Blue Cruise Turkey
BLUE CRUISE along the Aegean coast of Turkey The Blue Cruise is ordinarily advertised as renting a private yacht (with captain and sta# on board), cruising along the southwestern coast of Turkey, making stops to swim, hike and see historical ruins. This sounds exciting but it misses the atmosphere of the Blue Cruise that is almost spiritual. As you board your yacht, you also cut the mental ties with land. You embark on a di#erent existence, as if nothing else matters outside your yacht, or even exists for that matter. What makes the Blue Cruise unique is the lack of requirements and responsibilities - at last the freedom to do absolutely nothing and with it, a complete freedom of mind. You can gaze at the sea for hours on end, you can swim everyday, sleep all day or you can finish that book that you weren’t able to finish for ages because of the lack of time. However if you want “action” to spend your time, you will never be at a loss to find yourself activities to try either. When the yacht is anchored, you can discover nearby coves by canoes; you can cover greater distance than swimming and its good exercise for your biceps! Or you can hail down one of the speed boats that tour the coves and bargain for water skiing, jetskis or banana rides. And it goes without saying that you can hike and climb to your heart’s content the pine and olive covered hills that rise from the shore to discover historical ruins from Lycians, Anatolian Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans. -

The sample was identified based on both conventional methods and ITS rDNA region-based molecular phylogeny. By taking into account the high sequence similarity between the sample (ANK Akata & Altuntaş 690) and Battarrea phalloides the relevant specimen was considered to be B. Phalloides and the morphological data also strengthen this finding. In this study, photos of macro and microscopic structures, a short description, scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of spores and elaters, and the ITS rDNA region-based molecular phylogeny of the samples were given. Also, the distribution of B. phalloides specimens identified thus far from Turkey was revealed for the first time in this study. -

Bozburun Bozburun Peninsula Marmaris, Turkey
Bozburun Bozburun Peninsula Marmaris, Turkey LuxuryVillasTurkey.com Bozburun Bozburun is a sleepy and quiet little fishing and boat building village far out on the edge of the Turkish southwest mainland, as close to the Greek islands as you can be without leaving land. It is on the tip of the Bozburun Peninsula, classed as a National Park by the Turkish Authorities so protected from high rise hotel de- velopments. In the village there is a small and popular harbour known to sailors for a long time already. Along the Peninsula are beautiful villages including Orhaniye, Turgut, Bayir and Selimiye. This is the real unspoilt Turkey so popular with guests wanting to expe- rience authentic rural Turkey where life has remained largely unchanged for generations. Bozburun is world famous for its boat building where the wooden Turkish Gulets are lovingly constructed by hand using genera- tions old traditions. Gulets built in Bozburun are sought after throughout Europe so you will find many Bozburun Gulets cruising the waters of Italy and Croatia. The permanent population is only about 2400. The village faces across the sea to the Greek island of Simi, only 15 km away from the “aquarium”, which is the locals’ name of the reef separating the bay from the open sea. Bozburun is one of the key stops on the popular sailing route of the Blue Cruises (Private Gulet Cruises) as well as private yachts of all kinds. The vil- lage has a small and charming little harbour, several restaurants and cafés, shops of different kind, mini grocery stores, butchers, fish store, real estate broker, pharmacy, car rental and a tourist information office. -

EXPERT-LED PETER SOMMER ARCHAEOLOGICAL & CULTURAL TRAVELS TOURS & GULET CRUISES 2021 PB Peter Sommer Travels Peter Sommer Travels 1 WELCOME WHY TRAVEL WITH US? TO PETER SOMMER TR AVELS Writing this in autumn 2020, it is hard to know quite where to begin. I usually review the season just gone, the new tours that we ran, the preparatory recces we made, the new tours we are unveiling for the next year, the feedback we have received and our exciting plans for the future. However, as you well know, this year has been unlike any other in our collective memory. Our exciting plans for 2020 were thrown into disarray, just like many of yours. We were so disappointed that so many of you were unable to travel with us in 2020. Our greatest pleasure is to share the destinations we have grown to love so deeply with you our wonderful guests. I had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with many of you personally during the 2020 season. I was warmed and touched by your support, your understanding, your patience, and your generosity. All of us here at PST are extremely grateful and heartened by your enthusiasm and eagerness to travel with us when it becomes possible. PST is a small, flexible, and dynamic company. We have weathered countless downturns during the many years we have been operating. Elin, my wife, and I have always reinvested in the business with long term goals and are very used to surviving all manner of curve balls, although COVID-19 is certainly the biggest we have yet faced. -
Journal I Bodrum Issue
ESCAPE JOURNEY INTO OUR CULTURE JOURNAL I BODRUM ISSUE EDITOR'S NOTE 3 Dear friends, ’74Escape is a community platform that was born from a passion for exploring other people’s cultural experiences and making new discoveries through travel. Over time, the platform evolved into a wonderful collaborative and intimate space where we connect with friends from around the world, and share new finds and unforgettable memories. The emergence of a curated space and shop from this platform has always seemed like the next inevitable step. While the idea has long been on my mind, it was after enduring these last difficult months that the true philosophy and purpose began to take shape. Before we look outwards and explore, we must look within, and appreciate and celebrate our roots. Born from a heightened sense of unity and solidarity, this edition of the ’74Escape Store & Gallery hence intends to turn inwards, and shine a light on the creative and cultural production happening in Turkey today. This felt like an important time to activate our platform for the benefit of our community, and we have aimed to support our friends and their much loved brands, as well as newly discovered local designers, artisans and artists of Turkey. Istanbul is home to so many spirited brands that each share a unique vision and story that is rooted in our rich history, heritage and culture. The ’74Escape Store & Gallery at Maçakızı Bodrum this summer, celebrates and champions our homegrown talent, and offers a curated selection of exquisitely crafted contemporary works and products inspired by the Mediterranean way of life.
