Tato reflexe se snaží přiblížit průběh zkoušení inscenace a spolupráci s americkým režisérem Genem Terrusem. Dále popisuji mou práci na roli. V závěru zmiňuji můj přínos ze zkoušení inscenace. Zde svede osud dohromady sedm odlišných lidí – starší pár, taxikáře, mladou herečku, vojáka (dezertéra) a mladičkou dívku, která právě utekla z domova. Schovávají se před nebezpečím, seznamují se prožívají několik společných hodin plných napětí, strachu, ale také smíchu, lásky a přátelství. Jejich heslo nakonec zní : ,,Bez lásky je moře šedivé“. 4 GENE TERRUSO Gene Terruso je americký režisér a pedagog, profesor na University of the Arts ve Philadelphii, kde strávil 14 let jako děkan Divadelní fakulty a člen Hudební fakulty. Byl také čtyři roky uměleckým ředitelem Provincetown Playhouse, prezidentem nejstarší herecké konzervatoře v zemi – American Academy of Dramatic Arts v New Yorku a je mimo jiné zakladatelem SummerNITE Theatre. Terruso má za sebou dlouhé působení i jako dramaturg, producent, autor či reportér, Broadway ovšem dobyl jako herec. Studoval v Hollywoodu u Sanforda Meisnera a po dobu dvou let mu byl i asistentem, je celostátně uznávanou autoritou na Meisnerovo dílo. Na Broadwayi vystupoval s umělci jako Colleen Dewhurst, Jerry Stiller, Avery Brooks nebo Liza Minnelli. K nedávným úspěchům mimo Broadway patří jeho role v premiérách Barrow Group Theatre a režiséra Michaela Wellera ,,Buying Time“ a ,,An Uncertain Hour“, které získaly prestižní chicagské Ceny Josepha Jeffersona. Pracuje také ve filmu a televizi, učí filmové herectví na univerzitách v NYC a ve Philadelphii. Je autorem několika divadelních her a muzikálů včetně ,,A Gentleman's Game“ (Off-B'way's WPA Theatre) a ,,Babbacombe Lee“, hudební revue ,,Johnny Mercer : We Remember You“ a rockové opery založené na hudbě The Kinks ,,A Rock and Roll Fantasy“ (The ArtsBank, Philadelphia). V současné době vyučuje díky stipendiu Fulbrightovy komise na Janáčkově akademii múzických umění a na Masarykově univerzitě v Brně. Gene Terruso (Zdroj: Pavlína Taubingerová) 5 VZNIK TITULU : SVĚTLO POD CAFÉ BREL Inscenaci předchází hudební revue s písněmi známého šansoniéra Jacquesa Brela, s názvem ,,Jacques Brel is alive and well and living in Paris“. Premiéra se uskutečnila 22. ledna 1968 pod off – Broadway v New Yorku. Revue se uvádělo po dobu čtyř let, odehrálo se 1.847 repríz. Původními herci byli Elly Stone, Mort Shuman, Shawn Elliott a Alice Whitfield a režie se ujal Izraelec Moni Yakim. Revue, skládající se přibližně z dvaceti pěti písní bylo zpíváno dvěma muži a dvěma ženami. Brel přispěl hudbou a francouzskými texty, anglické překlady poskytli Eric Blau, manžel Elly Stone a Mort Shuman. Dva měsíce po premiéře, přesněji tedy 1. března 1968 vyšlo LP a díky velkému úspěchu se později uvedly revivly tohoto titulu, a to v roce 1999 na West Endu v Londýně a 2006 na off – Broadway v New Yorku. Roku 1975 se dílo dočkalo i filmové podoby, v produkci s American Film Theatre a v režii Denise Hérouxe. Jacques Brel zemřel tři roky po filmovém uvedení. Mort Shuman, Shawn Elliott, Alice Whitfield, Elly Stone (Zdroj: Don Hunstein) Gene Terruso je velkým obdivovatelem belgického šansoniéra Jacquesa Brela, není tedy divu, že se také pustil do režie tohoto titulu. Jak sám režisér říká : , Žádná hudba, kterou jsem kdy slyšel, nepromlouvá k lidské společnosti s takovou upřímností.‘ (Terruso, 2015) 6 Inscenaci pod názvem ,,Jacques Brel is Alive and Well … and Living in Paris“ Terruso nazkoušel se společností Steel River Playhouse v Newberry Loft na High Street v Pottstownu v Pensylvánii. Produkce Steel River rozšířila původní podobu inscenace tím, že dění zasadila do suterénu londýnského nočního klubu, a právě probíhající druhé světové války. Hra navázala na tehdejší trend Steel Riveru, který svou sezónu zahájil intimním hudebním revue, představující práci moderních populárních skladatelů. Show byla limitována, uváděla se pouze od 25. září do 4. října 2015. K hudebnímu nastudování celé inscenace Terruso přizval Joa Smitha, který si též zahrál roli Pianisty, o choreografii se postarala Ali Wetzel. Na obsazení šesti postav celé hry si dal režisér obzvlášť záležet, neboť zazpívat Brelovy písně tak, aby bylo zachováno jejich poselství a výpovědní hodnota není vůbec jednoduché. Terruso tedy sestavil prvotřídní obsazení, aby Brelovým písním vdechl život. V roli mladého vojáka se představil Steve Carrasco, roli Zpěvačky obsadila Mallory DeForest, Sandra Hartmanová ztvárnila postavu Lady, nejmladší roli, tedy Holku na útěku si zahrála blondýnka Abigail Allwein, o Gentlemana se postaral Allen Puy a roli taxikáře Terruso svěřil Robertu Tilleyovi. Když Brelovy hity navštívily české prostředí, nemělo dílo pojmenování. Ihned začaly překlady a úpravy textů, o které se režisér postaral společně s Michalem Zahálkou a Miroslavem Ondrou. Chtěl mít stoprocentní kontrolu nad kvalitou překladu, nechával si tedy dokonce převádět již přeložené texty zpět do angličtiny. Není se čemu divit, vždyť obsah autorových myšlenek je v tomto případě to nejpodstatnější na celé inscenaci. To byl také důvod, proč nám byly některé texty dodány až dva týdny před premiérou. Gene se podílel nejen na překladu, byl také přítomen téměř u všech korepetic s Tomášem Küfhaberem a u zkoušení pohybových scén, které někdy dokonce sám vymýšlel. Myslím, že obsazení rolí nebylo v našem případě vůbec jednoduché. Režisér jistě vybíral podle typů. Jistě, obsadit mladičkou Holku na útěku není nic tak obtížného, ovšem co Lady a Gentleman, které si sám představoval jako starší pár kolem šedesáti let? Nakonec i přes některé změny v obsazení, zvolil Gene Terruso tu nejlogičtější variantu. Do role Lady obsadil Dianu Velčickou v alternaci s Martinou Pawerovou a Robina Schenka pověřil rolí Gentlemana. Obsazení bylo tedy v celku jasné, stále ale naše inscenace neměla pojmenování. Název jsme konzultovali a hledali všichni společně, přičemž vznikl titul ,,Světlo pod Café Brel“. Café Brel byla naše smyšlená kavárna, noční klub, který má být útočištěm v krizové situaci. Název skrývá mnohé. Co je vlastně ono světlo – naděje či konec? 7 SETKÁNÍ V CAFÉ BREL V pondělí, 28.listopadu 2016 jsme poprvé usedli s Genem Terrusem ke společnému stolu a práce na naší třetí absolventské inscenaci mohla začít. Už po cestě na zahajovací zkoušku jsem si uvědomila, že celé zkoušení bude probíhat v angličtině. Moje angličtina je průměrná, tudíž jsem se obávala jisté jazykové bariéry. Když jsem se režisérovi na zahajovací zkoušce omluvila za mou angličtinu, odpověděl, že se nemusím za nic omlouvat, protože on zase neumí česky, takže jsme na tom stejně. V té chvíli jsem pochopila, že i navzdory jazykové bariéře bude spolupráce velmi přínosná. Abychom neztráceli čas, začali jsme ihned číst. Myslela jsem si, že zpívané texty budeme přeskakovat a přečteme si jen mluvené slovo. Právě písně ale byly onou hádankou, kterou jsme následně luštili celé zkušební období. Trvalo dlouho, než jsme dostali vůbec první české texty, četli a zkoušeli jsme tedy v angličtině. Byla to pro mě výzva, protože porozumět významům v tom správném slova smyslu a nacházet motivace, vodítka pro postavu a jisté klíčové momenty v písních nebylo vůbec jednoduché. Gene Terruso dbal na to, abychom se nestyděli za své nepochopení a mohli se o věcech, kterým nerozumíme otevřeně bavit. Na každé čtené zkoušce jsme si s mou alternací Mariannou Polyákovou sedli naproti sobě a všechny zásadní věci jsme konzultovaly společně, hlavně kvůli zmíněné angličtině. Probíraly jsme naši postavu ze všech stran, ovšem každá ji vnímala podle sebe. Gene Terruso požadoval absolutní

Anotace Diplomová práce ,,Herectví v hudebních filmech podle muzikálů Andrew Lloyda Webbera“ zkoumá adaptace muzikálů A. L. Webbera na filmovém plátně. Zaměřuje se na vznik těchto filmů, snaží se popsat spolupráci autora hudby u vzniku snímků, shrnuje kritický ohlas. Speciální pozornost je věnována herectví (analýzy jednotlivých hereckých výkonů, metody herectví, přístupy ke ztvárnění postav). Autorka bude čerpat z vlastní recepce zmíněných filmových děl, z kritik, analýz, teoretické i historiografické literatury. Special attention is devoted to acting (to analysis of individual acting, methods of acting and of access to portrayal of characters). The author of the thesis is going to draw inspiration from her own reception of mentioned works of film art, from criticism works, analyzes and from theoretical and historiographic literature.

    Landmarks Preservation Commission December 15, 1987; Designation List 198 LP-1372 ROYALE THEATER, 242-250 West 45th Street, Manhattan. Built 1926-27; architect Herbert J. Krapp. Landmark Site: Borough of Manhattan Tax Map Block 1016, Lot 55. On June 14 and 15, 1982, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the proposed designation as a Landmark of the Royale Theater and the proposed designation of the related Landmark Site (Item No. 68). The hearing was continued to October 19, 1982. Both hearings had been duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of law. Eighty-two witnesses spoke or had statements read into the record in favor of designation. One witness spoke in opposition to designation. The owner, with his representatives, appeared at the hearing, and indica ted that he had not formulated an opinion regarding designation. The Commission has received many letters and other expressions of support in favor of this designation. DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS The Royale Theater survives today as one of the historic theaters that symbolize American theater for both New York and the nation. Built in 1926- 27, the Royale was among the half-dozen theaters constructed by the Chanin Organization in the mid-1920s, to the designs of Herbert J. Krapp, that typified the development of the Times Square/Broadway theater district. Founded by Irwin S. Chanin, the Chanin organization was a major cons true tion company in New York. During the 1920s, Chanin branched out into the building of theaters, and helped create much of the ambience of the heart of the theater district.
