The Drillers rattled off three runs in the 2nd, before adding a solo shot from CF D.J. Peters in the 3rd. RHP Matt Pearce kept Tulsa from adding to their lead with scoreless work from the 4th – 6th, but Tulsa plated a fifth run in the 7th to make it 5-0. After 6.0 scoreless innings from Tulsa RHP Dustin May, the Cardinals broke through with a two-run single from SS Jose Martinez in the 7th. Springfield further shaved the deficit with an RBI fielder’s choice by 1B John Nogowski in the 8th, but Tulsa hung on from there for the 5-3 final.  The Lane Train honored… OF was named on Thursday as a Texas League Postseason All-Star, serving as Springfield’s representative on the exclusive roster that recognizes the top eight position players and six pitchers from throughout the league. The 22 year old had a terrific season in Springfield before being promoted to AAA-Memphis on 7/27, hitting .260 with a team-best 22 home runs and 67 RBIs while adding 16 doubles and 13 steals in 100 Double-A games. With an active final stretch, he has scored a run in each of his last five games, touching home a total of six times during that time period.  Hello, Herrera… C Ivan Herrera is slated to make his Double-A debut this evening after joining Springfield from the Gulf Coast League Cardinals (Rookie) on Thursday. Just 18 years old, Herrera has done nothing but in rookie ball so far, batting .348 (39x112) with a homer and 25 RBIs in 28 games in the GCL this year, after being named a Baseball America Dominican Summer League All-Star last season when he hit .335 (57x170) with a , 15 doubles and 27 RBIs in 49 games for the DSL Cardinals last year. Born on 6/1/2000, he becomes the first-ever player born in the 21st century to suit up for Springfield.
