1. MCWD Nitabang Sa Mga Barangay Sa Bukid 2015 Programs and Project Beneficiaries A. Corporate Social Responsibility Activities 1. 4. Sinulog revelers, participants get free water MCWD gives free drinking water to Sinulog participants and spectators Pilgrims staying at the Devotee City enjoy free potable water from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) during the feast of Sr. Santo Niño. MCWD is now on its 20th year of providing free water to the devotees during the occasion. The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) continued its yearly commitment of providing free potable water to pilgrims in the Devotee City and Sinulog participants during the feast of Sr. Santo Niño. From January 16 to 19, the Devotee City served pilgrims who do not have relatives to stay with in Cebu City and cannot afford to rent a place to stay. During these days, they enjoy free water from MCWD for cooking, washing and bathing. MCWD is now on its 20th year of providing free water for out-of-town devotees in the Devotee City. On January 17, during solemn procession, MCWD also provided four water stations along the route to give free water to devotees who are expected to flock to the city. On January 18, during the grand parade, MCWD put up 17 water stations along the carousel route. 5. HANDWASHING.MCWD Acting General Manager Noel Dalena show a pupil how to wash his hands properly. MCWD promotes sanitation to schoolkids The water district conducted a handwashing activity in the First Assembly of God Christian School in Cansojong, Talisay City to promote awareness on hygiene and sanitation. Left photo shows MCWD Acting General Manager Noel Dalena teaching a pupil the proper way to wash hands. The activity is part of the celebration of the Global Handwashing Day. Some 30 grade 1 and 2 pupils of the school joined. This was also in partnership with the Cebu Institute of Technology Industrial Engineering Department. MCWD wants to teach the young generation the importance of sanitation and the value of water to health and how this limited resource should be cared for. It promotes water conservation efforts to encourage wise water use and to preserve supply particularly during the warm summer months. A group of students from the said school developed an Android-run mobile application, Water Warrior, that teaches children to save water by storing rainwater and fixing leaking faucets. MCWD gave toys as prizes to three pupils who had the highest scores after playing the app. 6. More….. B. Programs/Projects INSPECTION. Engr. John Macabinta (right) points to a large drop-off point in Consolacion where CMWD is delivering its bulk water supply to MCWD. 1. Subdivision thanks MCWD WASEC team MEGACROWN Realty and Development Corporation president Annie Hsu expressed her company’s appreciation to MCWD ‘s Water Supply and Expansion Committee (WaSEC) team for addressing their subdivision’s water needs. In a letter to Acting GM Ernie Delco, Hsu said MEGACROWN is looking forward to partnering with MCWD for a better service to the community. Their subdivision in Cotcot, Liloan will have 1,165 units or a potential 900 cu.m./day supply requirement, said Corporate Planning Department OIC John Macabinta . In the partnership, the water district will design the pipeline network of the subdivision. The latter will implement the project and later turn over the water system to MCWD. The mainline that MCWD will install will also supply to other water users near the subdivision.
