A Disney Spectacular a Disney Spectacular A DISNEY SPECTACULARA DISNEY SPECTACULAR Summer Stage 2012 Inspired by and written by Kevin Dietzler (As the Summer Stage Song ends, a family dinner table and four chairs are brought out and placed stage right) 1…2…3…shh! (Lights up as we see MOTHER, FATHER, and RUTH seated at the table. It is 1912 and WALT’s 10th birthday. There is a cake, table settings and one present wrapped in brown paper and tied up in yellow string) MOTHER (rising from the table) I wonder what’s taking him so long? Walt? Walter E. Disney, are you coming? It’s time to sing. FATHER Oh, Mother, he’s just excited. Why, you could never get me to sit still when it was my special day. RUTH He’s always on another one of his adventures. MOTHER That boy has got an imagination like no other. WALT (running in) Look out! RUTH Look out for what? WALT The dragon! FATHER A dragon? Where? WALT I was on my way to rescue the sleeping princess from her tower when suddenly the evil witch turned into a fire-breathing dragon. MOTHER Oh, did she? - 1 - WALT Uh-huh! And I’m going to use this magical sword I pulled from a stone to slay the dragon and save the princess. MOTHER Alright there, Prince Charming, but the princess will have to wait. WALT Awww. Why? MOTHER Because there are no swords allowed at the dinner table. Besides, it’s time for us to sing. FATHER, MOTHER, RUTH HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR WALTER! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! FATHER Now make a wish! (WALT pauses then blows out the candles) MOTHER I think your sister has one more present to give you. RUTH Here ya go, Walt. Happy Birthday! (RUTH hands WALT the package which he hurriedly opens to reveal a new drawing pad and pencil) WALT Whoah!! MOTHER We all thought you could take some of your wild adventures and turn them into characters in this book. WALT This is the best present ever! Oh, thank you Mother, thank you Father! FATHER Don’t forget your sister! WALT Thank you, Ruth! Can I go draw right now? MOTHER Don’t you want any cake? - 2 - FATHER Why don’t we save you a piece and you can have it when you’re ready. (WALT runs stage left, opens the book, and begins to draw. The family gets up from the table) CUE MUSIC: “When You Wish Upon a Star” (instrumental) & “A Dream is a Wish” FATHER (to the audience) Our son Walt Disney was a dreamer. His mind was full of ideas. Wonderful ideas! From saving princesses to a life-size talking Mouse named Mickey, he would use his imagination to make his drawings pop off the page and come to life. RUTH (to the audience) Hey, maybe THEY would like to see some of Walt’s drawings come to life on this stage right now! MOTHER That’s a great idea. But we all have to help Walt by using our imaginations too. We’re going to need everyone out there to imagine this stage full of Disney characters ready to sing and dance and perform for you today/tonight. (As MOTHER sings the following WALT is in full focus drawing. As she sings, characters representing all the songs and medleys appear all over the stage. They all have some distinguishing feature about them via a prop or costume piece without being fully dressed as their “character.” They all move as in slow-motion, pantomiming something about their song) MOTHER (sung) A DREAM IS A WISH YOUR HEART MAKES WHEN YOU’RE FAST ASLEEP FATHER IN DREAMS YOUR LOSE YOUR HEARTACHES WHATEVER YOU WISH FOR YOU KEEP. MOTHER & FATHER NO MATTER HOW YOUR HEART IS DREAMING IF YOU KEEP ON BELIEVING, THE DREAM THAT YOU WISH WILL COME… (WALT, standing center stage finishes his drawing as the next medley begins. All of the sudden the entire stage is alive with performers. WALT looks around, takes it all in smiling, and then exits as the singing begins) - 3 - MUSIC CONTINUES INTO: Disney Spectacular Medley RUTH Ladies and gentlemen, moms and dads, children of all ages, welcome to the wonderful world of Walt Disney! A wonderful world where elephants fly, chimney sweeps dance, and every wish you make comes true. • 2019 Breeze Show Choir Catalog
Previously Arranged Titles (updated 3/6/19) Specific details about each arrangement (including audio samples) are available at https://breezetunes.com . The cost for each is $300 ($200 if using rhythm section only). The use of any of these arrangements requires a valid custom arrangement license purchased from https://tresonamusic.com . Their licensing fees typically range from $180 to $280 per song and must be paid before you can receive your music. Copyright approval frequently takes 4-6 weeks, sometimes longer, so plan accordingly. If changes to the arrangement are desired, there is an additional fee of $100. Examples of this include re-voicing (such as from SATB to another voice part), rewriting band parts, making cuts, adding an additional verse, etc. **Arrangements may be transposed into a different key free of charge, provided that the change does not make re-voicing necessary** To place an order, please e-mail [email protected] . Tips for success using Previously Arranged Titles: • Most arrangements can be made to work in any voicing, so don’t be afraid to look at titles written for other combinations of voices than what you have. Voice parts can also be reduced or simplified for smaller ensembles. • Adjustments often need to be made if you want to use a previously arranged title in a different show function than it was originally intended. This is especially true of arrangements written as a costume change or a transition number. I am more than happy to consult and make sure a previously arranged title fits with your show design. • Please communicate with me if your band instrumentation changes dramatically during the season, especially when it comes to horn players.

  • A Bronx Tale
A Bronx Tale Synopsis A Bronx Tale, a new musical set in the early 1960s, is based on the autobiographical play written by Chazz Palminteri. It tells the coming-of-age story of Calogero Anello, a young boy from a working class family who finds himself caught between his loving father and a charismatic mob boss. In Act One, Calogero witnesses Sonny, the mob boss, murdering someone right in front of his house on Belmont Avenue; Calogero covers for Sonny when questioned by the NYPD. Calogero’s father, Lorenzo, who is an MTA bus driver, wants to instill a strong sense of right and wrong in his son, but Calogero goes against his father’s wishes. After Sonny is released by the police with no charges against him, he takes Calogero under his wing and helps him get involved with the “glamorous” world of organized crime. Sometime later, Calogero is all grown up and a full prodigy of Sonny, but his father has no idea he has continued to see Sonny. Calogero has also developed a group of Italian- American friends that Sonny thinks is a bad influence over him and encourages Calogero to stick to his schoolwork. Calogero meets an African-American girl, Jane, on Webster Avenue which is a very different side of the Bronx than where Calogero lives. He asks his father for advice on what he should do when he and Jane go on a date. Calogero’s father doesn’t exactly approve of him going out with Jane because he is concerned for his son’s safety, considering the high racial tensions on the time period, but Lorenzo still gives him advice.
