Free Event Brings Today's Hottest Talent in , Music, Animation and Gaming Together to Help Aspiring Stars Break into the Industry

WHAT: Avid (NASDAQ: AVID) and Microsoft are collaborating to sponsor the "Make Your Mark" event series - open to aspiring filmmakers, music producers, animators and game designers interested in learning from industry professionals about what it takes to break into the competitive world of film, music, gaming and animation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the tools professionals are using to make their creative mark.

The San Francisco event will kick off with an interactive panel session, moderated by Kelli Richards, founder and CEO of The All Access Group. The panel will cover tips and tricks for getting noticed and getting ahead in film, TV, music and 3D. Panelists include:

-- Lya Guerra, film program coordinator and programmer, SXSW Film Conference and Festival;

-- Music Industry Talent Scout, Tim Sweeney, founder of Sweeney and Associates;

-- Craig Parks, VP branded entertainment and business development, Independent Film Channel; and

-- Jonathan Harb, CEO and Creative Director of Visual FX production company, Whiskytree

INDUSTRY PRESENTERS AND BREAKOUT SESSIONS:

Carmen Rizzo, producer-mixer-programmer and writer:

"Professional Remixing and Production Techniques" and "Redefining the Studio"

Rizzo is a two-time Grammy(R) nominee and has worked on albums for a range of influential artists including Seal, , , Paul Oakenfold, BT and Tiesto, amongst many others.

The Rondo Brothers, musicians and professional composers:

"Music Creation in a Virtual Environment" and "ProTools and the Art of the Remix"

The Rondo Brothers, Jim Greer and Brandon Arnovick, met during the late 90s while playing in the San Francisco music scene. While gigging away in their own bands, both musicians found themselves doing a wide variety of production, songwriting and studio work. Since then, the pair have collaborated on a variety of remix and scoring work for the NFL, The Gap, Footlocker, Nike and Gatorade.

Dan Moses, filmmaker and producer, First Tracks Productions:

"Extreme Filmmaking"

Moses is a producer at First Track Productions, focused on extreme snow sports. In addition, he is a freelance film and TV producer, editor and cinematographer, tackling a diversity of formats and genres. His latest projects include two internationally distributed snow sports and a widely distributed podcast series. His work can be found on national television, in film festivals, on the Web and in a ski shop near you.

Jonathan Harb, CEO and creative director, Whiskytree:

"Breaking into Visual FX in Film"

Harb has worked as visual effects supervisor, digital matte supervisor, digital matte artist, digital artist, and concept and animatic artist on films such as Eight Below, the three Star Wars prequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Perfect Storm, Artificial Intelligence and Sleepy Hollow. Harb has contributed to more than 30 feature films, dozens of commercials and has garnered two Visual Effects Society (VES) awards for his outstanding work.
