The Quakes open the regular season with a road series for the second year in a row . This game marks the 2018 1ST HALF STANDINGS second contest of a seven-game road trip. Modesto 0 1 .000 1 FAMILIAR FACES ON THE FARM: A total of 16 former Quakes will return to Rancho Cucamonga to start the 2018 campaign, including 12 of the 13 pitchers on the roster. Jordan Sheffield and Tony Gonsolin, ranked 18th and 24th in the Dodgers' system, respectively by SOUTH W L PCT GB MLBPipeline.com, return to the Quakes to help anchor the rotation. Former Quakes Dean Kremer, Chris Mathewson and Andrew Lancaster 1 0 1.000 - Sopko will also pitch out of the rotation. The bullpen is made up entirely of former Quakes, with Stetson Allie, Isaac Anderson, Parker Inland Empire 1 0 1.000 - Lake Elsinore 1 0 1.000 - Curry, Andrew Istler, Nolan Long, Ryan Moseley and Jason Richman making up the relief core. He'll be joined by returning infielder Omar Estevez and outfielder Logan Landon. RECENT ROSTER MOVES: Wednesday, C Steve Berman was placed on the DL. Today, RHP Chris Matthewson placed on the DL. Today, LHP Leo Crawford transfered to Rancho from Ext Spring in AZ. CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD SAME SKIPPER, NEW STAFF: Back to skipper the Quakes for a third consecutive year will be Manager Drew Saylor, who has led the team to the Cal League Playoffs in each of the last two seasons. ISABEL IS BACK WITH A BOOM: Following a 2017 campaign where he led the Quakes with 28 home runs, Ibandel Isabel returns to the Modesto at Lancaster, 6:35 PM Rancho roster. The six foot four, 225 pound masher from the right side drove in 87 runs last season while batting .259 and drawing 40 Rancho Cucamonga at Visalia, 7:00 PM walks over 444 at bats. The list includes Dodgers starting pitchers Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, Kenta Maeda and Hyun-jin Ryu along with bullpen arms Kenley Jansen, Ross Stripling and Pedro Baez. Field players Corey Seagar, Cody Bellinger, Kike Tomorrow Hernandez, Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson, Logan Forsythe and Kyle Farmer have all made previous stops in Rancho Cucamon- ga as well. Modesto at Lancaster, 6:05 PM SOPKO RETURNS TO RANCHO: Andrew Sopko will make his 18th career start with the Quakes today and first of 2018 in game two of San Jose at Inland Empire, 6:05 PM the series. Sopko spent the entire 2017 season in Double-A Tulsa compiling a 5-7 record and 4.13 ERA across 23 starts. The Missoula, Rancho Cucamonga at Visalia, 7:00 PM MT native struck out 74 hitters over 104.2 innings and issued 45 walks. Sopko was a 7th round selection of the Dodgers in 2015 and Lake Elsinore at Stockton, 7:10 PM returns to Rancho Cucamonga after spending the majority of the 2016 season with the Quakes. The Gonzaga University alum was an impressive 11-2 with a 3.26 ERA while striking out 99 hitters over 99.1 innings in his previous stint with the Quakes. 2018 QUAKES AT A GLANCE OPPOSING PITCHER: Bo Takahashi gets the start today for the Rawhide in game two of the series. Last season, Takahashi split time at 1st Half Record: 0-1 Low-A Kane County and High-A Visalia. The majority of Takahashi's appearances came for Visalia where he packaged a 7-10 record 2nd Half Record: 0-0 and 5.33 ERA across 20 starts. Friday markes his third career start against the Quakes (one in 2016, one in 2017) and 23rd carrer start vs Visalia: 0-1 for the Rawhide.
