The money raised will also help provide tests and treatments to people in 190 countries around the world through the COVAX initiative. (During August, Worcester Cathedral is hosting The Leaves of the Trees, an installation of 5,000 steel ‘Hope’ leaves, as a reflective memorial to the effects of the pandemic. The installation has been designed to honour those who have lost their lives, but also to allow everyone to take a moment to contemplate what we have been through and to think about loved ones). SUMMER REFLECTION FROM REV’D BRUCE RIENSTRA: On the first day of the Holiday Club, the 29th of July, I was sitting with several club leaders and parents and we were remarking on the need for a holiday, the need to get away for some rest. Then later that day an email arrived from Sojourners, an American Christian social justice group. I often ignore the emails but this time I read it. It pointed to Pope Francis’ reflection on 18th July on Mark 6.30-34 after he returned from hospital. Jesus tell his apostles “Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest a while”. Francis said: "Let us beware, brothers and sisters, of efficiency, let us put a halt to the frantic running around dictated by our agendas. Let us learn how to take a break, to turn off the mobile phone, to contemplate nature, to regenerate ourselves in dialogue with God.” Francis’ advice, indeed Jesus 'advice is to stop and reflect. Let us take this month of August and do what we can for ourselves, by ourselves with God. Sometimes we need to stop, need to rest, need to regenerate in order to serve God. To serve God you need to serve yourself.

Notice regarding online services: As we are now holding in person services, please note that Zoom Church at 11am has now finished along with the pre-recorded Sunday service.
