Having another two West Torrens juniors continue to push on (or back) into higher levels of cricket in Spencer Johnson (Redbacks) & Bailey Capel (SA 2nd XI) and the recruitment and performances of Ryan Gibson were other sources of great joy for all involved. It was also fantastic to see some players score their first tons for the club and the overall improvement from many of our players across the board was pleasing. We reached 6 Semi Finals in various Grades/Competitions but alas could not go any further. There were promising signs from the Women’s 2nd grade team where there were some brilliant performances. It was also very pleasing to see several of the girls push up and contribute at 1st Grade level in the absence of some of our more seasoned players. However, for us to continue to push forward as a club we need to implore each member of each of the playing groups to consider how they can improve over the off season and try and do everything possible to come back at the start of the next season ready to perform at a higher level. Hags & Manning and their coaching groups are willing and able to help anyone who has higher aspirations and traditionally winter is when they can do some of their best work. The board has implemented several new initiatives recently, the first was to appoint a Number One Ticketholder. This honour was bestowed upon Eagle great Brian Isaac who accepted the honour while enjoying the company of other fantastic Eagles at the recent Golden Eagles luncheon at the Lockleys Hotel. It was great timing with the annual Quinn-Isaac Cup being retained the following weekend against East Torrens. That draw ensured that the Men’s 1st team wrapped up a finals berth along with the Men’s & Women’s 2nd Grade teams won their games in the final rounds to cement their positions. On top of the Number One Ticket Holder, and through conversations with some prominent club officials involved with other sports we developed an “official Ambassadors” program as a way that we could get past players & officials to stay involved at the club that they represented so proudly in previous years. Ambassador programs have played an important role in advancing other clubs over the years and the support provided in advocating, promoting, and even advising can never be underestimated. While there is no specific role or duty, there are numerous areas where they can really help the club. We asked a fine group of people to help, the names include Ian Chappell, Jeff Crowe, Lindsay Head, Matthew Richardson, Tim Ford, Mickey Dwyer, Andy Capel, Jack Lukosius, Matty Broadbent, John Lynch. Ian Ravenscroft, Peter George, Leigh Drennan, Adam Crosthwaite, and Josh Dascombe. We have, very pleasingly, had responses in the affirmative for the bulk of them and are in the process of announcing the full list via our Social Media platforms. The club is in the process of establishing another new initiative with our coaching panel, due to our very well attended Junior Trials, we have developed a School Holiday Clinic, headed up by head coach Mark Harrity & Brenton Woolford.
