Success of Daibiru indicates a new age of building construction.

In 1925, two years after its foundation, Daibiru constructed “Daibiru Building,” one of the major office buildings in western in expectation of future concentration of businesses in cities. In 1927, construction of “ Daibiru Building” in Hibiya, , was completed. The eight-story “Hibiya Daibiru Building” adopted the “core system” used for skyscrapers in New York. Numerous architects were impressed by Hibiya Daibiru Building’s elegant exterior, which was the crystallization of Daibiru’s passion for urban development. With the core system, common areas of a building, such as elevators, corridors, and hot and cold water supply facilities, are located at the center of the building. Its logicality and cost efficiency contributed to the progress in building concepts and was highly regarded by the Architectural Institute of Japan. The history of the Japanese office buildings is synonymous with the history of Daibiru, an enterprise that responds to the needs of the era.

The origins of present-day Daibiru Group trace back to October 1923, one month after the Great Kanto Earthquake. In the aftermath of the disaster, while construction methods for buildings were revised in Japan, we aimed to establish a new business based on the “leasing of office buildings.” Since our founding, Daibiru has continued to supply society with office buildings geared to the needs of the era, while standing the test of time. We have stood firm to our stance as a company with a high level of integrity and transparency as we steadily accumulated a proven track record. It is the goal of the Daibiru Group to raise the valuation of the Group as a whole by maintaining a stable financial composition, fulfilling our social responsibility and winning long-term trust. We will pursue sustainable growth by maintaining long-term stable management and a sound financial composition, as we work to create a society and environment from a long-term perspective. The Daibiru Group strives to earn trust through the responsible operation and management of high quality office environments. We will provide our tenants with more comfortable Representative Director spaces that offer greater security and safety. It is not simply a President matter of pursuing profit, but is rather a question of what we can Chief Executive Officer bequeath to the future: things demanded by the times, and things Takehiko Yamamoto that retain their value even when times change. We will provide places where people can live vibrant lifestyles, and where they can work and relax. Thus, we will contribute to the creation of attractive cities that inspire people. In addition, we are working on development that takes into account reduction of the environmental burden so as to contribute to environmentally friendly urban planning where cities and the nature are in harmony and people can coexist with the natural environment. We will pass this precious DNA onto the next generation. In all our endeavors devoted to creation of buildings for the new era, we will greatly appreciate your continued support.

Recognizing that the “Group Code of Conduct” and these ten principles share a common philosophy, we will pursue our CSR activities even more vigorously through participation in the “UN Global Compact.”

The UN Global Compact’s ten principles

Human Rights Principle 1 Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and Principle 2 make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses. Labour Principle 3 Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; Principle 4 the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour; Principle 5 the effective abolition of child labour; and Principle 6 the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
