Marie, Ontario By David Steele new chapter in our sailing lives Abegan inadvertently that Wednesday night in May 2005. That was the night I was minding my own business innocently surfing through the sailing accessories up for auction on Ebay as I needed a new cleat for my 28' Lancer sloop which I had been sailing for close to 20 years. For some reason I decided to look at sailboats that were presently up for auction. Although not particularly in the market for a new boat, one is always enticed with the thought of bigger and better so I concentrated my search in the 40-foot range. I felt a sense of excitement when I peered at the screen and one item stood out that had just been listed five minutes before. It was a 1990 Beneteau Oceanis 390! Ever since I started sailing I have loved the look of a Beneteau and after being listed for only twenty min- way and cockpit. My wife and I briefly hoped one day of owning one however utes. As I read the ad, it revealed that the joked that this was the boat for us. The due to the high cost of such a boat this boat wasn’t perfect but was in fact a proj- next morning still curious about the boat dream would be very far off in the future ect boat. Pictures showed fire and water I logged back on to the Ebay auction to or a remote possibility at best.

Designed and built by the Stephens Brothers of Stockton, VIP is number 7 of 19 Farallon Clippers, built between 1940 and 1962. The yard built her shortly after WWII as a gift to one of the Stephens Brothers, Theo, the Very Important Person. Some 55 years later Don Taylor, visiting friends for dinner, is sharing their coffee table book of all the beautiful wooden boats built by the Stephens boats when he found himself constantly flipping back to a photo of the 38’ Farallon Clipper.

Hunter Family Register 929.273 H919 HUNTER EA/V\lLYREGISTER DESCENDANTS OF SAMUEL HUNTER OF AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA CHEYENNE, WYOMING Rev. 1964 Mesa Family History Center 41 S. Hobson Strget INTRODUCTION Some years ago, in visiting friends in Missouri and Nehraskzi, I had with me a birthday book in which I obtained the name and date of birth of each relative I met, whether connected with my own family or that of my wife; and it afterwards occurred to me that I had a good beginning for a Family Register. I have since spent much time collecting material for that object. I have re cently published a Ustick Family Register, and have now in hand facts from which to form a partial Register of the Hunter family, the descendants of Sarn uel Hunter, oi Virginia. This pertains mostly to those families living in the west. I hope that someone will take up the matter where I leave off, make it more extensive, supply deficiencies and correct errors. As I have now entered upon the last half of my eightieth year I cannot promise to do anything more in this line, especially in the mechanical department; hut my daughter, Mrs. L. T. Thornely of Duhuque, would be glad to receive additional information pertaining to the history of the various branclies of the Hunter family, and will take pleasure in preserving such information for future reference; and we hereby solicit correspondence with those connected with the family, either by descent or marriage, and especially those who are represented in these pages. In the Register individuals are numbered consecutively.
