  • Takano Ryudai: Daily Photographs 1999-2021
PRESS RELEASE June 29, 2021 (revised on August 6, 2021)10 改訂] TAKANO RYUDAI: DAILY PHOTOGRAPHS 1999-2021 June 29‒September 23, 2021 T he National Museum of Art, Osaka 2018.11.14.#05, 2018 PRESS RELEASE TAKANO RYUDAI: DAILY PHOTOGRAPHS 1999-2021 TAKANO RYUDAI: DAILY PHOTOGRAPHS 1999-2021 Takano Ryudai (b. 1963) is widely recognized as a photographer who deals with the themes of gender and sexuality. In the 2005 photo book IN MY ROOM, for which he received the Kimura Ihei Photo Award, Takano set out to visualize the ambiguous zone that lies between binary notions of human sexuality such as woman and man, homosexual and heterosexual. At the same time, while making it a rule to take pictures every day without fail since 1998, Takano has undertaken a variety of experiments, and repeatedly examined institutionalized views, and the characteristics and limitations of the photographic medium. The project, called Daily Photographs, remains ongoing. In this exhibition, Takano’s first major solo exhibition at a museum, approximately 130 of the artist’s works will be presented chronologically. Along with Daily Photographs, which serves as the foundation for Takano’s practice, the exhibition will include the gender- and sexuality-themed works that won him prominence; Kasubaba, which focuses on uniquely Japanese chaotic cityscapes; Tokyo Tower, which makes use of fixed-point observation; and the shadow pieces, which Takano has devoted himself to since the Great East Japan Earthquake. Join us as we retrace the actual images and reflect on the changing thoughts of Takano Ryudai, one of the leading photographers of his generation.

  • Daibiru Corporation Corporate Profile
CORPORATE PROFILE 010_0361932262708.indd 2 2015/07/16 20:33:40 Corporate History Success of Daibiru indicates a new age of building construction. In 1925, two years after its foundation, Daibiru constructed “Daibiru Building,” one of the major office buildings in western Japan in expectation of future concentration of businesses in cities. In 1927, construction of “Hibiya Daibiru Building” in Hibiya, Tokyo, was completed. The eight-story “Hibiya Daibiru Building” adopted the “core system” used for skyscrapers in New York. Numerous architects were impressed by Hibiya Daibiru Building’s elegant exterior, which was the crystallization of Daibiru’s passion for urban development. With the core system, common areas of a building, such as elevators, corridors, and hot and cold water supply facilities, are located at the center of the building. Its logicality and cost efficiency contributed to the progress in building concepts and was highly regarded by the Architectural Institute of Japan. The history of the Japanese office buildings is synonymous with the history of Daibiru, an enterprise that responds to the needs of the era.
