Where on earth has the summer gone? I am pleased to say the Club has been busy all through August with visiting teams, the WOEC and mem- bers sailing during the week. With good weather at the weekends it has been great to see people enjoying the garden and using the bar on Sunday afternoons. The wind was not very kind for the Ladies Race which was a challenge for those that took part and all those that finished should be congratulated. The Finn Nationals were a great success and thanks must go to all those that worked so hard to make the Finn sailors welcome. I am particularly pleased it was such a good event as it was Dave Dunn’s last one as Chairman of the Championship Committee as he has decided that having done the job for over 10 years it was time to step down. I am sure you will all support me in giving a huge thanks to Dave who has worked so hard for all the local Clubs and masterminded some superb events.

Hunter Family Register 929.273 H919 HUNTER EA/V\lLYREGISTER DESCENDANTS OF SAMUEL HUNTER OF AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA CHEYENNE, WYOMING Rev. 1964 Mesa Family History Center 41 S. Hobson Strget INTRODUCTION Some years ago, in visiting friends in Missouri and Nehraskzi, I had with me a birthday book in which I obtained the name and date of birth of each relative I met, whether connected with my own family or that of my wife; and it afterwards occurred to me that I had a good beginning for a Family Register. I have since spent much time collecting material for that object. I have re cently published a Ustick Family Register, and have now in hand facts from which to form a partial Register of the Hunter family, the descendants of Sarn uel Hunter, oi Virginia. This pertains mostly to those families living in the west. I hope that someone will take up the matter where I leave off, make it more extensive, supply deficiencies and correct errors. As I have now entered upon the last half of my eightieth year I cannot promise to do anything more in this line, especially in the mechanical department; hut my daughter, Mrs. L. T. Thornely of Duhuque, would be glad to receive additional information pertaining to the history of the various branclies of the Hunter family, and will take pleasure in preserving such information for future reference; and we hereby solicit correspondence with those connected with the family, either by descent or marriage, and especially those who are represented in these pages. In the Register individuals are numbered consecutively.

  • 2011 ANNUAL REPORT Letter to Our Goals Members
MEMBERSHIP MATTERS 2011 ANNUAL REPORT Letter to our Goals Members Dear Member, 2011 was an exceptional year for US Sailing, and we would like to start by thanking you for your ongoing support and confidence in our organization. You enable us to deliver the programs that are important to our sport, and inspire us to continually strive to improve sailors’ experiences on the water. Last year we committed to focus on the future, challenge the status quo and support the 21st century sailor by enhancing our programs, modernizing our processes and expanding support for organizations. We’ve made progress. We increased the number of Certified Instructors and Race Officials, and completely revamped the Level 1 Instructor program and student materials. We developed new services and tools to support PHRF fleets. Following the successful Yacht Club Summit, we launched a series of local conferences, and are supporting regional yacht club summits. The US Sailing Road Show stopped at 50 clubs and sailing centers, inspiring over 17,000 young sailors. We further enhanced our Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) education program in preparation for a national rollout. We extended our commitment to safety with our investigations of last summer’s sailing tragedies. Promote Participation, Education, Raise Standards and Expand Clubs across the country are reviewing these reports and recommendations, and implementing new practices to Opportunity and Safety Competitive Sailing in the US reduce accidents in the future. “SSA is proud of its long history offering world class “Some say sailing is declining. Not here. We just hosted Despite the economic challenges, 2011 was another strong year financially.
