CEBU BUY-BUSTS YIELD P1.6M WORTH OF SHABU 3 drug dens dismantled; 25 suspects arrested

Methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, worth P1,600,000, was seized during separate entrapment operations conducted by joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army (PA) in the province of on the same day. Three suspected drug dens were dismantled and 25 suspected drug personalities were arrested as a result of the operations.

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said that the illegal drug, weighing approximately a total of 335 grams was confiscated from alleged drug den owners Carlos Abalo, alias Caloy, 44 years old, a resident of Cansojong; Lloyd Manubag, also 44, of Tangke; and Lucino Dakay, 48, of Sambag, San Roque, all from Talisay City, Cebu.

Abalo is a suspected member of Batman Drug Group operating in Cebu City. He is ranked Number 5 in the list of priority targeted drug personalities of Talisay City PNP.

On November 15, 2016 at around 4:20 in the afternoon, Abalo was arrested by combined operatives of PDEA Regional Office 7 (PDEA RO7) under Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz, MIG-7 ISAFP, Task Force Cebu, 3rd Infantry Division, PA, 32nd DRC, 3rd Infantry Division, PA and Provincial Intelligence Branch-Cebu Provincial Police Office (PIB-CPPO) following a buy-bust operation in his house doubling as a drug den in Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City, Cebu.

Confiscated inside were three plastic packs containing 160 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P900,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia. Also taken into custody were Ronaldo Dumajel, 50; Jowely Fernandez, 31; Ramises Torrejos, 30; Lemwel Baring, 29; Daniel Libres, 23; Aldwin Mangaron, 25; Jervy Reyes, 30; Dario Macan, 36; and Jonathan Manahan, 29, who were inside the den when the operation was conducted.

Five minutes later, the same operating team conducted another entrapment operation in the same area which resulted in the arrest of Manubag and the seizure of five plastic packs of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 115 grams worth P460,000 and various drug paraphernalia.

Also apprehended were suspected customers of the den identified as Jiesan Al Zozobrado, 27; Richard Cabigas, 44; Juvic Mabia, 24; Jonabel Cabardo, 25; Rochie Salo, 23; Serman Abellar, 26; and Warden Racaza, 23.

At around 4:30 in the afternoon, Dakay was arrested by the same operating team after he sold shabu to a poseur-buyer inside his residence utilized as a drug den in Sitio Sambag.

Recovered inside were five plastic packs of suspected shabu weighing more or less 60 grams worth P240,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Arrested were alleged customers of the den identified as John Nico delos Reyes, 18; Marilou Ferrer, 32; Rudolfo Gantuangco, Jr., 45; Ryan Paraiso, 20; Romulo Ferolino, 42; and Teodoro Mañacap, 43.

Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 6 (Maintenance of Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court against Abalo, Manubag and Dakay, while the others will be facing charges for violation of Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den).
