Cook - Oh Yeah (Caroline Polachek remix) A. G. Cook - 2021 (umru remix) A. G. Cook - The Darkness (Hannah Diamond & Sarah Bonito remix) ‘XCXOPLEX ‘featuring Charli XCX, is a powerful rework of “Xxoplex” taken from Apple, and sees the duo push the boundaries of pop once more, the first time both artists have officially featured on a track together. It’s a spellbinding addition to their vaunted musical partnership, which includes Cook executive producing the last four Charli XCX albums, including Mercury-nominated How I’m Feeling Now, and most recently scoring a viral tik tok hit with their hugely successful 'Unlock it' Charli XCX track - A. G. Cook Production. The original “Xxoplex” was a work of controlled chaos with flickers of beauty shimmering beneath the surface, a track described by Cook as “the dark, industrial heart of Apple”. The rework brings the melodies of the original out of the darkness into the light, with Charli adding a soaring vocal hook at it’s centre. It’s a significant addition to both Cook and XCX’s catalogue, a track that is emblematic of the boundless creativity of their partnership. A. G. says: “Xcxoplex started as a track called Xxoplex made at Charli's XCX's house before I played a show at the Echoplex... My favourite songs are never-ending, existing beyond albums in the form of remixes, covers, demos, live versions and edits. When Charli and I started working on Xcxoplex we subliminally both wanted to do something high energy - in my mind it became a kind of tribute to all the live shows and DJ sets that we've done together, and a way of putting the intensity of those moments back into something new. Hannah Diamond and Sarah Bonito angelically step into the vocal booth for their remix of ‘The Darkness’, following the bouncing escapism of Caroline Polachek’s ‘Oh Yeah’ and bass nihilism of umru on ‘2021’. A. G. Cook is best known as the founder and head of PC Music, and has spent recent years working in creative partnerships with artists, most notably Charli XCX, for whom he was Executive Producer on her albums How I’m Feeling Now (Mercury Prize nominated), Charli, Number 1 Angel and Pop 2. He kicked off 2021 with a #1 track in Japan with production work on Hikaru Utada's One Last Kiss, the theme song for cult series, Evangelion. Apple was the second major release under his own name in 2020, following 7G- a 49 track album which included new material and covers of songs by Blur, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX and more. Cook was awarded Variety's Hitmakers Innovators of the Year the award alongside Charli XCX. International boundary-breaking pop star Charli XCX is the most exciting British pop star of the last decade. She's won accolades from Billboard rap song of the year and hitmaker of the year to best music video, Best British solo artist at the NME awards - as well as Grammy and Mercury prize nominations. She wrote number 1 hits for Icona Pop, Iggy Azealia, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello, and Christine & The Queens stunning comeback record ‘Gone’. Her futuristic sound and aesthetic is closely aligned with that of A. G. and the label PC Music. Together they have rewritten the sound of modern pop music - as independent artists and producers, part of a collective of collaborative artists, as well as lending their creativity to a host of major label artists. www.tailored-communication.com | [email protected].
