position in their socio-cultural, spiritual and health aspects of the rural tribal lives. So, the consumption of wild edible plants as a food source has been an integral part of the indigenous people’s culture. To get an insight into the Digaru Mishmi people’s way of lifestyle, the present study was conducted to explore, identify & document the ethno botany of the Digaru Mishmi people and to record their unique knowledge about wild edible plants.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH-AN OVERVIEW 1.1 Land and climate Arunachal Pradesh is a infrastructure deficient frontier state. Lying in the north-eastern tip of the Indian subcontinent it is bounded by long international borders of about 1628 Km with Bhutan to the west, China to the north, Myanmar to the east. It also shares interstate boundary with Assam and Nagaland in the south. With an area of 83,743 sq.km, it is the largest geographical entity in the whole of North-Eastern region. The State’s topography is predominantly hilly and it is traversed by many major rivers and their tributaries, all discharging into the Brahmaputra. About 82% of the geographical area of the state is under the cover of forests which support a diverse spectrum of flora and fauna. The state receives high precipitation with annual rainfall exceeding 2500 mm and substantial snow melt in the upper reaches. 1.2 People It is a Schedule Tribe majority state with ethnically diverse 25 major tribes. With total population of 1.10 million (as per the 2001 census) the density of population stands as 13.11 persons per sq.km, the thinnest in the country. Over 75% of the people live in villages which are widely scattered with many located in remote interiors close to the international borders.
