GUIDED TOURS FOR GROUPS 2019

One of the beauties of a visit to Holker Hall is the freedom to explore the Hall and Gardens at your own pace without the restrictions of ropes and barriers, with guides always on hand to offer assistance or information when desired.

However, for those groups who want more structure, have a particular interest or want to discover a different side to Holker, we offer a whole range of fascinating guided tours.

There is a small charge of £3.00 per person for each tour in addition to the admission rate and each tour lasts approximately one hour.

The minimum number for each tour is 10 and all tours must be booked in advance.

Tour 1: Hall Tour This fascinating tour focuses on the history of the Preston, Lowther & Cavendish families who have lived in, and developed and cherished, the Hall and Estate from the beginning of the 17th century to the present day.

Tour 2: ‘Taster Tour’ The taster tour combines a ½ hour tour of the Hall with a ½ hour tour of the Gardens, to give a flavour of the many areas to be explored both inside and outside the Hall

Tour 3: Garden Tour Discover the history and development of the Gardens and learn about the wonderful trees plants and flowers. Your guide will adapt the tour according to the season so that you can experience the best seasonal colours, textures and scents.

Tour 4: Discovery Parkland Walk to the Holker Ice House Take a discovery walk through the Parkland, looking at the nature and over four centuries of history, to visit the unique 18th Century Holker Ice House and hear it’s amazing “whispering gallery” effect.

SENSORY TOURS We are happy to arrange sensory tours of the Hall or Gardens for groups with hearing or visual impairments.

GROUP MENUS 2019 All of our menus are made using freshly prepared local ingredients. Our Scones and Cake are prepared daily. Our prices are based on groups of 20 or more and includes a private area of our restaurant

Menu 1: Morning Coffee - Freshly brewed coffee or Lakeland Tea served with homemade Shortbread and Chocolate Chip Cookies - £3.50pp

Menu 2: Breakfast Barms – Cumberland Sausage or grilled back bacon in fresh baked barmcakes, served with Freshly brewed coffee or Lakeland Tea - £4.95pp

Menu 3: Holker Cream Tea - Homemade scone with whipped fresh cream and preserve and a pot of freshly brewed tea or Holker blend coffee £4.25pp

Menu 5: Holker Cold Buffet Lunch – Served Buffet Style with a Freshly brewed Lakeland tea and coffee - £16.95

Menu 7: 2 or 3 course lunch - 2 courses £16.95pp & 3 courses £19.95pp Choose your starter, main and dessert from the choices below – Please note the same dish must be chosen for the whole group with the exception of customers requiring a Vegetarian option. Please note both the 2 and 3 course lunch includes Lakeland tea or Holker blend coffee.
