This Is a Test ‘DUKE’ CAST BIOS STEVEN WEBER (Terry) – The son of a nightclub singer and a borscht belt talent agent, it‟s not surprising that Steven Weber‟s own love for the limelight emerged at an early age. By the time he was in third grade, the New York City-born Weber was appearing in television commercials. Pursuit of an acting career brought his film debut in “The Flamingo Kid” and a role on the soap opera “As the World Turns.” He appeared in the acclaimed war film "Hamburger Hill" and made his Broadway debut in The Real Thing. But it was the NBC sitcom “Wings” where Weber soared to national attention, starring alongside Tim Daly for seven seasons as brothers running a one-plane airline in Nantucket. Weber‟s acting career has been as eclectic as it is accomplished – whether starring in the television version of Stephen King‟s horror story, “The Shining,” on ABC or appearing years earlier on the same network as JFK in “The Kennedy's of Massachusetts.” His films also demonstrates his wide range, with roles in thrillers “Single White Female” and “The Temp,” as the title in the gay romantic comedy, “Jeffrey” and as a sleazy 1930s pimp in Showtime's comic musical "Reefer Madness.” Returning to the stage, Weber has played the lead in the hit Broadway musical The Producers, appeared with Kevin Spacey and Mary Stuart Masterson in the London production of National Anthems and most recently again on Broadway in The Philanthropist. Most recently, Weber wrapped a guest star role on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” Prior to that he shot the movie adaptation of one of Nickelodeon‟s most popular animated series, “The Fairly OddParents.” Shortly following Weber did a three episode arc for the new TNT original series, “Falling Skies” produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Noah Wyle. Weber, a New York native from Queens, studied at New York‟s High School of the Performing Arts and is a graduate of the theatre program at the State University of New York at Purchase. ### SARAH SMYTH (Alice) – Sarah Smyth‟s television credits include roles on “Smallville,” “Human Target,” “Supernatural,” “Shattered,” “Tower Prep,” “Endgame” and recurring roles on “Durham County” and “Stargate Universe.” In 2009, she landed a series-regular role playing Lucy Daramour on the CBS horror/drama “Harper‟s Island” after executive producer Jon Turteltaub (“National Treasure”) handpicked her for the role. Some of Smyth‟s film credits include “The Covenant,” starring Sebastian Stan and (more) HALLMARK MOVIE CHANNEL/ ‘DUKE’ – Cast Bios – Page 2 Chace Crawford, R.W. Goodwin's “Alien Trespass,” starring alongside Eric McCormack and Robert Patrick and Chris Columbus' “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” starring Logan Lerman and Pierce Brosnan. Smyth recently worked with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the feature film “50/50” and also wrapped up a role in “Jack of Diamonds” with Jean-Yves Berteloot. She was featured in a March issue of Rolling Stone as a rising star and just recently wrapped “Foreverland” a feature starring Juliette Lewis, Thomas Dekker and Max Thieriot. ### ALLISON HOSSACK (Angela) – Originally from Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, Allison Hossack started in the entertainment industry in the early 90s and has been making a name for herself ever since, both in Canada and in the United States. She received her Bachelor‟s from Brandon University in Manitoba, where she completed a major in Music and a minor in Drama. She has since continued acting and voice training in New York City. Hossack‟s first appearance on-screen was as a series regular in the NBC soap opera “Another World.” Following that, she landed a lead role in “White Light,” directed by Al Waxman as well as a lead in the series “Cobra.” Hossack also held roles on several shows, including “Profit,” “Jake and The Kid,” “Two,” “Hope Island,” the multiple award-winning series “Da Vinci‟s Inquest” and “Kingdom Hospital,” written by the renowned Stephen King. Hossack guest-starred on “Stargate: Atlantis,” for which she was nominated for a Leo for Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series. Her other television credits include “Falcon Beach” for ABC Family, the CW‟s “Reaper,” CTV‟s “Robson Arms” and “Heartland” for CBC. Hossack has also starred in several feature films and made-for-TV movies, including the Hallmark Channel Original Movies, “The Gambler, the Girl, and the Gunslinger” and “Battle of the Bulbs,” and the Lifetime originals “Night Owl,” “The Hired Heart,” “A Little Thing Called Murder” and “A Job to Kill For.” She also starred in “Dangerous Intentions” with Donna Mills and Corbin Bernsen, “In the Dog House” for Showtime, “Anthrax” and “The Quality of Life” for CBC. Hossack has also appeared in such movies as “Escape from Mars,” “Ladies Night,” “Saving Milly” and “Normal.” In addition to her many on-screen roles, Hossack is also a seasoned theatre actress, having played such roles as „Ophelia‟ in Othello, „Candida‟ in Candida, „Titania‟ and „Puck‟ in A Midsummer Night‟s Dream and „Liesel‟ in The Sound of Music. ### MARTIN CUMMINS (Javier) – Martin Cummins‟s acting experience has been diverse. His (more) HALLMARK MOVIE CHANNEL/ ‘DUKE’ – Cast Bios – Page 3 credits include four seasons playing Nick, a starring role on “Poltergeist: The Legacy.” The actor later went on to direct several episodes of “Poltergeist” and “The Outer Limits.” Cummins won the 2000 Genie Award for best supporting actor for his gritty performance in Clemente Virgo‟s “Love Come Down.” In 2002 Cummins starred in a new television series pilot, “T.R.A.X.X.,” produced and directed by Renny Harlin. Since winning his Genie, Cummins has worked non-stop. He has been seen on the big screen opposite Linda Fiorentino and Wesley Snipes in Kari Scogland‟s “Liberty Stands Still,” and on the small screen in the British/Canadian six-part miniseries “Dice” of which his performance was nominated for a Best Lead Actor Gemini Award. Cummins was also part of the regular cast of James Cameron‟s hit show “Dark Angel” for Fox. He has had recurring roles on several WB series including “Smallville,” “The Mountain” and “Black Sash.” In 2000, Cummins directed, executive produced, co-wrote and starred in the award winning “We All Fall Down.” He played the tormented and self-destructive Kris, a character based on a close friend from his past, who is a drug-addicted artist on a steady downward spiral. The semi-autobiographical story is loosely based on Cummins‟s experiences in Vancouver‟s downtown eastside. In more recent years, Cummins has appeared on several hit TV series, including recurring roles on “Kyle XY,” “Shattered” and “V.” He has also had guest appearances on “Fringe,” “Eureka,” “The 4400” and “Sanctuary.” He recently wrapped filming on the TV movie “Shrinking Violet,” out in 2012. --HALLMARK MOVIE CHANNEL-- .

As you know, more than 1.5 million veterans have have educated themselves with the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and almost 70% of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) members have used or transferred this benefit to a dependent. It could very well be the most transformative federal benefit created. The new restriction on Post-9/11 GI Bill transferability to only those with less than 16 years of service is a completely unnecessary reduction of this critical benefit, and it will ultimately hurt our military recruitment and readiness. In a time of war, it remains enormously important to recruit and retain qualified servicemembers, especially with an ever-decreasing pool of eligible recruits. For years, IAVA has been at the forefront of this fight. We led the effort to establish this benefit in 2008 and we have successfully defended it in recent years. We cannot allow our GI Bill to be dismantled or abused. This is why I am standing with my fellow IAVA members to respectfully request that you reverse this counterproductive policy change that creates barriers to access to these transformative benefits. The GI Bill has been earned by millions of men and women on the battlefield and around the world and it should not be subjected to arbitrary restrictions that limit its use. Again, thank you for your leadership and I ask that you take action now to reverse this decision.

I focus on the DC Animated Universe, the popular adaptation of DC Comics characters and concepts into all-ages programming. This adapted universe started with Batman: The Animated Series and comprised several shows on multiple networks, all of which fit into a shared universe based on their comic book counterparts. The adaptation of these properties is heavily reliant to intertextuality across DC Comics media. The shared universe developed within the television medium acted as an early example of comic book media adapting the idea of shared universes, a process that has been replicated with extreme financial success by DC and Marvel (in various stages of fruition). I address the process of adapting DC Comics properties in television, dividing it into “strict” or “loose” adaptations, as well as derivative adaptations that add new material to the comic book canon. This process was initially slow, exploding after the first series (Batman: The Animated Series) changed networks and Saturday morning cartoons flourished, allowing for more opportunities for producers to create content. References, crossover episodes, and the later series Justice League Unlimited allowed producers to utilize this shared universe to develop otherwise impossible adaptations that often became lasting additions to DC Comics publishing.

    8 TV Power Games: Friends and Law & Order There is no such thing as a one-man show | at least not in television: one feature that all TV shows have in common is the combination of a large number of diverse contributors: producers, scriptwriters, actors, and so on. This is illustrated in Exhibit 8.1, which depicts the links between key contributors to the making and selling of a TV show. Solid lines repre- sent some form of contractual relationship, whereas dashed lines represent non-contractual relationships of relevance for value creation and value distribution. As is the case with movies, pharmaceutical drugs, and other products, the distribution of TV show values is very skewed: many TV shows are worth relatively little, whereas a few shows generate a very high value: For example, at its peak Emmy Award-winning drama ER fetched $13 million per episode.1 How does the value created by successful shows get divided among its various contrib- utors, in particular actors, producers and networks? Who gets the biggest slice of the big pie? In this chapter, I address this question by looking at two opposite extreme cases in terms of relative negotiation power: Law & Order and Friends. Law & Order | and profits The legal drama series Law & Order was first broadcast on NBC on September 13, 1990. (The pilot episode, produced in 1988, was intended for CBS, but the network rejected it, just as Fox did later, in both cases because the show did not feature any \breakout" characters.) By the time the last show aired on May 24, 2010, it was the longest-running crime drama on American prime time TV.

First of all, I feel that it is important to understand that the Valdez Museum was created for, belongs to and is all about the past, present and future residents of the City of Valdez. The exhibits are only objects but their value is in the stories of the people that they represent. I personally feel that an individual’s soul is reflected in their life story and similarly, the collecve soul of a city is reflected in the collecve stories of its residents. Our museum performs three funcons. First of all, it serves Board of Directors as a repository for these collecve stories in mul‐dimensional forms so that they will not be forgoen and are readily available.
