5 Bryan Blanks, Director & Choreographer

Bryan Blanks is the Assistant Director/Education Outreach for the Peoria Peoria Area Performing Arts Studio. He also teaches theatre during the day and is the Drama Director at Pleasant Valley Intermediate. Prior to his work with PAPAS and teaching theatre, Bryan served as a Youth Educational Coordinator for the BHS Regional Office of Education and Illinois Central College. Bryan is a board member for the GMB Arts in Education Spring Celebration and a proud member of Corn Stock and Peoria Players Theatre. This is Bryan’s 13th year as director of the St. Vincent dePaul School musical.

“I had no idea when I was choreographing Step In Time for Mary Poppins in March of 2020, that it would be the last time I would see the kids in person until the next school year. The show obviously came to an early close before production, however we did our opening night tradition via zoom last year. It was great to see the kids, Mrs. Santen and Mrs. Clubb, but we all couldn’t wait to get back to doing a show in person. I wasn’t certain what this school year would bring, but we were determined to make a production happen if at all possible. I thank Mrs. Santen, Father Willard, Mrs. Buck, Mrs. Myers and the parents for being flexible during this unique approach to a musical production for SVdP. I also can’t go without thanking Mrs. Clubb for as always, going above and beyond to make this program possible. If anything, this challenging time has taught us all to pivot and stretch our creativity. The special thing about this year is this production unique to SVdP. More than ever, I’m so thankful to be working with these students. I chose the title “Looking Back and Moving Forward” because it is the motto of the SVdP theatre program in a way. We always cherish past memories, but we challenge ourselves to do things differently and grow as an educational theatre program. As always, I’d like to dedicate this production to Carol Wake. Thank you for inviting me on your creative journey 13 years ago.”

6 Froncie Clubb, Music Director

Froncie Clubb was a teacher at SVdP for 20 years, and after retiring, said yes to Bryan when he asked her to be the Music Director for Joseph in 2016. Music has always been a part of her life since being exposed to a high school theater program much like we have at St. Vincent de Paul. That experience carried on a love of singing throughout college and beyond singing in church for many weddings, funerals, and the church choir. None the less, working with the St. Vincent theater program is especially close to her heart to watch the talents of Bryan Blanks work his magic and carry on the legacy of our dear friend Carol Wake.

“I am so proud of the hard work the students have put into this show under the circumstances. What a great group of kids! It is such a joy to once again see the sparkle in their eyes as they bring you another way to celebrate music from the past and moving forward.”
